After having a good experience with THI on my exterior work five years ago, I've always gone back to them to have other projects done. My experience with this company has been very positive.

The employees of THI are very courteous and professional.  They come on time and with a positive attitude.  The project managers that I worked with (I had the same person for two of my jobs and a different person for this latest huge remodel) were very knowledgeable of every aspect of the job.  They both did a good job scheduling all of the trades workers and keeping everything moving forward.  They both communicated very well with me and I always knew exactly who was coming, what they were coming to do, and when they would be there.  Did everything go exactly on schedule - well no.  I added several changes to the job, including gutting and redoing another bathroom at the last minute.  So we had to adjust time frames and expectations.  When we had a delay in the cabinet installation, due to my decision to rip out old plaster and replace with new drywall, Greg, the project manager worked swiftly and deliberately to catch us back up so we could finish as projected.

THI uses good sub contractors.  The floor, tile, electrical, and plumbing guys rocked.  They use small companies so there isn't a crew coming into your home.  The tile installer works alone.  The electrical company has two employees so the same two come every time and get to know your home electrical system well.  Same with the plumbers and floor installers.  I like that about THI.  Sure it isn't as fast sometimes as if a crew is sent in, but these trades people were truly professional, treating my house like their own.  I believe they did a better job than a bigger company would, and had more pride in their work.  To be honest, the owner of the dry wall company they used for my job was a bit rude, but Total Home Improvements quickly remedied that issue once I let them know.  All of the other sub-contractors were so very nice and professional and respectful.  I feel very fortunate to have met these fine craftsmen.

My experience with the sales representatives has also been very positive.  I used the same sales rep for two of my projects and he partnered with another sales rep on the major interior renovation they just finished.  They worked with me on the design and we made adjustments along the way.

I do not have any experience with the painters, however.  i have a painter that I have used for years (also works alone) so I opted to have him do the painting for my job.

Anyway, I am happy with all the choices I made throughout this renovation and with the work that Total Home Improvements did themselves or had done to make this reno happen.  It was complicated, removing walls and installing engineered beams, etc.  I worked at home throughout the whole reno, so I basically set up in one room.   My advice to anyone considering a renovation is to be very clear in what you want to have done and be very specific in your contract and understand the allowances, etc. in your contract and make adjustments if you need to. I marked mine up on a word document so I could be absolutely sure we were on the same page.  It took several revisions before we finalized the contract.   Also be realistic with your expectations and understand that there will be puts and takes along the way.  Material gets delayed; you make a change and things have to be redone.  Be patient and keep in constant contact with your project manager.  Understand that these people are human too.  The project manager may have a dozen jobs at any given time.

My tape measure broke the other day so I guess their work is done!  But if I have any other home improvements I have Total Home Improvements on my speed dial.  Seriously, it got frustrating at times - it was a 6 month major renovation after all.  But any frustration on my part was situational and the project manager was experiencing the same frustration.  Together we worked through any issues or decisions as they arose.

After the job was complete i'd say it was done pretty close to perfectly.  I have an old house and there's only so much you can do with an old house.  In my opinion Total Home Improvements did as much as could be done to maximize the footprint of my house, updating it from its 1970's look while maintaining the character of the home.

Thanks for reading my review.  I wish you luck in your home projects.

Hire this Contractor!! Excellent workmanship and attention to detail. Mike and crew were superb workers, tidy, punctual, and tenacious when it came to getting a difficult job completed. We are extremely pleased with the work. They replaced the main house roof shingles, repaired a carport that had some rotten rafters, sheathing, and facia, put on a really nice TPO sheathing designed for a low-pitched roof. All wood was wrapped, and gutters installed. The detailed processes for all work was phenomenal. Mike oversaw all details, as well as doing much of it himself. Mike's crew did excellent work even when Mike wasn't present, and they were extremely courteous and respectful, and took a lot of pride in their work. The place was left clean each day, all debris carried away, nails picked up, walkways, deck, driveway swept and blown off. It was such a pleasure to have a Contractor do precisely what they say they can, and even do it better than you expect.

It was excellent. The work was done in a timely manner. The gentlemen that came were very polite and very nice. Everything worked out really well. In fact, I am going to call them again for this year. They showed up when they said that they would and they got the job done quickly than they said that it would be done.

Fantastic! Mike was always punctual, informative and professional. His crew were fastidious and neat. Our yard was cleaner after they left than when they arrived every day! Mike was never pushy, always informative and very communicative. If I have a friend needing a roof or any other service that Atlantic provides, I will be "pushy" that they get a quote from Mike at Atlantic. Excellent value, best contractor experience we've ever had.

Overall, Jaws provides good service, with quick response and quality work. Their pricing is probably a little higher than you could get the local handyman to do the same work for, but they do provide a professional job that is insured.

He has done a lot of work for me. He is extremely honest but things have happened and he has had to come back and redo work. I still call him because he is trustworthy and will get things done right. He fixed a leak in one of my rentals that involved siding and I had many people do that repair before and he finally got it. He took off the siding and redid it. It had been a major problem for many years and he fixed it. He did that at a wonderful price and he did a great job. He also found another leak in my home that was a gutter repair. He subcontracted a job to an electrician and it was not good so Mike had to come back and fix it. I like dealing with him because he is very honest. I didn't get a written estimate for the water heater and when I saw the price I told him that I could get it cheaper at a local home improvement store so he matched it. He is not terribly great at pricing. He either under prices or overprices and will adjust it if needed. He is not sloppy and his quality is very good. If he does the work himself it is done well but sometimes he has to fix work that some of his workers do. He stands behind the work. He calls if he is not going to come. He is a little overstretched but he is such a good person that I will give him another chance.
