Window Replacement reviews in Palmyra

Window Depot USA of Richmond & Charlottesville
Very comprehensive initial consultation with salesman. Next came a visit with owner (Frank) and installer. They determined that certain modifications would be needed. Received follow-up estimate quickly, and an e-mail with expected delivery date of windows. That date was met, and then scheduled installation date was agreed upon and that date was met. Installers were very competent; installation went smoothly. Result was better than we had imagined it could be. Absolutely recommend this firm.

Stoney Creek Development & Construction LLC
A complete and utter nightmare!! Every single aspect of our bathroom renovation was substandard and unfinished. It was so poorly done that we had to hire reputable contractors to redo all Mr. Palumbos work. We employed a master electrician to rectify all wiring Mr. Palumbo did which was all out of code. We will have to hire another contractor to rip out all floor tiles and glass block window. I spent an entire week chipping out large chunks of grout in the shower. We were left with an unfinished bathroom and 2 cracked windows with the outside of the window frame being open to the elements. He and his workers disrespected our house in every way and left it in such a mess that we still cannot get all the residue from the work he did from our driveway, porch and garage. I have to repaint my front door because of the mess that was left behind. The contract was signed on March 28, 2017 with all processes being completed on or about 2 weeks later. Work was to begin the end of April. He showed up May 8, 2017 to begin the renovation. He and his assistants worked on and off through May and June. On June 30th he asked for more money and we reminded him we had already paid him 95% of the total price. On July 6th, I contacted Mr. Palumbo and asked when he would be returning and he stated in a text that he had started another job. We have not seen him since June 30th. In addition to not finishing the bathroom, he was supposed to have installed a beam and brace in the basement. This was not even started and of course already paid for. We were fools to have paid him so much in advance. We paid him for all materials by 5/12/2017 only for him to ask for more money. When I asked him why, he said he didn't have the funds which means he was spending our money on other projects. Mr. Palumbo told me he would have to change his name from Stoney Creek Development to LED Solutions Pro/LED Construction because the person before us was suing him and now they wouldnt be able to get to him. See review on Angies List dated 10/17/2017. I want to warn others of the absolute shoddy and dangerous work he does. He hires inexperienced workers off the street, brings them to the house, tells them what to do and then leaves. Many a morning was spent tearing things apart from the day before. The contractors that have come to help us repair and replace are aghast at his incompetent work and believe he needs to lose his license and be taken off the street. We are just sick about being scammed and just hope to save the next person from believing his lies. Please reference the reviews on Angies List, Home Advisor, Google and Houzz for similar stories. ELECTRICAL: The worst of all and most dangerous! ALL wiring was not grounded and there were hot wires exposed below the caps then tucked inside the walls. (We were told an inspection was not necessary for a bathroom reno.) STRUCTURAL: Walls were knocked down to create a walk in closet and walls built out to create a water closet. Everything he built was out of square which unfortunately we are going to have to live with. Just for the record, the walls that were off were the walls he built himself. The crown molding was incorrectly secured to the new cabinets. There were several attempts to make holes in the back of the new cabinets for plumbing. The barn door for the water closet was hung crooked. Ceiling below the bathroom was damaged when it was stepped on resulting in a crack that has to be repaired. There were no face plates put on the cabinets. Glass block installed in window area with uneven grout. Glass block window is bowed and sagging in the middle. The job was left with 2 cracked window blocks and the outside left open to the elements. Shower wall under the window also bowed. WALLS: Every seam was so poorly mudded. To compound the horrible job, Mr. Palumbo painted over it. There were gouges in the walls that were never filled in and grout chunks on the wall also painted over. There was gray paint all over the ceiling. The walk in closet was never painted. TILE WORK: Horrible!! The floor is so uneven that there are sharp points of the basket weave tiles sticking up so if you are barefoot it would be possible to cut your foot. When grouting the shower there were no drop cloths put down. When pieces of grout fell to the floor, it was stepped on and ground into the textured tiles. There was so much tile breakage we were sent to buy more. As it turned out, they were a different color and installed anyway. There is a tile under the toilet that popped up when the toilet was being tightened to the floor. No effort was made to fix it. Grout all over the walls from putting in the base board molding. No tile face place under the vanity. Granite vanity installed at an angle. No caulking on vanity. Different color tiles installed around window. Shower not caulked properly. 1st shower taken, there was water all over the floor. PLUMBING: Shower not functioning properly. When the shower mechanism was opened up we found a 3 function valve was installed instead of a 6 function valve. We found dried grout all over the inside mechanism. Toilet water supply line abuts the wall.

    TOP Quality Home Improvements LLC
It could not have gone better and there is really no other way to describe it. :) The work occurred while my family went out of state for Christmas for two weeks. I barely knew Tom Pollard but he was (and is) so genuine of a person that I had no problem giving him a key to my house so that the work could be done without my family (I have a 3 and 5 year old) getting in the way. I pulled Tom's information off of Angie's List (already top rated) and all he wants is an excellent review and he did whatever it took to make us happy... and he did! Hopefully that does not sound bad, he did want to make us happy but when you are running a business off of good reviews and referrals, businesses like TOP Quality Home Repairs will flourish! Tom did all the research and ordering of parts (except for the bathroom floor, commode, and vanity - personal preference type thing) and put me completely at ease saying that if it turns out that he could not do something that he said he could do... he would hire somebody that could out of his own pocket! Tom, of course, was able to do everything he said. :) You will not go wrong hiring TOP Quality Home Repairs.

