From the window to the wall
I hired Rich to complete a repair to my kitchen caused by a sewage backflow, and things could not have gone worse. The work started well enough, but it went downhill quickly from there. His contractors only come out on their time as they have day jobs, and he just uses them on the side. The work they conducted was shoddy, not up to code, and illegal. No permits were pulled either. I tried to address a serious concern with the quality of repairs his subcontractors were conducting (he doesn't seem to actually do any of the work himself) as the work done did not address the contracts work scope was not to code, and was not safe per his own hired 2nd plumber - the first plumber who did the work couldn't come back after being arrested for domestic violence and loosing his tools when his girlfriend left with his truck to find safety. He would not listen and kept talking over me and down to me so I disconnected the call to give him a chance to compose himself. He did not like that, nor did he like hearing that the work that was not done properly needed to be redone. When we reconnected he immediately proceeded to start screaming at me and calling me a "*******." He continued to make a serious fuss in my kitchen before telling me to do the work myself, storming off the job site, and screaming up and down the street that I was a "*******". He then stormed back in to my house without an invitation, and proceeded to scream some more before I instructed him to leave and not return as I was by then fearing for the safety of my family. I have never before seen a grown man fly into such a rage at a reasonable request that he repair his errors. He was paid an initial $3000 deposit on $7000 of contracted work, but none of his work is legal, safe, professional, or salvageable. The faulty plumbing work that his plumber conducted needs to be redone and the damage caused by his plumber repaired at additional cost; the drywall repairs were not properly installed or finished and serious bulges are present; the subfloor wasn't level (before his other subcontractor tore portions of it up and Rich instructed him to stop work when he stormed off site). What is worse, he artificially inflated his costs (e.x. claiming that 7 hours of time from a plumber and handyman costs $1,500), and decided to claim that he successfully completed several items on the contract in an attempt to justify not returning my deposit. He did not complete any work scope successfully or in a workmanlike manner, and in fact caused damage to my property. From what I have seen from Rich Shy and "From the window to the wall" I am forced to question his ethics and morals, and do not believe that any of his actions demonstrate the professionalism one would expect of a contractor. I will most likely need to engage a lawyer to attempt to recover my deposit so that I can pay for competent contractors to come in and repair the damage he caused. I would not feel safe employing Rich Shy, nor am I satisfied with being taken for $3000 and left with additional costs as a result of what I can only describe as negligence and poor workmanship. I cannot and do not recommend Rich Shy, and suggest that you consider alternate contractors with proven professionalism, ethics, and morals.

    Castle Drywall & Plaster
The quality of the work was terrific. The workers were well mannered, highly skilled, neat, and a pleasure to have in my home. I could not have asked for more competent or professionally skilled artisans working on my historic 100+ year old home. I highly recommend this company and would use them again myself in the future.

    Castle Drywall & Plaster
Poorly. It took too long; often working half-days only. Drywall mud slung around carelessly on walls and doors. Paint drops on floors and three window shades ruined. Edges of ceilings at walls poorly finished. In the end the owner personally came to try to make it good, but the overall experience and work quality were disappointing.

    New Dominion Contractors Inc
All the projects NDC worked on for me went very, very well. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted or even what was possible for the renovations because the footprints of the rooms couldn't be significantly altered (this house is very old). Joe gave me great suggestions and helped me visualize the finished product. He gave me plenty of time to purchase the items that suited my taste and had excellent suggestions for vendors that were very accommodating. His subcontractors were very skilled and provided their services on a timely basis. Joe took steps to protect my floors and carpets from damage and dust. While work was underway, Joe never once let phone my calls roll over to voicemail. He answered every call I made, no matter the time. He also took care of some of the items that were on my checklist that I was unsure about or that confused me, and never once showed any impatience or attitude. I very much enjoyed working with NDC and will use him for the rest of our renovations and updates.

    General Repairs LLC
Never having this type of service before, I was skeptical at first, but was put at ease after the first meeting with James. I received the quotes in a timely manner via e-mail attachments. James was always punctual and communicated regularly on his progress. Other roof leaks occurred during the time James was working on our house, and he readily stepped in and helped us figure out the cause. He even called us and came back the week after he had finished the job just to check the moisture reading in the walls and ceiling of the room where we had had a leak. This was a very nice gesture and something he didn't have to do. What contractor does that these days!! James is very professional and does outstanding quality work. He genuinely cares about the work he is doing and meeting and exceeding the needs and expectations of the customer. I would highly recommend General Repairs and will not hesitate to use them again in the future.

It was fabulous. I have used him several times. Chris, the owner/craftsmen, is great. He is friendly. his work is excellent. He blends the repaired areas in with the ceiling or wall. I can't recommend him enough.

John installed 3 custom doors to help create a finishing touch to a converted attic space. One of the doors was to the crawl space and had to be custom built, framed and trimmed.
The door to the closet for the water heater had to be significantly modified to fit an opening that couldn't be altered; framed and trimmed very nicely.
John cut out drywall and reframed the clothes closet doorway to create more head-room, and installed the door.
We are very happy with John's work and adaptability...we not only challenged him with wacky attic dimensions, we also chose arch top paneled doors. Great job!!

M&D Home Repairs & Remodeling LLC
I purchased the big deal. I gave them a description of everything that needed to be done realizing that they probably wouldn't be able to accomplish everything in the time I wanted. I was really pleased. Ivan sent an email following up with the exact materials that were needed. The crew showed up on time and nearly finished everything on my list. They patched all the holes, painted the ceiling of the main room I wanted done and painted a bathroom. They did a great job and I am very pleased with what they did. You can't even notice where the holes were. I would definitely use them again.

Everything was done very professional. Cleaned up like nothing was ever done. It was a big job a full room to be plastered and a swirled patched in the hall way. Repaired three celling and repaired a bathroom wall.
We are very pleased & will give his name to anyone we know.

They're not as responsive. The quality of work was kind of odd. I had a little issue with the first product that they did. They changed out the worker. After that, it was nice. At the same time, the initial performance was not to my satisfaction.
