From the window to the wall
I hired Rich to complete a repair to my kitchen caused by a sewage backflow, and things could not have gone worse. The work started well enough, but it went downhill quickly from there. His contractors only come out on their time as they have day jobs, and he just uses them on the side. The work they conducted was shoddy, not up to code, and illegal. No permits were pulled either. I tried to address a serious concern with the quality of repairs his subcontractors were conducting (he doesn't seem to actually do any of the work himself) as the work done did not address the contracts work scope was not to code, and was not safe per his own hired 2nd plumber - the first plumber who did the work couldn't come back after being arrested for domestic violence and loosing his tools when his girlfriend left with his truck to find safety. He would not listen and kept talking over me and down to me so I disconnected the call to give him a chance to compose himself. He did not like that, nor did he like hearing that the work that was not done properly needed to be redone. When we reconnected he immediately proceeded to start screaming at me and calling me a "*******." He continued to make a serious fuss in my kitchen before telling me to do the work myself, storming off the job site, and screaming up and down the street that I was a "*******". He then stormed back in to my house without an invitation, and proceeded to scream some more before I instructed him to leave and not return as I was by then fearing for the safety of my family. I have never before seen a grown man fly into such a rage at a reasonable request that he repair his errors. He was paid an initial $3000 deposit on $7000 of contracted work, but none of his work is legal, safe, professional, or salvageable. The faulty plumbing work that his plumber conducted needs to be redone and the damage caused by his plumber repaired at additional cost; the drywall repairs were not properly installed or finished and serious bulges are present; the subfloor wasn't level (before his other subcontractor tore portions of it up and Rich instructed him to stop work when he stormed off site). What is worse, he artificially inflated his costs (e.x. claiming that 7 hours of time from a plumber and handyman costs $1,500), and decided to claim that he successfully completed several items on the contract in an attempt to justify not returning my deposit. He did not complete any work scope successfully or in a workmanlike manner, and in fact caused damage to my property. From what I have seen from Rich Shy and "From the window to the wall" I am forced to question his ethics and morals, and do not believe that any of his actions demonstrate the professionalism one would expect of a contractor. I will most likely need to engage a lawyer to attempt to recover my deposit so that I can pay for competent contractors to come in and repair the damage he caused. I would not feel safe employing Rich Shy, nor am I satisfied with being taken for $3000 and left with additional costs as a result of what I can only describe as negligence and poor workmanship. I cannot and do not recommend Rich Shy, and suggest that you consider alternate contractors with proven professionalism, ethics, and morals.

We just bought our house and wanted to replace the toilet in the main bathroom. The subfloor was rotten in two areas and it snowballed into a complete remodel. The crew discovered a significant leak from the shower in the master bathroom that was the cause of one area of damage. It was quickly repaired and the work was done in no time. Rob and his crew did a great job at a reasonable price. We will definitely go back to Kitchen Emporium when it's time to replace the kitchen cabinets.

    Home Floors Galore
I reached out to Home Floors Galore after reading their reviews here and other sites. Mr. Mark came out and gave an estimate to have already purchased flooring put down, and walked me through everything step by step. He was very very sweet and assured me we would be very well taken care of. ( I had told him the horror stories of our home and contractors. ) The pricing was reasonable compared to others and it was very comforting knowing that he was also a wood floor inspector for the state. Very well experience and excellent mannered. We were in a bit of a rush due to having a lot of company coming to visit soon and we were walking on bare sub floors in some areas. So he assured me that he would help make us a priority. We decided to take his bid and accept the contract. The gentlemen he had come out to do the work (Sean and Randy) we very polite and so kind to our sweet girls. They made sure to always say hello to the girls, as they were very curious about the work they were doing. The confirmed what we had needed done and got to work right away. They were not only fast, but excellently crafted. It went so much smoother than I expected due to past experiences. They really restored my faith in contractors. Sean and Randy went above and beyond to make sure our family was well cared for. Their eye for detail was amazing. Over all this was the most pleasant experience we have had ever with a contracted job. They also helped save us tons of money when they discover water damage in our bathroom and laundry room. If they had not fully inspected that area, and just covered it with floor we would have been out of luck later on down the road. So such a big thanks to them.

    R & R Home Repair & Remodeling
ie's The job done was a fair one his tile man was slow and left one tile ungrouted which I ended up fixing. I understand he let that tile man go. But over all I was pleased with the job. I got an estimate from another company before I went with Angie's List and they wanted more that twice as much for an acrylic surround. I ended up getting a lovely tile shower and tile flooring. for my mother's house that was convenient for her to use.

