    Chukatuck Tree Service
Since December I have tried to find a tree service company willing to remove a large pine located on the property line between my detached garage and my neighbor's detached garage. I had several estimates but when I actually attempted to hire someone, they stopped returning my calls and never scheduled a firm start date. One company actually came to do the work, said they changed their mind and left. In desperation I contacted Brent. He is a starter company and not in direct competition with the larger tree service companies as he doesn't have the equipment to undertake certain jobs. Don't be misled though; he is a skilled climber and accomplished an astonishing amount of work despite not having a crane. The estimate he gave was to remove the troublesome limbs rather than remove the entire tree as originally hoped. However, his service and quality of workmanship are head and shoulders above his competition and I see him doing very well for himself. Someone actually answered the phone, Brent called me back the same day and he showed up the day he said he would. As most contractors will tell you, it's difficult to balance estimates and work and he is no exception. Being on the dot punctual is hard when customers and work delays are involved but he did keep me informed by text the whole time. He and his crew worked very hard to remove several large limbs in a tight spot. They were careful for the surrounding buildings and did an exceptional job cleaning up the site afterwards. While he doesn't have the ability to offer complete haul away service like the bigger companies, he did take away 80% of the debris and cut the rest into manageable pieces which they neatly piled on the street for garbage pick up. He's already given me prices for some more work and I will definitely be using him again.

As business owners ourselves (General Repairs LLC) we've heard multiple stories from our customers of contractors that don't call back, do poor work or disappear on them. We couldn't fully appreciate the reality of their experiences and the frustrations associated with it until recently when we had to find someone to remove a tree from our property. We hired Reliable Tree based on a recommendation from a longstanding customer. He is very particular about the work done on his home and we felt that Reliable could be trusted as he was pleased with the quality of their work and their prices were comparable to the other estimates he had gotten. Our customer explained that recently the two owners parted ways but their companies still did jobs together. A pleasant woman answered my call and we were scheduled for an estimate the next day. That afternoon, Rob called to say the job was running long and asked if we could move the appointment to the following day, Friday the 27th. No problem. Friday afternoon, the man who called to say he was on the way was Jim and when he arrived, I was impressed with his demeanor and professionalism. His prices were fair; not the lowest but better than 80% of the other estimates we had received. The tree to be removed is very large and in the middle of two detached garages on the property line so we knew it wasn't an easy job. Jim wrote the prices on the back of his business card and that's when I realized he was the former partner doing the estimate for Rob. While going over the work to be done, I was particularly happy that Jim didn't require our neighbor's fence or vehicles to be removed as he said the crane would be able to lift over everything. This was a relief because our neighbor's truck is inoperable and to move it would have been an imposition to him. Jim said the oak and two other pines would be climbed and the pruned limbs lowered to the ground and hauled out so there was no issue with our work trailers being on the other side of the house. I called him within the hour after our appointment and asked to be put on the schedule. He said he needed to speak with someone about the availability of the crane and would call next week. No one ever called us back and we were beginning to think we needed to find another contractor when Rob called Saturday afternoon February 4th to say they would be there Monday morning. My husband called Rob on Sunday to say we were going to pass on having two of the pines pruned. We wanted just the oak pruned and the large pine removed. He also stated he would be there to meet with Rob Monday morning to insure we were all on the same page about the work to be done as we had not yet received a formal contract. Jim's prices were written on the back of his business card and included the trees but not the verbal price of an additional $200 to grind the stump. Because we wanted the stump ground, our price should have totaled $2350. When Rob arrived today, he proceeded to write the contract but the price for the two trees was $250 more than our quote. When we produced the card with the prices on it, Rob said he would honor it but clearly he wasn't happy. He stated that the tree was larger than Jim described and therefore he brought the smaller crane. In addition, he insisted that the neighbor's vehicles, our trailers and a small ornamental tree be removed. While this supposed miscommunication between the two owners placed us in an awkward and uncomfortable situation, we immediately set to work waking our night shift neighbor to move vehicles and preparing to move trailers to accommodate the equipment. Rob clearly did not like the prices Jim had quoted us and was on the phone discussing this as we finalized with our neighbor that we would jack up the back end of his truck and help push it out of the way, promising to move it back for him when the tree was finished. Suddenly Rob approached us and said he couldn't afford to wait around for everything to be moved and he was going to pass on the job. In complete dismay we told him we could have everything done in 20 minutes and were ready to get the job done today. Mistakenly thinking this was his fault, our neighbor offered to have the truck pushed into his back yard if that would speed things up for us. Despite bending over backwards to accommodate him, Rob still didn't feel it was worthwhile and we parted ways. I cannot understand the purpose of an estimate appointment, in particular with someone who apparently never intended to do the work himself, when Rob planned to write his own prices the day the work was set to start. James was delayed getting to our job on time and further delayed our customer getting to her job as she continued to wait for him. We're embarrassed to have woken and inconvenienced our neighbor unnecessarily. Perhaps Rob made money elsewhere today and it was easy to walk away but it's most unprofessional to disrupt the lives of multiple innocent parties on very short notice because you weren't interested in the job anymore. I cannot overstate how displeased I am with this company ironically named "Reliable" Tree Service

