Concrete Repair reviews in Poquoson

    Belletto Construction Inc
In early March we received an estimate to put in a large concrete driveway.  We chose Balletto because their estimate was prompt, reasonable, and included a detailed drawing of what the finished driveway would look like.  The estimate included excavation and the addition of a drainage pipe.  The drainage pipe ended up being a no-go because our gas line inconveniently is located right where the pipe would need to go.  They still charged for the drainage pipe even though it wasn't purchased or installed.
On June 18 we received a call, they'll start work on our driveway on the 20th.  We were so excited we left from vacation early to make sure we were there for the ground-breaking.  They never showed up.  We called and they said they'd start the job on June 23.  They arrived around 1:30 and told us they'd start the job tomorrow.  They didn't show up.  On June 29 they finally broke ground.
Last year was pretty rainy so they weren't able to pour the concrete for about a month, enough time for a significant amount of grass to grow on the excavated site.  They showed up to pour on July 22 and poured right over the grass.  I didn't realize at the time that concrete should never be poured over organic material, without a gravel base and/or wire mesh.  I don't know much about concrete , but my friends with concrete experience were pretty dumbfounded when I posted a picture online of the concrete being poured.  The phrase "I hope you have a warranty" was said more than a few times.
Anyway, it's been about 8 months since the job was finished.  There's a large low spot that puddles significantly, I'd need rain boots to keep my feet dry while walking through it, and it already has a crack running nearly the full width of the driveway.  With no wire mesh to keep the crack in-check, it's sure to grow wider with every freezing rain and eventually have grass running through it.  I emailed the company to see if anything can be done and didn't receive a response.  I really didn't expect to get one, but it's only fair to give them a chance.
We were left with the impression that our job was an inconvenience.  The workers were nice enough and worked hard when they finally did show up.
I've never written a bad review before and it is not a pleasant experience.  Pretty bummed about it.

They were really good. They did a good clean-up. They finished pretty much on time. We get a lot of compliments on the driveway. So, we are very pleased with them. We probably would use them again in the future.

    Coastal Contracting
Coastal contracting was on the job every day until the job was complete.  This was important to me as I have had
other contractors begin a job, work a few days and not show for the next week. The I found out that they were going to start
other jobs in other places and drag out the finish date as long as possible.
Do get an estimated time for the job and firm price on completion.

    FRANKLIN'S CONSTRUCTION
It started out with a bang and ended with a, well it hasn't ended because the cleanup was never done and I still have rebar mesh, a wheelbarrow full of trash, and chunks of concrete in my driveway. They came out to do the estimate on a Saturday morning and once we agreed upon a price, began working right away. They worked really hard and completed 90% of the job within 3-4 days. The work was done fine and the workers were very pleasant and friendly. The garage floor looks great. But then no one ever came back to clean up the leftover chunks of concrete or to pick up the trash left lying around. It's been several weeks since the work was completed and we've called twice asking them to come and please get their wheelbarrow and to clean up the rest of their stuff so that has definitely changed what would have been an "A" grade to a "C" experience. Very frustrating and disappointing after the other reviewer specifically mentioned how they cleaned up after that job.

    PENINSULA CONTRACTING
I contacted Peninsula Contracting for an estimate and was told when I called the office that the gentleman I needed to speak to was out. I left a message and requested a callback. I called 2 additional times that week before finally getting a return call. We provided our info and was told that they would be out within a few days to have a look. My husband received a call several days later and was told the same thing (so they hadn't made it out there yet). Fast Forward 2 weeks later... I called again today and once again the estimate provider is out of the office (he works only 3 days per week and no one else does estimates)and the lady at the office says she'll leave a sticky note for him to call me back. So my experience thus far hasn't been very positive and we most definitely will not be using them to work on our home. If they can't call back or provide estimates in a timely fashion then I'm certainly not comfortable enough to trust them to perform the work.
