We were extremely impressed with Mike Yarkey and his team from the start. His estimate was very competitive, everything and everyone arrived on time, all of the workers were courteous, very respectful of our property and conscious of protecting the building and landscaping during the installation. There was never any question about the contract being fully executed, and they added some extra items as they determined a requirement during the work. This is a very professionally run organization that takes pride in their work and clearly pays attention to the details. Mike has a unique business model for a roofing company. I would highly recommend them and certainly encourage giving them a chance to bid on your job.

This company was outstanding. Called them Saturday morning at 9:30 AM and they were are my home at 1:15 PM to fix my Samson TV and I am in Poquoson, VA. Wayne was great to talk with over the phone on the problems and he was here shortly with the right parts. I have three HD TV's. Two years ago had a problem and the company that fixed it was in Newport News. Took two weeks to get them here. Wife contacted them three times during the past two weeks, no response, etc. And, the price charged for my repair by Affortable Mobile TV was far less than what I was charged by the local company. Do feel anyone experiencing any electronic problems, to call them. Feel strongly you will be most pleased.

Went straight to the site by removing front panel from bottom of washer and showed me how to open the catch, clean it and put it back so if it happens again I can do it myself. Costly for the 15 minutes he was there but the knowledge for next time was well worth it. He also advised on future service for other appliance issues. After initial inquiry for quotes he called within 15 minutes and came out right away, on the next business day. Prompt, courteous, and knowledgeable. Will absolutely rehire.

Great. David knows his stuff and he cares for his clients. He invested the necessary time with my wife and I to explain how Manna Capital and the financial tools it could wield within the Envision Process may strengthen my family's financial portfolio and retirement preparations. David's analysis and explanation of the Envision report for my financial portfolio was concise, thorough, and insightful which helped me better understand the state of health of my portfolio and how I might improve it. David and Sabrina always responded promptly and professionally to my e-mails and phone calls. He always made himself available to respond to my questions based on my schedule. For example, he invested over an hour with my wife and I on a phone call the Friday before a four-day 4th of July weekend to answer our questions related to an Envision report with updated financials. David and Sabrina operate a professional, knowledgeable, and client-focused financial advisory business.

Contacted company and requested an appointment for someone to come look at roof for roof repair. It took three calls before I could even get an appointment for an estimate. I will say the technician that came arrived right on time and was professional. However, it is almost three weeks later and I still do not have a quote. I have called twice but at this point would not move forward with this company regardless. My phone calls were never returned from start to finish. I realize companies have been slammed with the storms but I feel the lack of return phone calls or a quote is unprofessional.

After having a good experience with THI on my exterior work five years ago, I've always gone back to them to have other projects done. My experience with this company has been very positive.

The employees of THI are very courteous and professional.  They come on time and with a positive attitude.  The project managers that I worked with (I had the same person for two of my jobs and a different person for this latest huge remodel) were very knowledgeable of every aspect of the job.  They both did a good job scheduling all of the trades workers and keeping everything moving forward.  They both communicated very well with me and I always knew exactly who was coming, what they were coming to do, and when they would be there.  Did everything go exactly on schedule - well no.  I added several changes to the job, including gutting and redoing another bathroom at the last minute.  So we had to adjust time frames and expectations.  When we had a delay in the cabinet installation, due to my decision to rip out old plaster and replace with new drywall, Greg, the project manager worked swiftly and deliberately to catch us back up so we could finish as projected.

THI uses good sub contractors.  The floor, tile, electrical, and plumbing guys rocked.  They use small companies so there isn't a crew coming into your home.  The tile installer works alone.  The electrical company has two employees so the same two come every time and get to know your home electrical system well.  Same with the plumbers and floor installers.  I like that about THI.  Sure it isn't as fast sometimes as if a crew is sent in, but these trades people were truly professional, treating my house like their own.  I believe they did a better job than a bigger company would, and had more pride in their work.  To be honest, the owner of the dry wall company they used for my job was a bit rude, but Total Home Improvements quickly remedied that issue once I let them know.  All of the other sub-contractors were so very nice and professional and respectful.  I feel very fortunate to have met these fine craftsmen.

My experience with the sales representatives has also been very positive.  I used the same sales rep for two of my projects and he partnered with another sales rep on the major interior renovation they just finished.  They worked with me on the design and we made adjustments along the way.

I do not have any experience with the painters, however.  i have a painter that I have used for years (also works alone) so I opted to have him do the painting for my job.

Anyway, I am happy with all the choices I made throughout this renovation and with the work that Total Home Improvements did themselves or had done to make this reno happen.  It was complicated, removing walls and installing engineered beams, etc.  I worked at home throughout the whole reno, so I basically set up in one room.   My advice to anyone considering a renovation is to be very clear in what you want to have done and be very specific in your contract and understand the allowances, etc. in your contract and make adjustments if you need to. I marked mine up on a word document so I could be absolutely sure we were on the same page.  It took several revisions before we finalized the contract.   Also be realistic with your expectations and understand that there will be puts and takes along the way.  Material gets delayed; you make a change and things have to be redone.  Be patient and keep in constant contact with your project manager.  Understand that these people are human too.  The project manager may have a dozen jobs at any given time.

My tape measure broke the other day so I guess their work is done!  But if I have any other home improvements I have Total Home Improvements on my speed dial.  Seriously, it got frustrating at times - it was a 6 month major renovation after all.  But any frustration on my part was situational and the project manager was experiencing the same frustration.  Together we worked through any issues or decisions as they arose.

After the job was complete i'd say it was done pretty close to perfectly.  I have an old house and there's only so much you can do with an old house.  In my opinion Total Home Improvements did as much as could be done to maximize the footprint of my house, updating it from its 1970's look while maintaining the character of the home.

Thanks for reading my review.  I wish you luck in your home projects.

Mike showed up in one hour after my call due to a ceiling water spot in my kitchen. Based on the location, he checked the attic area first. After a thorough inspection, he determined it was a AC unit condensation pan leak, and went as far as testing with a small amount of water to confirm. He also took a picture to better explain the issue. Mike was extremely professional and appreciate the honesty. I will certainly call again for any roof issues.

I paid,  We agreed on a pick up time and from then on I heard nothing from them. Things were stacked up in front of my house to the anger of my neighbors and city government.
    Never again.
And I must say Angie;s list did nothing to help .   So much for the quality guarantee .

Very smoothly.  Tony targeted the specific area, setting the trap on the roof, right near the vent that had been compromised.  Once one squirrel had been caught, he set the vent up to determine if other squirrels were using the entrance, and once it was clear that they were not, the vent was covered permanently with hardware cloth.  He checked carefully for other entrance holes along the gutters, also. There was a minimum of disruption, and Tony knew exactly what he was doing.

Hire this Contractor!! Excellent workmanship and attention to detail. Mike and crew were superb workers, tidy, punctual, and tenacious when it came to getting a difficult job completed. We are extremely pleased with the work. They replaced the main house roof shingles, repaired a carport that had some rotten rafters, sheathing, and facia, put on a really nice TPO sheathing designed for a low-pitched roof. All wood was wrapped, and gutters installed. The detailed processes for all work was phenomenal. Mike oversaw all details, as well as doing much of it himself. Mike's crew did excellent work even when Mike wasn't present, and they were extremely courteous and respectful, and took a lot of pride in their work. The place was left clean each day, all debris carried away, nails picked up, walkways, deck, driveway swept and blown off. It was such a pleasure to have a Contractor do precisely what they say they can, and even do it better than you expect.
