Gas Leak Repair reviews in Reston

    Washington Gas
Gas line was difficult to schedule and there were multiple delays. The technician did not know what he was doing and had to call for help. The senior person sent out left our house a mess. When we called about a potential gas leak, they could not tell us when the crew would arrive to check, leaving my wife waiting outside in the cold. After two hours, the smell disbursed. They had no way to contact the driver to tell us where he was (really? They should hire Amazon or UPS). They would not allow us to cancel the call. This company is among the worst in customer service i have ever seen.

The experience was great. The person who came out to give us an estimate was very professional and noticed things that other plumbers had not noticed. For instance another plumber had said that we could not drain the washing machine into the pipe that the laundry sink was currently attached to. John Nugent's plumber took a close look and determined that the pipe was a width that could handle the discharge. John Nugent's plumber also pointed out that the gas line going to our dryer had a frozen cut-off valve that needed replacing. On the day of the work, Matt showed up and began the work. He realized that he needed some backup and called in a helper. Both were very courteous and professional and explained what they were doing. They did everything that was on the estimate and the price was exactly as stated on the estimate. They are a little more expensive than other plumbing companies, but in my opinion they are worth it because of their expertise.

The work was top notch.  These guys know what they are doing and their pricing is fair.  Because they are so busy, they can be a little tough to get hold of and schedule, but the effort is well worth it.  Throughout the entire process, they did what they said they would do.  I couldn't be happier.

Never called me back. Left a message regarding having my water heater replaced. Was very disappointed because not only are they rated highly on Angie's list, but friends of ours also recommended them. After 24 hours, I ended up calling a different plumbing company and had the water heater replaced two days later w/o issue. Oh well.

Too long of a story and details to go into but I would never recommend them to anyone, ever, period. They are unorganized, unprofessional and not competent based on the  minimal service they provided.

    Haynes Plumbing LLC
I contacted Haynes Plumbing through Angie?s List messaging.  They called back the next day.  I told Suzette what we needed to have done.  She gave me a ball park figure of what it would cost, with the understanding that it might change once the plumbers got on site and saw the particulars of the situation.
Once the decision was made, and I called for an appointment and got one the following week.  I received a follow up call the next week to confirm the appointment.  The plumbers were on time.  They were professional, and polite.  They explained what they needed to do.  A new flex hose was needed, which they had on hand.  They gave me a price before they started any work.
They took extra care to ensure the gas line was connected properly and bubble tested to ensure proper seals.  They tested the stove, and the burners to ensure everything worked properly, once everything was good they pushed it into place.  They even took the cardboard trash away.  The price was right in line with the estimate I was given over the phone.  I would use Haynes again.

    Jim Eubanks
Our realtor ended up calling Jim for us as we had been waiting over 3 weeks for another vendor to get to us to make the repair. Jim arrived early (on an Sunday, no less) and his diagnosis of the issue was consistent with what we had been told by the other vendor. He made the repair efficiently and the repair cost came in less than what we had been quoted by the no show vendor. Great experience overall, we will be using him to maintain our gas fireplaces (we have 4) going forward.

    Herndon Plumbing and Heating Inc
This company is not reputable, shysterism at its highest level. Called on weekend to fix gas leak. Had to wait until Monday for "emergency service.". Charged me 550$ for repair that took 45 minutes to do! Plumber brought an apprentice to work on leak and he used my time for training session. He said it was a two man job-not true! Paid for double the labor. Gas company came the next day and had trouble aligning pipes because they were not done properly. My meter is on an angle now. Gas company couldn't get furnace going(1 of the leaks came from pipe leading to furnace-apprentice was working on.). Plumber from same company came to fix. Replaced two dollar fuse and charged me an additional $250 for return visit.
Called owner about this and it took him 6days to get back to me. Did not think they were in the wrong. In fact, he had the audacity to try to sell me a water heater for 4x the actual cost when we were discussing price gauging techniques. DO NOT TRUST Herndon Plumbing and Heating--out to take you to the cleaners-liars and thieves!

Response to response: I did not trust company to align gas pipes properly and waste two more days of work(1for plumbing and 1 for gas co)The plumber told me not to call the gas company(bad sign) to turn on gas, he'd do it himself the first time. I told him that this was not satisfactory. The plumber made the job seem like it was going to take all day when he quoted me a price and that he would need assistance. I find it quite curious that the owner was trying to sell me more plumbing work when I was not comfortable with the work they did. I was thinking about how much mark-up would be included in this sales pitch. The problem is that he charged $550+ for essentially an hour labor, sealant, and$9 pipe not aligned properly. This to me is price gauging-not sympathetic, his resolution was to "give me a break" on more work sold. After, the first terrible experience this seemed preposterous to me. BUYER BEWARE!
The furnace was working for 2yrs without an issue, until this apprentice got his hands on it to fix a gas pipe leading into it-very strange timing.

    John Nugent & Sons Inc
I emailed the John Nugent & Sons regarding a gas line issue. They called me back early the next morning and with their expertise over the phone they answered all my questions and determined that I actually really didn't need any work done. The receptionist was kind, helpful and professional. I will call them in the future for sure when I do have work to be done.

Ace Air Conditioning & Heating Service Inc
The experience was very good to say the least. Receptionist (Paula): attentive to my needs, quickly scheduled appointement and county inspection, kept me informed during the project, and responded quickly to some change in the schedule. She was an excellent conduit of communicating and coordinating the project. In my experience, the person on the phone is half of the success of the project. This one didn't misunderstand anything like many in that profession. Estimator (Kevin): was on time, respectful. Timely with e-mailing the estimate. Price: on par with other providers. Installers (Steve and 1 other guy): arrived on time, polite, quick, neat. Got the work done right at the first pass. The location of the new line was challenging, but they creatively addressed it. Came two times for an additional check on gas pressure after several hours of installation. Finally, since the inspector completed earlier, the installers were able to come a day before per my request (so I do not waste another work day) and hook up the stove. They were also very nice, pleasant people, (although this component matters less for me). Final cost: right on the estimate. I will hire them again and do recommend them based on my 1st experience with them.
