Vailes Master Plumbing & Pump Service
Outstanding job! Parts were on-hand/in the company van so the job was completed fast. Also educated me on my new home's outside hose faucets and checked one out for me to ensure it was in good working order...really went above and beyond what most people would have done.

AMC911 Foundation & Waterproofing Repair Systems
We knew we had a problem with the support of our house when the floors were sagging and not level, and we began to see more cracks in our walls. Four foundation companies gave us estimates and we were most impressed with AMC911. They sent us Jeromy, who gave us the most comprehensive free estimate I've ever had from any company. He took time to draw things out, think about a solution and explain everything concisely in plain english. He was concerned also about not overcharging and making sure we were getting a good value for our money. Here's what we had done - two new long beams installed under our house for support of sagging floors, a second dehumidifier to handle high moisture levels, crawlspace cleaned of debris and insulation that was falling down and a new vapor barrier installed. We had flood vents installed because we live on a river and is prone to flooding. Their mason came and cut out new vents (done very well) and repaired cracks/replaced our window lintels. They also dug tunnels in our yard to redirect the water downspouts away from our foundation. It was a very big job and they handled it beautifully. The team that performed the work was led by Eduardo, and they were exceptional. They were friendly, polite, prompt, hard working and cleaned up well. They came at 8am and worked until 5pm every day until the job was done. Jeromy was also in contact with me throughout to make sure we were happy and our questions answered. We now have peace of mind that our water/moisture issues have been addressed. I love every day when I walk on my floors and feel how much sturdier they are!

I've used them for twenty years.  They are reliable.  They show up.  They treat me like I'm a member of the family.  When I get in the hospital I get cards from them.  When I get sick I get a card from them.  On my birthday I get cards from them.  They are clean.  They are professional looking.  I've had a relationship with them for years so what can I say.  They are an outstanding group of people.

    American Home Shield Home Warranty
Their pricing is pretty good. Quality is good. Responsiveness is good too. They get someone out right away. I’m not real sure what they could have done better. The plumber they sent out, he had to come out a couple of times. It was a pipe problem, is what it was. We had a leak in the shower and the caulking around one of the knobs. He wouldn’t do that because it wasn’t on his call. It had all been tied together and that kind of irritated me a little bit, but that is the second problem I ever had with them.

    Total Home Improvements
After having a good experience with THI on my exterior work five years ago, I've always gone back to them to have other projects done. My experience with this company has been very positive.

The employees of THI are very courteous and professional.  They come on time and with a positive attitude.  The project managers that I worked with (I had the same person for two of my jobs and a different person for this latest huge remodel) were very knowledgeable of every aspect of the job.  They both did a good job scheduling all of the trades workers and keeping everything moving forward.  They both communicated very well with me and I always knew exactly who was coming, what they were coming to do, and when they would be there.  Did everything go exactly on schedule - well no.  I added several changes to the job, including gutting and redoing another bathroom at the last minute.  So we had to adjust time frames and expectations.  When we had a delay in the cabinet installation, due to my decision to rip out old plaster and replace with new drywall, Greg, the project manager worked swiftly and deliberately to catch us back up so we could finish as projected.

THI uses good sub contractors.  The floor, tile, electrical, and plumbing guys rocked.  They use small companies so there isn't a crew coming into your home.  The tile installer works alone.  The electrical company has two employees so the same two come every time and get to know your home electrical system well.  Same with the plumbers and floor installers.  I like that about THI.  Sure it isn't as fast sometimes as if a crew is sent in, but these trades people were truly professional, treating my house like their own.  I believe they did a better job than a bigger company would, and had more pride in their work.  To be honest, the owner of the dry wall company they used for my job was a bit rude, but Total Home Improvements quickly remedied that issue once I let them know.  All of the other sub-contractors were so very nice and professional and respectful.  I feel very fortunate to have met these fine craftsmen.

My experience with the sales representatives has also been very positive.  I used the same sales rep for two of my projects and he partnered with another sales rep on the major interior renovation they just finished.  They worked with me on the design and we made adjustments along the way.

I do not have any experience with the painters, however.  i have a painter that I have used for years (also works alone) so I opted to have him do the painting for my job.

Anyway, I am happy with all the choices I made throughout this renovation and with the work that Total Home Improvements did themselves or had done to make this reno happen.  It was complicated, removing walls and installing engineered beams, etc.  I worked at home throughout the whole reno, so I basically set up in one room.   My advice to anyone considering a renovation is to be very clear in what you want to have done and be very specific in your contract and understand the allowances, etc. in your contract and make adjustments if you need to. I marked mine up on a word document so I could be absolutely sure we were on the same page.  It took several revisions before we finalized the contract.   Also be realistic with your expectations and understand that there will be puts and takes along the way.  Material gets delayed; you make a change and things have to be redone.  Be patient and keep in constant contact with your project manager.  Understand that these people are human too.  The project manager may have a dozen jobs at any given time.

