Josh and crew were very efficient. The job was completed In a day. My first contact was Steve Lyon, the owner and I was very impressed that he called me right away and even followed up with an email thanking me for contacting him. The patio looks beautiful.

    Done Right Handyman Svc
The crew  of 2 people showed up early!!!  Who does that anymore??    They were knowledgeable and extremely professional.  Even with bad instructions that came with the gazebo, they were able to put together the gazebo in no time...Saved me so much time and frustration.
I didn't have the right tools to bolt down the gazebo on the day of install, but  Kenny was kind enough to squeeze me in the next day to take care it.
I will use Kenny and his crew(daughter) for all handyman type jobs.  The gazebo is beautiful and secure!

    Armor Fence & Deck
I just purchased a new property in Portsmouth. It needed a new fence to shield the backyard from the street. Billy was there for me the very next day. this is the third time I've called him to put up a fence on one of my properties. He is fast, cheerful, and always does a great job. He also replaced the damaged steps and railings on the back porch and replaced the front porch railings.  I will be calling him again the next time I have fencing or deck building needs.

    J & G FENCE & DECK Co.
When I sat down and signed the contract, I was told he is the only one he feels is qualified well enough in the company to complete the deck so he will be the one working on it. We were told it would be half up front and the rest at the completion. When the deck was going in it was found underneath the doors the the sun room was rotted out. Needed to be replaced and we would need to replace the old glass sliding doors also. We purchased them and he knew a guy would would put them in, replace the rotted out wood and trim out the door. for the 12 days it took to get the doors finally installed, we asked how much it was going to cost. He never told be. Mean while, he knew a guy who dig out the area for our pool, again never told us the price. nothing was signed on a contract he just got it done. We thought it was a favor for taking so long on getting the deck completed. The doors were the only thing that was installed he had to fix the rot. It took a month and a half to get the trim put up on the inside.. Again did not tell me it would cost me a dime. During the whole duration of the deck, I had the worst time trying to get in touch with him. He would not return emails, calls or texts. He would tell me that he was coming over that day first thing and I would not see or here from him for a few days. He was not solely dedicated to doing our deck, he kept working on fences, driveways and anything but our deck. It started feeling like he was using our deck as a weekend hobby. Now the deck is completed and I paid the remaining balance of the contract, he wants money for the other things he had completed while I was waiting on the deck to get completed. I do not have anything on a contract and I never agreed to any price or anything, he just went and got them done without my approval. He does a great job at building decks, but he is the worst at communication and promises. I would be very careful hiring him for any job that takes longer than a day if you want it done in a quick fashion.

Robert the owner was very quick to get back to me and set up an appointment for an estimate. When he came to the house I told him what we were looking to do. While outside in the back he gave suggestions on how the deck should be shaped to give it a nice appearance. Out of the three companies we had come out, he was the only one that told us about a wood that looks very clean without any knots on it. We had never heard of it before. Everyone else just told us they only used composite and nothing else. Robert also suggested metal and wood railings for a better look and he was right on! They were suppose to start on a Monday, but could not due to another project needing an extra day. Robert let us know ahead of time and we were good with it. His crew showed up the next day about 8:30 and had the old deck gone by mid afternoon. They were done before the materials arrived! The two gentlemen he had building our new deck were great. Always cleaned up after themselves and made sure no nails, screws, etc were left on the ground(we have 2 dogs and that is a concern). When our deck was finished there was some left over materials and a little bit a trash, but another gentleman from the company came and cleaned it all up and left the backyard exactly the way it was. We could not be more happier with the finished result. Robert was right about his suggestions and how it would look. It is beautiful! I would absolutely use this company again and recommend them to anyone.

