Fence Company reviews in Powhatan

It went very well. Bob met me at the house and we talked where the fence would go and what style would be best. Bob gave me information about the product and the process. I was not at the house when the installation was done but Bob oversaw everything to make sure it went smoothly. Bob and Shane made sure that I was happy with the job until they ran my card through. I hope to have more of the yard fenced at some point and I will call them when I am ready.

We worked directly with Bob, the owner to get a quote, order material and get our new aluminum fence installed. He was very punctual and communicated with us throughout the entire process. The fence was installed in 2.5 days (we have a larger yard) and looks amazing. It was exactly what we were looking for and very affordable. We are beyond thrilled with it!

Rick was prompt in coming out to provide us w/an estimate.  He heard what was important to me and explained exactly what they would install and how it would be done.  The price he provided was competitive w/other quotes I had received.  Chris the superintendent came out the day of the install and walked the property and heard my idea for a small change I wanted.  He made it work at no additional cost to me.  The crew worked all day and for a little while the next day and got the fence finished.  It looks amazing and no dogs have escaped!    I will definitely call Hurricane in the future as we're planning on a more extensive fencing project in the future.  Everyone I worked w/at Hurricane was a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend them!

Extremely well.   Weather was NOT a friend to the schedule or the installation crew (blizzard week!), but when weather permitted, they were there and working hard to get the job done.

The day that the fence was installed was a very rainy, on again, off again, rainy day.  They worked through it, stopping only when they had no choice.  They were still working after dark, but finally had to stop as the rain was coming down pretty hard and it was too dark to finish.  They returned first thing in the morning and completed the project.  I was very impressed with their determination. The owner came out to the house to work up our quote, which he was very accurate on.  His men were very nice and polite.  I would definitely recommend this company.

My wife and I purchased a new house and wanted the large back yard enclosed for our two dogs.  We wanted the fence installed as quickly as possible after closing.  Good neighbor's estimator (Bob) was knowledgable and friendly and gave us a competitive quote for this very large fencing project.  The owner, Shane, kept us informed of the progress.  The materials were delivered the day we closed on the house!  Despite snow and rain, they installed the fencing quickly.  It looks great!
Four months later a gravity latch on a gate broke.  Good Neighbor sent out two knowledgable and friendly installers who replaced the latch at no charge.
I would recommend Good Neighbor Fencing to anyone!

We were pleased with the quality of the fence and the installation process. The company even followed up about one week after installation to be sure we were happy, and we reported favorably.
The problem arose about 5 months later when we began talking to swimming pool contractors. Several visited our house, and all of them within 5 minutes pointed out that our fence did not meet code. The gates opened inward, but the building code for a swimming pool area requires them to open outward. I contacted Minor's Fences. They immediately acknowledged the mistake, saying that the gates do need to swing outward. They said they would come out and fix them. However, one of the gates is positioned on a slope. The gate could not swing outward without the bottom of the gate hitting the driveway. When this was pointed out, Minor Hairfield, the owner, refused to do anything.
Minor said that they put the fence where we told them to, so they have no further responsibility. I said that they are the ones who know and understand building code, so they should have told us that the fence would not meet code if it was located in that position. It would have been easy to move the fence three feet. The gate could have opened outward, and we still would have been happy with the location. What professional contractor would do work that they know does not meet code?
I asked Minor Hairfield to correct the fence so it would meet code. He refused to take any action at all and referred all further communication to his attorney. I reported the problem to the Better Business Bureau. Again, Minor's only response was for the BBB to talk to the attorney of Minor's Fences.
I think it is terrible that a company would:
    1. Knowingly install a fence that does not meet the building code
    2. Refuse to take responsibility for the error
    3. Refuse to correct their error
If you want to work with a professional contractor who puts the customer first, I recommend staying far away from Minor's Fences.

From the start, the owner ( Shane Lacks) returned my initial call for an estimate promptly. He came out a few days later, on time. We discussed options, designs, ,and he showed me an album of their work. He was very courteous and professional. Once we decided to go with Good Neighbor, after other estimates, Shane came out again, to measure again and make sure we were happy with the fence we chose. He kept in contact with me and let me know where we were on the schedule. I used to work for a landscaper, so I know schedules can change due to weather...please keep this in mind and be flexible if you are looking for outdoor work to be done. There was a lot of wet weather which pushed our date back a few days and the job also took a little longer ( rained during the middle of installation ). This is to be expected. The crew he sent was very professional and courteous as well. After the job was completed, Shane made a third visit to inspect and make sure we were happy with the outcome. We are more than happy and wished we had done it sooner! I highly recommend Good Neighbor and will use them in the future if we have other fencing that may need to be installed.

I utilize the team at Seegars Fencing Company a few years back to install a fence around my pool. The team at Seegars Fencing Company really did poor work that ended up costing me a lot of extra money. I ended up having to re-seed my yard 2 times due to the damage they caused during the install. The fence they installed is not symmetrical and many of the panels are of a different length. I would not use this company or recommend them to anyone.

These guys continue to impress me. This is the second time I have hired them to build a fence. The first one they did for me about 4 years ago in our previous house; and it looks and works as good today as it did the day he installed it (with just a slightly natural weathered appearance now). I did not even bother to contact anyone else when I needed my new fence installed. This new one is over 580 feet of fencing, and I knew these guys would do it right!
Shane came out and met me before we purchased the new house, so that we could get our ducks in a row for a quick install after closing. After getting measurements and looking at our budget, he gave me the best deal he could on a couple of options. He carefully explained the pros and cons to some of the different styles and made recommendations based on the fact that a large portion of my fence will be baking in direct sun and how that will impact the gates over the years.
Once we picked a style, he called me back later that evening to tell me he was able to give me a better price on the lumber since we were doing such a large project. He could have just kept the money he saved ? but he passed the savings on to me. That?s not something you see everyday.
He had everything delivered and ready for installation right away. They worked hard though the crummy weather and managed to finish the project on time. We even had a 100 foot section of the fence that cut right through a wooded section of our lot. I gave him permission to cut down what he needed to for the job, and he did that without charging anything extra. They even made friends with the free range chickens that would come over and watch them work and keep them company.
Our dogs really appreciate their new spacious playground.
I have been recommending Good Neighbor Fence to friends for years, and I will continue to do so.