My tape measure broke the other day so I guess their work is done!  But if I have any other home improvements I have Total Home Improvements on my speed dial.  Seriously, it got frustrating at times - it was a 6 month major renovation after all.  But any frustration on my part was situational and the project manager was experiencing the same frustration.  Together we worked through any issues or decisions as they arose.

After the job was complete i'd say it was done pretty close to perfectly.  I have an old house and there's only so much you can do with an old house.  In my opinion Total Home Improvements did as much as could be done to maximize the footprint of my house, updating it from its 1970's look while maintaining the character of the home.

Thanks for reading my review.  I wish you luck in your home projects.

    Claflin Plumbing & Gas Piping
My experience with Claflin Plumbers was outstanding from the initial phone call to the final handshake. This is a family run business from the mom who answers the phone and does the scheduling to the father and son who provide the service. They were extremely knowledgeable  about  my over 40 year old outside leaking faucet and replaced the "inners" quickly and efficiently.  They also suggested the other outside faucet should be replaced for a very nominal fee which I agreed with.  Polite, courteous, efficient-outstanding professionals!  I highly recommend them!

    Belletto Construction Inc
In early March we received an estimate to put in a large concrete driveway.  We chose Balletto because their estimate was prompt, reasonable, and included a detailed drawing of what the finished driveway would look like.  The estimate included excavation and the addition of a drainage pipe.  The drainage pipe ended up being a no-go because our gas line inconveniently is located right where the pipe would need to go.  They still charged for the drainage pipe even though it wasn't purchased or installed.
On June 18 we received a call, they'll start work on our driveway on the 20th.  We were so excited we left from vacation early to make sure we were there for the ground-breaking.  They never showed up.  We called and they said they'd start the job on June 23.  They arrived around 1:30 and told us they'd start the job tomorrow.  They didn't show up.  On June 29 they finally broke ground.
Last year was pretty rainy so they weren't able to pour the concrete for about a month, enough time for a significant amount of grass to grow on the excavated site.  They showed up to pour on July 22 and poured right over the grass.  I didn't realize at the time that concrete should never be poured over organic material, without a gravel base and/or wire mesh.  I don't know much about concrete , but my friends with concrete experience were pretty dumbfounded when I posted a picture online of the concrete being poured.  The phrase "I hope you have a warranty" was said more than a few times.
Anyway, it's been about 8 months since the job was finished.  There's a large low spot that puddles significantly, I'd need rain boots to keep my feet dry while walking through it, and it already has a crack running nearly the full width of the driveway.  With no wire mesh to keep the crack in-check, it's sure to grow wider with every freezing rain and eventually have grass running through it.  I emailed the company to see if anything can be done and didn't receive a response.  I really didn't expect to get one, but it's only fair to give them a chance.
We were left with the impression that our job was an inconvenience.  The workers were nice enough and worked hard when they finally did show up.
I've never written a bad review before and it is not a pleasant experience.  Pretty bummed about it.

Buds Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning
Bud's does good work and I would have loved to sign a service agreement with them. They are not very flexible when it comes to payment options for the agreement and seem to have a "Our way or the highway" attitude. Sorry we can't do business in the future.

    Total Home Improvements
The overall experience of this remodel effort exceeded our expectations from the professionalism, to the attention to detail, to the high quality finished product. Our sales associate took great pains to find out what our intentions were for a remodel before he wrote up a contract. He wasn't hesitant to point out types of things that might or might not work. Our one learning point was that before signing the contract, make sure both parties are absolutely sure what is and what is not included in the contract. But those differences were minor in the grand scheme of things. We were given generous allowances for tile, granite, and plumbing fixtures. Our sales associate made multiple trips with us to the suppliers to assist us with our selections. The best part of the experience was our project supervisor. He always showed up when he said he would be there and made sure that he was in constant contact with the sub contractors. He insisted on a clean work place. If there was any part of the job that we were unhappy with at the end of a day, he was on it to get it right early the next morning even if it meant bringing the sub contractor with him. He was always in close communication with us checking to see if the job was meeting our expectations. He gave us the heads up if we were coming to the date where we had to make a selection of a tile or mirror or shower doors or accessories. When we gave him a punch list, he started working on it that day and didn't stop until we were satisfied with the finished product. The bottom line is, we ended up with a total bathroom remodel and partial kitchen remodel that exceeded our expectations. The quality of work was outstanding and the finished job was beautiful. We went with Total Home Improvements because 2 of our neighbors had recommended them. In the end, the job came in within our budget and we are a very happy customer. I would highly recommend their services for anyone needing a high quality home improvement job.
