Basement Waterproofing reviews in Reston

    Aquaguard Waterproofing
We have had water issues throughout our home for many years. Last year we did the roof, this year the basement. We interviewed many basement repair companies and the quotes and solutions were all over the place. Rick from Aquaguard came to our house - no pressure, reviewed the reasons we were getting water and the solutions available. We liked what he had to say and it made sense - can't say that was true with all our quotes. The crew arrived on time and went right to work. Wrapped our basement in plastic and talked to us about the process from the start to finish. What really impressed us about Aquaguard was exactly what Rick said happened. This was not true when we replaced our roof. If you are looking for a reputable company that does what they say this is the one. We appreciate everything Aquaguard did and will refer them to friends!

    B-Dry Waterproofing and Foundation Repair
The repair ultimately went well. The technician was efficient, knowledgable, and explained what he was doing very clearly. It appears that the repair has solved the problem. However, after the initial estimate was made and a down payment was made, I had difficulty contacting the scheduler to schedule the repair. Several calls went unreturned over a two week period. Ultimately I contacted the manager who got the scheduler to contact me and schedule the repair.

    A A Action Waterproofing Inc
Jason arrived promptly and examined the wall both inside and outside of our townhouse. He said it was due to leakage from our downspout. When I asked if his company did this kind of work, he said if it was part of a bigger job. He recommended that we contact a gutter and downspout firm from Angie's List. Even though AA Action was not going to do the work, he spent time inspecting our entire wall and even discussed dehumidifiers with us. His honesty and professionalism impressed us no end. I took his card because if we need major work in this area, I would definitely call on them again.

VM Drainage & Erosion Solution LLC
Professional, nice, meticulous on-time crew. We received a pleasant followup call a few days later from their services desk to see if everything had gone well. We've had a ton of rain since the work was performed and our basement has stayed nice and dry. Will use again for our backyard grading and drainage work.

    B-Dry Waterproofing and Foundation Repair
It was pretty seamless. The fella came out and gave me a price. Their price beat every other bid I'd gotten. I signed the contract that they e-mailed over to me, sent it back, and got a call within a few days to schedule the work. They came out 3 days later. The project foreman introduced himself to my wife (I wasn't home), gave her a project walk through sheet, a business card, and got to work. By the time I got home at 1pm they were well on their way to finished. I think my only complaint is that the basement was pretty filthy when they left. I mean they tarped everywhere, floors, over my HVAC and Washer/Dryer... and the concrete that was left behind had to dry, which is probably why they couldn't clean beyond a certain point... but getting up all the left behind dust, rock bits etc was a pain in the ***. That is just me being whiney though (as I just finished cleaning it), because the guys worked their ***** off, and they cleaned reasonably well. As far as the price goes, keep in mind that this was a single, unfinished wall of a townhouse basement.

    Value Dry Waterproofing
They did the work--no complaints with that. But when they removed the drywall, they found that there had been a crack in the foundation wall (where we could clearly see water marks) rather than what they thought had been an upward seepage coming in, so the very expensive, destructive, dirty and messy French drain/sump pump they installed could have solved our problem with a $300 crack filler job. We paid $4000 for a service we didn't need. Not amused. If you need a drain service, I think they probably do pretty well. But find someone else to assess the problem. On the flip side, I accidentally bounced the check I wrote them, and it took a week to sort out an account problem, which is awful on my part. They were really nice about it on the phone. They had every right to be "pissy" but weren't, so I thank them very apologetically for that.

    Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing of VA

We had a very disappointing experience with Mid-Atlantic. They came highly recommended by a neighbor who's used them since 1996, so we didn't look them up on Angie's List, which we later regretted. They gave us a high-pressure but very informative sales pitch on 05/13/2016, and their price for interior waterproofing was half of the quote we got for exterior waterproofing from a competitor. We signed up for their priority installation because we had an ongoing leak that we needed fixed right away.

The first crew came on 05/22/2016 to begin installation and worked all that day and the next. They put down sheets to protect our floors but still managed to get mud on our stairs, carpet, and walls. They also neglected to clean up the pee they left on our toilet seats and left the door wide open in the rain most of the day even though we asked them to keep it closed.