    All Nations Floors Design Center
The initial installation went pretty well, but the electrician left before the thermostat check was done.  I had to work with the manufacturer to get a red alert to go off.  The thermostat was in idle over the summer but when I activated in the fall of 2013, I got another alert.  I called the manufacturer, but couldn't get it to work.  I called All Nations and told them it might defective.  It took constant calling before a new electrician came out.  He determined a replacement thermostat was needed. I was repeatedly told by All Nations that it was on order, but was subsequently told in late December that the order slipped through the cracks.  I waited another month (with constant calling) before the electrician came back with the thermostat; however, he did a good job, and it worked over rest of the winter.  In the meantime the transition was coming up.  I went through the same long process.  In June 2014, I was astonished to get a bill for $700 from the electrician, with a threat of a subcontractor's lien on my property.  I called him, and he apologized but said that he hadn't been paid by All Nations for the work done in January.  I called All Nations and they said there was a dispute over the fee but it had been taken care of and payment was being sent.  I called the electrician a month later to make sure he was dropping the lien threat, but he said that he still hadn't been paid.  I called All Nations and apparently the dispute was still ongoing.  I finally gave up and hoped for the best. (I don't think the electrician followed through on the lien.)  In March 2015, my year old thermostat went out again. I'm going to bypass All Nations and try to get it fixed myself.  In the meantime, some of the floor has "unclicked" and some transition is coming up.

    New Dominion Contractors Inc
I found New Dominion Contractors through Angie?s List, I was looking for estimates for a complete kitchen renovation.  I chose Joe because I liked the reviews, and I could see through his website that he does great work.  I emailed him and he promptly returned my call the following morning.  He came out to take a look very soon thereafter and we went through the business of gathering the data for the estimate.  We discussed the problems I had with the current kitchen and some of the changes I wanted (meaning I showed him a bunch of pictures on Pinterest).  I was anxious to hear Joe?s advice because I had ideas, but no vision of how I wanted the final product to look.  His input and that of the cabinet guy were superb.  After we talked, Joe prepared the estimate and had it back to me promptly.  It was incredibly detailed and he went through it with me line by line, and was careful to point out that the numbers included were ?middle of the road? and would perhaps go up or down depending on my selections (cabinets, sink, faucet, etc.). I ended up spending more than the contract price because I selected a more expensive appliances.  I was a bit uncomfortable proceeding from that point (signing the contract, paying the deposit, etc.) without yet having any drawings, I felt like the details weren?t very firmed up.  However things came together without a hitch..
Next step was meeting up with Joe's cabinet subcontractor about, that?s right, the cabinets.  He knew exactly how to configure the new space based on my needs and he had a complete set of drawings to me within a couple of days.  Construction started on time, and I was given a 5-6 week window for completion of the work.  If I had a complaint, it would be that it was difficult to get the subcontractors arranged so the work ran smoothly and without interruption.  I was partially to blame.  Rather late in the game, I ordered a floor medallion and when the delivery date got buggered up, it threw the entire work schedule off by a week or so.  On the other hand, crossed lines were inevitable (I anticipated that) and there were
days when workers just didn?t show up.  Another shout out goes to Joe's hardwood flooring contractors.  They laid the medallion seamlessly, it looks like it was manufactured that way.  They also had to blend a custom stain for me so the kitchen floor would match the existing floor.

Joe supervised the entire job, and he had no other client while my kitchen was underway.  There were various problems with the appliances I purchased, and he handled them entirely and with grace?even fielding some of the issues I could have dealt with myself.  I can?t TELL you how much that soothed my stress level.  Joe discussed with me any questions that popped up along the way, including those regarding the tiniest details.  His workmanship and attention to the small things really made the experience as painless as something of this magnitude can be.  Any phone calls and text messages were returned immediately and he kept all the plates spinning, sometimes after hours.  I sincerely felt that Joe put this job and any issues I had FIRST.  I found him quite charming and saw none of the issues about which some reviewers were braying.
I would highly recommend New Dominion Contractors.  I felt the price I paid was fair, especially as I received a fabulous new kitchen (well, let?s face it?none of us want to be parted from hard earned dollars).  Things worked out so well that we?re headed into Project No. 2 immediately. I could go on, but I?m tired of typing.  Do it.  You?ll be glad you did.

    Anderson Flooring Inc
This was my second time using Anderson, they do great work. I was very please at the out come of my floors. I did not realize what I had under that carpet could look so good. I would highly recommend and I tell everyone about them. They also moved my furniture and put it back. Great price for great work.

Everyone was extremely helpful and polite. I called to get an estimate and someone came that afternoon. The gentlemen that came did an awesome job on my dining room floor. There was one small place that puddled in the corner and they came back, sanded the place and re-coated the whole floor. They were very professional and I will use them again.

Hatchett Design Remodel were very professional, very prompt, the young lady who came and spoke with us was very knowledgeable but their prices just seemed much more than what we wanted to spend on such a small bathroom. If you are within their price range, they do beautiful work, from what I saw, their quality of work was excellent and they do a professional job. Everything just depends on the value of your home and unfortunately we just couldn't afford it although I did tell the young lady by email, that if things changed, we would definitely use them for future projects based on their quality of work. I would tell other people looking into using them that they are professional, courteous, prompt, they say what they are going to do, their product is outstanding and if you can afford it, you will get your bucks value but you do have to the money to invest into their product.
