    Chucks' Construction Co
The work went well. Chuck did a great job of understanding my needs, suggesting helpful changes, communicating the plans, documents, schedule with me, and once installed, the cabinets were beautiful. However, shortly after installation, paint began chipping off drawers and cabinets in rather large flakes, almost as if they werent primed correctly. I called to report the problem, and CCS picked up the damaged pieces and repainted them without question. Sadly, the problem began again after they were re-installed. I emailed CCS and explained the problem and received a terse reply from Chucks secretary, saying she put me on the schedule, but that they couldnt fit me in any time soon. She also stated that they had already touched the cabinets up once and advised that I should only be using Windex on them and not harsh chemicals. That email was dated August 10, 2018. I responded, noting her lack of patience, but emphasizing that after such a costly project I was hoping for better durability. I have not heard from them since. It could be that Chuck never received my request for repair, that it never made it past his secretary, I dont know. However, I DO know that I paid a LOT of money for those cabinets and they are NOT holding up well at all. I use only warm water on them and wipe them dry with a cotton cloth. I use no harsh chemicals. Additionally, I don't appreciate the implication that the paint was peeling because I wasn't careful with their upkeep. The cabinets themselves are well made, sturdy, and beautiful but the quality of the work is not the issue. Regardless of the workmanship, they look cheap because of all the peeling paint. I'm disappointed in the lack of response from the business and wouldn't use them again. I'm now left something I don't know how to fix.

    ASAP CONSTRUCTION LLC
I contacted Chris and he gave me an estimate within a few days. His price was competitive and I chose him because he seemed very professional, knowledgeable and personable. I also liked that his company was one of the few I could find that specializes in moisture damage and wood rot. I also checked with his insurance company and the state licensing department and found that everything checked out. (Not everyone who claims to be licensed and insured always are). We set a date that meet both of our schedules and Chris arrived on that date with the proper materials and equipment and began the needed work. He finished the front area promptly, but found more, internal damage at the back of my house. Some of the structural wood was also rotted and we determined it would also need to be replaced. This, of course, made the job more time consuming and complicated. Chris was a pro and figured out the best way to tackle the job and fix the cause of the moisture damage. He finished up all the work the following day and the end result was excellent. I was at work for most of the project, but Chris texted progress photos so I could see exactly how he was fixing things and we talked a number of times to consult. Great work. I was very pleased with the whole job. It's rare to find a craftsman who is skilled and really seems to care about doing a good job. And on top of it all, Chris was just a really good guy. I highly recommend Chris and would definitely hire him again if I need that type of service.

    W.T. Anderson Corp
My experience with W.T. Anderson was one of the best I have ever had with a contractor. From the first contact I had with them, to the work crew, to the after completion interview every single person was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. The work performed was of the highest quality, they cleaned up every day and most importantly to me they started my job the day they said they would and finished on time without any delay. I have to add that even my kids, one in college and one in high school, commented as to how hard the guys worked and how friendly they were. I would refer W.T. Anderson to anyone.

    General Repairs LLC
Never having this type of service before, I was skeptical at first, but was put at ease after the first meeting with James. I received the quotes in a timely manner via e-mail attachments. James was always punctual and communicated regularly on his progress. Other roof leaks occurred during the time James was working on our house, and he readily stepped in and helped us figure out the cause. He even called us and came back the week after he had finished the job just to check the moisture reading in the walls and ceiling of the room where we had had a leak. This was a very nice gesture and something he didn't have to do. What contractor does that these days!! James is very professional and does outstanding quality work. He genuinely cares about the work he is doing and meeting and exceeding the needs and expectations of the customer. I would highly recommend General Repairs and will not hesitate to use them again in the future.

    Glow Electric
We know that this contractor has done good work, based on current "A" rating; but the carpentry work for us was a sad experience in several ways. In early August, Gary Martin gave us a low estimate and said the job, which involved temporary supports for the flat roof, was simpler than other contractors had told us. We offered to let him wait for cooler weather and after our planned trip to Vermont, but he insisted on starting before that. From Saturday to Monday, interrupted by a severe storm, his wife and his carpenter worked with only occasional supervision by him rather than his full participation that we had expected. We agreed on an add-on to replace all of the screens because they could not be salvaged; that doubled the price. We foolishly paid him for that as he left on Monday before the job was finished, and his workers left soon afterward without calling us to inspect the work. During the job, they borrowed our 6' ladder and our best hammer. Only the ladder was returned to our outbuilding, to which we had allowed them access for electricity. Before leaving for Vermont two days late, we sent an email about those losses as well as complaints about external TV cables left unsecured and imperfect abutting of old with new sills, but got no response. In September after the treated wood cured, our trusted painter discovered sloppy workmanship such as unset nails, screen edges not trimmed at the top outside, and failed grout joints below the sills; he repaired these at additional cost to us.

    Best Roofing of Virginia
I contacted Best Roofing via Angies List.  They were responsive to my initial and subsequent inquiries.  They provided an estimate that, compared to the half a dozen other estimates, were by far the best value for the money.  We don't live in the local area where the work was performed, so we conducted all of our business over the phone, via email, and Angies List messaging.  None of this was a problem...they returned calls and responded to email surprisingly quickly!  The work was actually done while we were out of the country, so they worked closely with my property manager to ensure acceptance of the final product.  The owner patiently and favorably worked with me when there was an issue with the Angies List coupon.  My overall experience with Best Roofing was phenomenal.
My only recommendation to any Angies List members who want to use a coupon for Best Roofing or any other company on Angies List, is READ THE FINE PRINT before you purchase the coupon.

    Chesapeake Custom Builders
Never obtained required permits; did not provide adequate qualified workers; a 5 week job was going on 3 months, when Travis Riley posted a sign on his door stating he was CLOSED FOR BUSINESS.  After paying him he told his employees that he could not pay them because we had not paid him.  Completely false.
We are now obtaining quotes from other "reputable" and qualified contractors to have the work completed and will take legal action against the owner and his company  for reimbursement of additional expenses, and pain and suffering.
DO NOT HIRE unless you intend to have a half-finished product and obtain an attorney to get your money back!!!

    Jerry Harris Remodeling
I have had quite few huge jobs done in my 70 year old house by these guys. They were just great. They have always showed up on time and always got the job done right. Most of these jobs were done at different times so it is hard to say exactly how much I paid for each. This was a very expensive job though but it was all worth it. They did great.
