  • There was a bit of a wait, but it wasn't too long. The actual swallow test was performed so quickly, that I had to check with the nurse to make sure my step-dad completed it. (Because there is a little bit of radioactive material in the food eaten as part of the swallow test, I wasn't allowed to accompany my step-dad into the room where the test was administered.) His swallow function was normal, by the way.
The thing I like about Morton Plant Memory and Alzheimer's dept, which is part of Neuroscience, is that the administrative staff really bend over backward to help you with all the pre-approvals needed for testing.
My step-dad has also used their facility, on another occasion, to take a driving exam. It is a special driving exam that determines how long it takes for him to react to driving situations. They can use it to gauge how much his cognition has slowed down, and whether he's able to think and react fast enough to continue driving. He ended up voluntarily no longer driving.
Morton Plant's Memory Disorders Clinic also offer support groups, which I found very helpful. Here's the info, which I've copied, from their web site. (Unfortunately, this Angie's list rating doesn't allow me to paste a link.)

  • We had our daughter see him for a year.  She loved him.  But when she fell apart, he wasn't there for us.  We see another md now who answers calls.  We don't call often, but when we do, it is important.

  • Though I trust her text book knowledge, I am glad I only need her for the purposes of writing me a prescription. I was not seen until 45 minutes past my appointment time, and her waiting room was socially very uncomfortable. The walls are thin and while she was in session with other clients I clearly could hear the conversations coming from the room. One client was shouting and did not seem happy with her treatment at all, which did not instill my confidence in the dr being patient oriented. The dr also seemed very hurried/flustered and was rushing patients in and out of her office. Her bedside manner was pretty non-existent, too.
By the time she finally saw me, she pointed out that it was already past her quitting time and I got the impression she just wanted to wrap things up and get me out of there as soon as possible. (Never mind that I had waited 45 minutes for her). Even after I gave her my card to pay her, she just threw it across her desk back at me instead of handing it to me, which I found particularly rude.
I gave her the benefit of the doubt and thought perhaps I had caught her on a bad day. For my follow up visit, I luckily didn't have to wait as long- my appointment started close to on time (within 5-10 minutes). But her manner was still the same-not very polite and condescending at times. Again, I only need her to write a rx for me that I already have had success with, so she fulfills that need for me. Beyond that I am glad I don't need her services for anything else.

  • He was referred to me by another psychologist. He is very easy to talk to and he is very down to earth. He is very attuned to children and understands them very well; my son had no problem and he felt comfortable speaking with him.

  • He is an excellent physician with a great patient-doctor relationship.  He has great knowledge of his field.  He is the tops in everything.  He is booked pretty solid.  The office environment is fine.  His bedside manner is the tops.  Billing and administration is fine.  I am on Medicare.  I intend to use him again in the future.

  • I have a problem with sleep because of my brain chemistry. Some nights I would not sleep at all. I was going to another doctor, but Dr. Blitch was recommended by a friend that was pleased with him. When I started seeing Dr. Blitch, he put me on new medication and I have been able to sleep through the night nearly every night since then.

  • I believed that I was showing symptoms of bipolar disorder so I spoke with Dr. Ibia and after talking with me she agreed that my symptoms were not normal. She chose not to prescribe anything before getting bloodwork which I very much appreciated and she also took into account my family's history with such treatments. The very first prescription she wrote for me has been working perfectly. I know exactly why she prescribed this particular mood stabilizer as opposed to several others and I know exactly what this medication is designed to treat. She's been nothing but helpful and is also a great connection to other doctors in her field and her area. I will always recommend her.

  • I don’t feel rushed when I’m with him. I never have to wait more than five minutes to see him, which is amazing, and he has a great dry sense of humor. He gets migraines too, so he appreciates what I’m going through and understands it. He will also refer me to other doctors if he feels like they can treat the situation better. It seems like he really cares and when I have to bring my kids with me he is awesome with them.

  • Everything I read about her on Angie’s List was true. She is very prompt, reliable, and personable. Quite honestly, she is probably the best doctor I have been to for this sort of service. I plan on being a patient of her's for a long time.

  • She has wonderful bedside manner. She is very concerned with your well-being. She is very good at what she does. She goes above and beyond the scope of her specialty. She would recommend you to other doctors if she felt the need. She is well respected within the community. I would definitely recommend her to others.