We had a dead tree near our house, fence and deck.  We thought they wouldn't get the chance to take the tree down until Friday but they were able to come earlier!!
They were very kind and professional.  There was good communication.
They cut the tree down without damaging anything!
We will definitely recommend Butch's tree service.  We were very pleased.

It turned out okay. We had some trees that we're concerned about if they needed to be trimmed or not because of the location. We had a really hard time to coordinate our time. When he was finally able to get out here, the tree we're most concerned about was still healthy and we really didn't need anything. They could have communicated better.

I was late in finding a supplier for firewood and they agreed to deliver mid-week for me so I could receive the delivery earlier than their normal schedule allowed.  He called to let me know exactly when they would arrive.  I met them at the house and they were on-time (actually a bit early). It was drizzling/raining that day and that was no problem for our delivery.  I also asked that he look at a couple of trees that need removed and a few that might need trimming.  All went very well!  I will use them again for firewood and plan to have them back when able to remove the dead trees and trim the others.

I have a lot of trees and was concerned about their health and had problems creating a decent lawn in the front yard where I have three really large oak trees.  Went on Angie's List and selected the highest rated thinking I would end up getting several quotes.  I had work done previously but could not find the contact so I had a good idea what it should be.  I called SEVA on Thursday, October 8 and left a voice message for someone to call me back.  Michael called me back the next day on Friday and set up an appointment for the following day to look at the property, make recommendations and provide a quote.  Michael showed up on time and walked the property with me making recommendations and advising me on the health of my trees.  Working with Michael I decided the work that I wanted done and he provided me with an estimate.  It was much better than I expected so based on the quote, his manner and Angie's list rating I decided to go ahead.  Later that day he sent me an email with the quote for approval.  I went back and added some additional work and he responded immediately.  When he was here he said the first they could schedule was for 30 days out  however the next day on Sunday Michael called and due to a change they were able to come on Monday, October 12 if I were agreeable.  I agreed.  They arrived on time, were courteous and professional. Simon and his team worked from 9 to 5 and completed the entire job.  They cleaned up and except for the change made by the work left everything the way they found it (even cleaner in some cases).  The only thing that is not part of the agreement is removing the ground stump which is left to the homeowner to do.  I am completely satisfied and as they also do landscaping will be setting up an appointment for them to help me prepare the lawn and front beds once I have the ground stump moved.

    Arbor Tree Care Inc

I asked a neighbor and they suggested Arbor Tree care.  I could not be home for this removal, and I asked that they take pictures of the roof so that I could make a judgment call about getting a roofer in to take a look.  Although they said they would do this they did not.  Also when I asked if there was any damage to the roof they said that there was no damage.

It just so happened that the neighbors had a handy man over doing some work and he went up and discovered a 3 inch hole in the roof, which he did take a picture of.

I had told Arbor Tree that I would like them to come back later to help , we had another session scheduled for them to come out and give an estimate to trim back the tree that lost a branch and they were a NO SHOW, I waited several hours after our appointment.  Very disappointing and unprofessional.  They have not called back I would not trust this group to keep appointments.

I ended up not buying the wood here because the delivery timing didn't work out (my issue, not theirs) but would definitely recommend anyone call. They were terrific on the phone, were very clear and honest about what they had available, and were totally willing and ready to help.