    Decks By DeMers
Owner, Jason DeMers, met with us in the early spring of 2016 for an initial consultation on our sunroom project. We were impressed from the very beginning. Not only did Jason show up, but he was on time for our meeting. (This was a good sign!) After receiving a few estimates, we selected Decks by Demers for our project which proved to be an excellent decision. Jason was super, using his experience and expertise to advise us on everything from roof pitch to the placement of windows and doors and the best location for the spiral staircase. As promised, he was involved in every phase of the job, from the initial design to the final completion and clean-up. Most of the work was performed by a crew of only two men, John and Trenton. They were both highly skilled and extremely meticulous, methodical and very productive. They took a lot of pride in their work and I could tell they enjoyed what they did. With John as the Lead, they specialized in all areas of the building trade, from the footers to the roof. The craftsmanship and quality of work performed far exceeded our expectations!! The crew was polite, respectful, and always available to answer any questions we had. They were extremely enjoyable to have around! Decks by Demers is a small local contractor, but dont let the name fool you. They can do so much more than build a beautiful deck. We enjoy our sunroom everyday and greatly appreciate the quality of construction, fair price and hard work put into it and made possible by Jason DeMers and his talented crew! In an industry that is often known for bad workmanship, costly delays and unfulfilled contracts, we could not be more pleased with our experience using Decks by DeMers for our home remodeling and construction needs.

    Decks By DeMers
Jason DeMers is very professional and a specialist in installation and renovation of decks. He provided the product we wanted with expert installation in a timely manner. I had priced the job with other contractors and they were all in the same area however Jason's professionalism won him the contract.

    Mifflin Construction Co
The crew did an amazing job, very professional, punctual, knowlegable and didn't mind me asking questions. The job was done quickly, correctly and we now have the best looking house in the neighborhood! When they finished you couldn't find a scrap of siding or a nail in the yard, they cleaned it up and it was immaculate. I would highly recommend Mifflin Construction.

    Albemarle Siding & Windows LLC
Wow, really deserves an A+. We checked prices and ideas for installation as our house is cedar clapboard sided. We met with Bryant from Albemarle Siding & Windows and we were convinced that their windows and plan for installing them was the best. The last question was of course the price ! Bryant asked us what we wanted and what they offered . We were amazed at the price and asked when the work could be done and how long the custom size windows would take to make. We agreed to the price and the windows were in when they said and their "excellent" crew showed up on time worked like a well oiled machine in 95 degree heat and high humidity. The crew,(Wes,Richie,Alberto and Willie) were very considerate and kept extremely clean as they worked. They had all the work done in two days. They have worked together for years and it REALLY SHOWS !! When we change to vinyl siding in the future we will be calling on them again !!!! PS. THIS IS OUR FIRST EVER ANGIES LIST COMMENT.

    Kurt Lehnert Home Improvements
Fireplace project - was completed promptly, on budget and looked great.
Bathroom - had a short delay starting the project as he was finishing up work on another project. Timeline given at start was accurate (3 weeks). Kurt mocked up a shower bench in two locations and then helped us come up with an alternate solution (foot niche for shaving) when we didn't like the bench placements. He was flexible and worked with us to set meeting times early morning or evenings, so we didn't have to miss work. He asked questions in advance (location of outlets, thermostats, lights, tile pattern) so that he could proceed smoothly. He cleaned up each day so that we were able to continue using the bedroom while work was in progress. We had ordered Italian tile online for the shower and it had the curvature that can happen with large format tiles. When he installed the initial 3 rows in the brick pattern we had requested, there was visible lippage. He took it all down and re-hung it in alternate pattern and was able to achieve a smooth look even though the tiles were warped. We had a light leakage under one of the sinks and he came back immediately and resolved that. Other than that, the project went flawlessly. It was without any drama. He did everything we requested - including using vintage door pulls. We are very happy with the new bathroom.

    PELLA WINDOW STORE
I would never use Pella again.  They are completely incompetent. We purchased all of our doors and windows from Pella for our new construction. The products are good, but the service was terrible. Pella totally screwed up the order and still have not rectified - a year later. They gave us doors that swung the wrong way on several of our doors. It took us a year to get the correct front door, after Pella sent the wrong door 3 times.  One of the service technicians came out and cut off the weather stripping, instead of replacing it. We are still trying to get someone out to replace the weather stripping and some brass hardware that is supposed to be brushed nickel.

    Young & Rannigan
You can't find anyone better to work on you home. Brian Young is the owner and he is the only one we will allow to do any work in our home. He is a perfectionist. If he is not happy with what was done by one of his guys, it is ripped out and redone. His estimates are right on the money. He is aces to work with. He is every bit a gentleman when he is in your home. He gives you total respect. He is the only one I call for anything. The kitchen window he replaced is drop-dead gorgeous. When he does something, you can't tell that it is an addition or replacement. It is just like a smooth transition. He will hire only if they are expert at what they do. His price is fair.
