Chimney Sweeping reviews in Portsmouth

Matt responded immediately and set up appointment. He was professional, on time, knowledgeable, honest and efficient. Worked from both up on the roof and inside the house. Did a great job at a reasonable price- very happy, highly recommend! 😀

This company inspected both chimneys & recommended flashing, caps, sealing & added mortar repair to contract. Mortar not repaired. 1 chimney in such bad condition it has to be removed. Waste of money getting any work done on that. Still had leak in front chimney but flashing and cap looked nice. Mortar not repaired. Young guys did the work. Very polite but question their skills & experience given result. Owner ignored repeated requests for partial refund. Took him to court, he didn't show. I won judgment against him. He ignored many, many requests for payment, and failed to receive/Call back numerous attempts by sheriff deputies to serve summons. He ignored a summons sent by VA State Corporation Commission, and even a bench warrant. I still have not received a penny. I recommend strongly you stop recommending this company.

The work was done as promised. They promptly returned my call to set up an appointment. The two gentlemen that came out were very professional and thorough. They arrived on time which is very important and took time to review their findings. I would use this company again.

I specifically asked to be notified prior to their arrival as I knew I had a small area that leaked and needed a small amount of Henry compound. Problem is they did not contact me and performed the inspection without me. I contacted the company and they sent a guy out who did a good job which only took him 15 minutes and a very small amount of material. I was charged an additional 50.00. I was happy to get the leak fixed. Overall I am happy with the service and the fact I got the roof inspection, but would liked to have captured it all in the first visit and not had to pay the additional $50.00. Overall good company and the technician was very professional.  I would recommend them.

They quickly emailed us back for a phone number to call us to schedule the work.  Valerie reached out to me and we scheduled the time for them to come out to be on January 13th between the hours of 12-2pm.  The next day I got a call back and Valerie left a voicemail that said an error was made and that the technician wasn't working that day and wanted to see if the 19th of January would work better.  I called back and said that the 19th wasn't going to work because I had already taken that time off on the 13th and wasn't able to get off of work on the 19th.  I asked Valerie if their was any way we could do it earlier on the 13th and she said they could be their between 8-10am on the 13th.  I thanked her for working that out.

The next call I got from Valerie was letting me know that she was calling me back again to reschedule because that day wasn't going to work.  I asked to speak to the owner, Tom Gonzalez.  I was told I wouldn't be able to speak to him but that she could have her Scheduling Supervisor, Marie, give me a call.  The next day I received a call from Marie.  I explained to her what has been going on and she apologized and said that she was going to find some way to move around some appointments to make sure someone was there on January 13th between 8-10am.

Here I have sat, off from work, today January 13th and at 9:30 I call back and I speak with Valerie.  I informed her of the conversation I had with Marie and I told her she was going to make sure someone was out here between 8-10am.  Valerie said she would call out to Marie and give me a call back.  I received a call back and Valerie apologized that Marie wasn't able to talk to me because she was in a meeting but that she said that she wasn't able to move around the appointments and no one would be showing up today.  She said Marie tried to call me but wasn't able to get in touch with me, which isn't true because I never received a phone call nor my wife) but said Marie said she could GUARANTEE that they would definitely be here at an appointment time that Valerie and I were to set.  I told Valerie that the GUARANTEE meant nothing and that I would work to get my money back.  I asked Valerie to have the owner give me a call and she said she would pass the message but said I should email him.

Very poor scheduling and very poor customer service.  I won't be using them and I will be shocked if I get a call back from the owner.  I'm also interested to see the response back from them on Angie's List.

I encourage anyone looking to get their Chimney cleaned to do it with another company.

After reading so many lovely reviews about AH Wickline I thought I would give them a try. Everything started out great. I called for a free estimate, and they came out within a couple days exactly when they said they would. They were very friendly and did a detailed job, saying I needed a new chain for my chimney cap (which we knew was broken) and that they needed to repair the re-point some of the brickwork on the chimney exterior. They even took photos of the chimney and the work that needed to be done. The owner said I will call you tomorrow with an estimate because they needed to look up the cost of the chain. He said- if I don't call you, you call me. That's when it all began.
He did not call me the next day so I called him and left a message. He never returned my phone call. I called the following week and he did not return my phone call. I called the following week after that and got a hold of him - but I had to remind him who I was and what I wanted done (he had no idea), and he said he would call me back with an estimate but he never did. I waited another week to call and again, had to explain everything all over again and he said it would be between $250-$300 depending on the chain cost and then didn't follow up with an actual estimate (he was still speculating). I gave up and my husband started after him. Myy husband called and was able to schedule an appointment after a few tries. They came out and said the job was $225 just to fix the chimney cap/chain but they had no idea they were also supposed to point the brickwork.
In summary: they never ONCE called me with an estimate or returned any of my messages and when I did catch them on the phone they always forgot who I was and what I wanted done. The entire process took about 4 weeks. I assume we were just unlucky because of everyone else's positive experiences, and they must have just dropped the ball on us, but boy did they ever.

Were very prompt.  They moved furniture and laid down covers.  They vacuumed as they went along and didn't leave a speck of dust anywhere.  I live in an old house and was surprised they didn't "find" anything wrong with my chimney.  They told me it was in great shape and didn't try to sell me more services I didn't need.  In and out in less than an hour.  I would definitely use them again.

Performed an inspection on the fire bricks, video scanned the flue, inspected the flashing and cap. Found out that the mortar needs to be repaired in the flue, Josiah V. Will be sending the video and a quote for the repair.

Very courteous and professional.  Arrived just a few minutes before schedule, explained briefly what he'd be doing, performed his work with an assistant, and informed me of a few repairs that I might need to the flue and the chimney cap.  I declined the additional service, he thanked me for the business, and left.   Very good impression of these guys.  I'd definitely use them again, and will in fact on another house we own in the area.

That went well. They were quick, efficient and thorough. 2 technicians came out and it took them about 45 minutes. Their clean-up was good too; They cleaned the chimney and cleaned up what they had to clean up.