    Quality Built Exteriors
I originally bought the $59 Angie's List special deal because I thought I had a leak in a wall in my living room that was coming from a broken shingle on the outside. Mike came to my house and diagnosed the situation. He said the apparent "water damage" to the molding was not coming from a leak in the wall. I had a bookcase sitting over an air vent that, in the summer, serves an AC unit but, in the winter, serves a humidifier. He said the moist air was being blocked by the bookcase and forced to the wall.  The house is over 90 years old and, somewhere down the line, most likely had a layer of lead paint on the molding. He said lead paint would buckle when it got damp. Some other contractor might have told me the wall needed to be replaced but, Mike said, "All you need to do is, move the bookcase, scrape off the old paint and repaint it." He said, he would fix the broken shingle (because, even though it wasn't leaking yet, it really did need to be fixed) and he would also do the repairs to the gutter and siding (that had been damaged by Cox cable!) and he would also repair the storm window on the second floor, all for the $59 in the original deal. I was so impressed by that, I asked him about re-coating the roofs of both side porches. That should be done about every 5 years and it had been 8 years since it was last done. There were also 3 or 4 places on each roof that needed repairs. He said he would do it all for $600. I thought that was a reasonable price so, I signed up. I paid half before the job was done and half after. He does offer financing but, I prefer to pay cash. Larry, one of Mikes' employees, came out on the scheduled day last week, even though there was still snow on the roof.  He determined he couldn't do very much that day so, we rescheduled for today. He came out, right on time. He was so quiet, I hardly knew he was in the yard. By noon, he had half of the job done. He went to lunch and finished all of the work before 3:00. He cleaned up, never broke so much as a twig from my trees, and everything was spotless. I can see both porch roofs from second floor windows and they look better than they have in years. I was impressed that the work was done so quickly and so well. I have already recommended Quality Built Exteriors to a friend in Olde Towne who needs some work done on his slate roof.

    Belletto Construction Inc
So first the caveat that I know Dan personally as he is my neighbor. However, I don't have issues calling someone out if they can't get a job done - neighbor or not! (This is probably because I run a family business and have learned to separate business and personal relationships). I've always believed it is important to write a review to inform others, good or bad, as this is the way I most often choose services; that is by word of mouth. Also, if you're reading this Dan - I expect a discount on the next job! (kidding, but I won't complain if you take it seriously)
Anyways, I had seen some of Dan's work and decided to hire him on to provide a complete update of our decades-old main bathroom. He provided a detailed estimate of the work and what was expected from both parties. For example, which items I was responsible for providing, which he would provide and so on. He also helped select some of the fixtures and gave advice on what the popular styles were. As a contractor myself, I am not overly impressed by someone getting a job done, after all that's what I'm paying you to do. What impresses me is how a contractor overcomes the inevitable problems that arise on almost every large project. Dan and his crew did a fantastic job dealing with the existing bomb shelter-like walls of the bathroom and unexpected rot of a portion of the sub floor. The project stayed on budget and on time which to me is very important. Our bathroom looks impressive and we receive compliments regularly from our guests who have the pleasure of taking care of business in our new look.
Since then I've hired Belletto Construction to tile a sunroom, repair an exterior garage door, and create a custom, removable screen enclosure for my garage door (this turned out to be an awesome addition to the garage for a minimal amount of money!). I am currently saving up to have them update our master bathroom in the spring. I'll write a review on that as well when it is complete.
In summary, Dan's an honest contractor whose primary concern is customer satisfaction. If you're looking for a local company to get a project completed in a timely and professional manner, consider Belletto Construction. There should be pictures of our bathroom before and after on their website to give you a visual of what we had done.

George is an awesome contractor! He provided a detailed quote for the job and took all the time we needed to explain everything to us. Our home backs up to a wildlife preserve which created some unique issues for the permit process. George directed us to the people we needed to get the necessary permits.
At every step of the process, George communicated frequently to keep us updated on the status of our project. He was always responsive to our emails and phone calls and provided so much up-front information that we rarely had questions.
The project started right on time. George and Zack worked every day except a few that were too rainy for work. I've never seen anyone work harder than those two men. Even with the rain days, the project was done right on time!
There is no one I'd recommend more for a screened porch, deck, or any kind of project.
If I could give Casa Decks a grade higher than an A, I would. Consider my grade for this company to be A+++++!

3D Builders of VA, Inc. were good. But I ended up building a deck instead of a sun room and went to a different builder for that. They were nice and personable. They came out to the house like I asked and they gave me a fair estimate.

.    I decided to give Robert an opportunity to redeem himself for the missed appointment. I found him to be personable  and very apologetic. It was a job well done and he also promised me come Sping , free labor to stain the deck. He has demonstrated to me to be a man of his word!!
