    Mannix Heating & Cooling
I chose Mannix over few other contractors because my sister who replaced the HVAC including water heater two years ago told me how the Mannix did excellent job on her house. They didnt disappointment me. I was in emergency situation on the day of work which I could not stay home all day to communicate with the crew but final outcome of the work is excellent. I got a very reasonable quote and the whole crews were polite and the customer services also were very nice. I didnt instruct them to fix the cold basement which I didnt know it was a problem is now warm and comfortable. I had a miscommunication on one issue but they came and resolved it more than I expected.

AMAZING!! This is the ONLY company you should call when you need an HVAC rebuild or even maintenance. They are more than technicians and installers....they are thermodynamic engineers. They sweat every detail to ensure your property is COMPLETELY protected against anything that can go wrong and they deliver only the system you really need. INTEGRITY --- it's hard to find these days, they have it and live it. Your contractor cut every corner and they fix them with no extra charge, ceremony or lecture. They were punctual, polite and professional every step of the way --- actually actively DISCOURAGED options that would have cost more in favor of what was actually needed. When they show you where your previous builder/contractor did things wrong ... it is without the disparaging lecture and instead a positive path forward. Once in a while you find the "real deal" --- it's worth the premium because they deliver. Already handed out 20 cards to family and friends.

    Snell Heating & Air Conditioning
The result was marvelous! We definitely have top of the line, high quality system now with lots of smart features. The cooling and heating happens almost instantaneously, you can control the temperature from your phone, and we no longer have any issues with some rooms being too cold or too hot. Snell team has been professional and responsive. They did the installation in one day - we had probably 14 people in the house at one point! When they were done, the house looked like nothing happened, and yet we felt the change in our quality of life go up right away! We had them come back for minor adjustments and filter changes, and every time, they are prompt, courteous and helpful. I don't think I have one bad thing to say about Snell!

    All-Star Appliance Service Inc
If I could give give zero stars I would. Our AC went out two weeks ago so we contacted our home Warrenty company and All Star was assigned the job. They told us to make sure the unit was off for a day so any ice could melt. We were late coming home that day so we turned the unit off 17 hours prior to the appointment. Alex showed up the next day (Friday) and did his best to trouble shoot the problem except there was ice still encasing the unit. He shut off the unit at the breaker (funny because I turned it off at the thermostat), and asked me to send a photo once the ice had cleared. sent the photo as requested and then called on Monday. They said they received the photo and they would start the claim process. On Wednesday checked and no claim. Someone would call me. On Thursday, spoke to the owner, John, who was confused why this repair job was sitting idle, but said the next day he would personally come out and figure out the problem. Said he would call later that day with a time. John never called back. Called the next morning only to be told John was not coming out and they had cancelled our job sending it back to the warrenty company. They told the warrenty company were were difficult because there was ice on the unit and we did not turn it off as instructed. We lost a week in hot weather. Claim was reassigned. Took the new technician an hour to determine that a bad capacitor was preventing the switch from turning off the unit and that there was a leak in the coil. We had turned off the unit as we were told to do. The capacitor prevented the unit from stopping. All Star did not take the time to diagnose the problem and then did not come back out when they promised to do so. We have not had AC for a over a week and we have a 76 year old woman living with us and it is 98 degrees in the house. John still will not return my calls to explain why they would not come back out as promised so I have no choice but to try and warn others about their horrible business.

    Wittman Mechanical Contractors Inc
Ever since Wittman installed our Carrier heat pump 14 months ago, it has been a problem. The heat pump did not work for more than a month in the winter because Wittman wired the system incorrectly on installation, according to the Wittman repairman who finally identified the problem. This took several visits to identify and resolve, all the while on expensive emergency electric heat during the winter. When we tried to turn on the AC in the summer, the AC did not work because the circuit board was blown. The part took a while to come in and Wittman failed to show up for the original service appointment. When the repair man finally came to replace the circuit board, he theorized that the circuit board was damaged when Wittman was trying to rewire the unit a few months prior. Not even one week later and the AC is now over-cooling the house. It is set at 76, cooling the house to 68. The unit is wet on the inside and completely soaks the air filter in less than a this new system is AGAIN malfunctioning. Every time Wittman has been here to fix something, another problem appears shortly thereafter. Im no expert, but so far, the fault seems to lie with the installation and repair rather than the heat pump itself. $10,000 is a lot of money to spend on a new HVAC system when we heated our house with electric heat and a wood fireplace and cooled it with window fans for more than a quarter of this year. Hopefully, Wittman will make this right and ensure our new HVAC system actually runs.

    John Nugent & Sons Inc
During a very cold couple of weeks we cracked a pipe which resulted in some other heating issues. We needed to replace our very old furnace. Nugent and Sons genuinely cared about our ability to stay warm and did everything they could to get our system up and running again. I would hire them again.

On January 26, 2018, one of this company's trucks (white truck with Maryland tag ending in 4685) ran a completely red light in Reston, forcing me to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting him. As I honked my horn (while he was running the red light), he flipped me off. Totally unprofessional. Would never hire a company who employs people like this.

    SCS Heating & Air Conditioning
Guys did an excellent job. Were on time. Finished the work quickly and cleaned up the place after their work. The only issue I have is that the offer stated that the water heater had a 10 year warranty, but the installed heater only shows 6 years. There is a discrepancy between what was stated in the offer and what got installed. Luckily we enquired in advance, and it wasnt a complete surprise.

    SSI Services Specialties Inc
This is a followup to my earlier review thats pasted below as Angieslist doesn't let me edit previous review: Mr. Todd from SSI called and offered an amicable resolution. He offered discounted install of steam humidifier and extended warranty options. I agreed to pay an additional $ 2700 ($ 13,500 paid earlier), which I thought was fair and I never intended to take advantage of them. The followup visit is scheduled for Dec 7th 2017 to correct the issues. Thanks SSI for efforts to correct it and changing my rating to A. Trustworthy company. Earlier Review: "Installation went fine and I consider the crew professional and I paid cash upfront. Chris who gave quote was excellent. On the day of installation, we noticed that there was a Whistle sound coming. Technician Brandon added a return air vent at the duct work in 1 st level of home. The noice still persisted. We had a call from lead technician Chris who noticed the sound and suggested some modifications. The crew came back and made few changes. The noice still persisted. Another senior tech came after two calls and said the noice was not normal. He made few suggestions and they were not implemented. I called and setup a summer inspection few months ago and another tech came and said the only option would be to upgrade the humidifier with another $1400 (aprilair) and indicated the price is after prorating the amount that I paid for earlier humidifier. He shut down my current humidifier to prevent that sound. He mentioned that I have to do it before the one year window. I called 2 weeks earlier and left voice mails for sales manager and have not heard back. I spoke with trane and they say that if a trane humidifier is properly installed it should not make such sounds. I had high regard for the company but ignoring my calls is what made me post this review. Hope they can set this right,"