On day 2, an inspector showed up according to schedule and failed the project because the outlet pipe emptied into our yard directly above the place where it was leaking. No one from Mid-Atlantic showed up according to our pre-arranged schedule, and no one called us to tell us what was going on.

We called several times the next day, and they finally showed up well after the window of time we were promised. The foreman never appeared, although he did call when we couldn't communicate with any of the non-English speakers on the team--asking us to cut them a check before final inspection was complete. We had noticed that they still hadnt tied the outlet pipe into the drainage line literally touching it. The foreman couldnt give us a reasonable explanation why this hadnt been done. He did, however, point out that everything had been cemented into place and it was essentially too late to change it now. During this conversation, one of the workers opened the gate and let our dog puppy out into the street. He didn't bother trying to help us get him get him off the street.

The following day, another inspector came and failed them again. Instead of making the drain pipe go uphill as the previous inspector had required, they extended it 1.5 feet into the yard, again directly above the leak. The crew didnt show up again, and no one in the office called. We called the project manager that evening to find out what was going on, and he seemed perplexed that we had failed inspection, not once but twice.

Mid-Atlantic ultimately sent a service tech, who shook his head at what he saw. He tried to tie the outlet pipe into our drainage pipe and left afterward. The following day, we got a knock on our back patio doormuch to our surprise, a two-person service crew was coming back to work. The tech from the previous day said that we had failed inspection again (the inspector had come and gone without our knowledge). The crew planned on running a PVC pipe on top of our lawn, across our entire backyard, but we didnt want exposed PVC pipe across our backyard. We finally convinced them to go back to the original plan, which was to tie the outlet pipe into our existing drainage. They got everything in working order, tested it out, and cleaned up a bit of the mud when they overheard us complaining about it. The next day, it passed inspection.

When the project was completed, we discovered that the back-up battery, which we understood would be the size of a brick, was the size of a mini fridge and was so loud when it turned on for 15 minutes every hour that we could hear it 2 floors up with the door closed. After many phone calls and a lot of negotiating, we convinced Mid-Atlantic to take it back and return our money. They also agreed to pay us a $300 cleaning fee. A few weeks and several additional phone calls later reminding them that they agreed to this, the project manager came out to deliver the check in person. He himself said that the tiles on the floor and the drywall in the basement were damaged more than required by the project.

In the end, we got some of our money back and the basement is waterproof, as far as we can tell. That is the only reason we gave Mid-Atlantic a D instead of an F: they eventually made things right--after we forced their hand.

    All Aspects Waterproofing
Jeff, the technician, was extremely knowledgeable.  He accurately assessed the problem and spent quite a bit of time giving me a thorough overview of the severity (not too severe), and the work that would need to be performed to fix it.  Ultimately, we have not decided yet if we want to pursue the sump pump installation, but if we do, there is no doubt that I would definitely use All Aspects Waterproofing.

    Apex Waterproofing
Although I have not made a decision to take the approach recommended, the service described above provided by Apex's Lou Peyton was excellent. He arrived on time and his description of the problems and outlining of possible solutions were professional and concise. Within just hours of his visit he provided written proposals for interior waterproofing along a front foundation wall in a utility room and exterior waterproofing seal of a front entranceway that were clear and comprehensive. Given its extent, the total cost of the work he was proposing ($6980) was reasonable.

    Apex Waterproofing
I am more than impressed with the work from Apex.  Lou is a true professional and the workers are wonderful.  If the workers or Lou found anything else wrong, they just immediately fixed it without adding on the cost.  They did this for several items, for example, the medal for my window wells were very worn, so they just made new replacements, the area around my dryer vent was open so they calked that all up, the area under the siding could have water splashed up into it, so they also fixed that problem.  They went beyond my expectations!!
It was Lou's idea to install white insulation back down in the basement to make it look nicer.  It looks wonderful and I cannot express my thanks and appreciation for an excellent job.
    Thank you Lou!
