D - Be your own judge but this is how we felt about our interaction with Jeremy. I expect a strong refute to this since that is what we got in his email. I called the company to schedule an appointment and was told someone would contact us. I called again the next day since I had not heard and spoke to Jeremy who said he had called but there was no message on our machine. We scheduled an appointment time and he called requesting if he could arrive significantly early and we said yes. After a brief greeting at the door he came in and immediately set his stuff up on our kitchen counter. We said the table would be better but he did not want to change so my wife and I had to bring in chairs to the kitchen since the presentation was long. Our question were answered after the initial Ill cover that in a minute. We then walked the house and determine what devices would be best in each location. Some of his recommendations were different than other companies and he said the others would not work in those locations. He then determined the costs. From the time he entered our house we felt like he presented a high pressure sales pitch which turned us off. He did not however demand a signing of a contract. Since we assumed his contract would require us to provide a lot of personal/financial information we requested a copy of a blank contract so we could review it prior to providing our information. This is when everything went wrong. He said he simple could/would not do that and despite a lengthy discussion he simply refused. It made us think that maybe something was not right or he was hiding something. He said that we must give him all our information and fill in the contact before he would send it to us which defeat the purpose of trying to protect our information until we were sure we could sign his contract. Once he had all our information he said that we did not have to sign it but he just would not understand our request for privacy prior to our accepting his standard contract. We felt that we could not move forward with this company especially since there are a lot more equally qualified. Your experience may be different so, good luck.

Phil set up an existing Honeywell alarm for monitoring by Vintage. He was very professional and did an outstanding job making sure everything was working. Even though they did not install the alarm he took the extra effort to reprogram two alarm sensors and ensure everything was monitored correctly. I would definitely recommend the company.

    Splaine Security Systems Inc

My plan was to get estimates from three firms, so I picked the firms from Angie's List and Washington Consumer's Checkbook with the highest ratings.  One of those firms was Splaine.   Our existing Alarm was supported and monitored by Vector, so we had planned to have them come as well to give us a quote, but they never even responded!

The Salesperson, John, arrived on time.  We walked through the house, and I explained the situation to him.  I was a bit nervous about the possibility of using wireless sensors, as I had heard these are not as reliable as hard-wired sensors, and reliability is very important to me.  One of the first things John showed me was that our new windows open from BOTH the top AND the bottom.  Our old windows opened only from the bottom.  Had John not pointed this out, someone could have easily defeated any alarm I would have installed by opening the top of the window instead of the bottom.  My wife and I were pretty embarrassed we didn't realize this ourselves and am very glad John pointed this out.

John also told me that they could reuse my existing heat/temperature sensors, as these generally do not fail.  This saved me money.  He also thoroughly explained how the wireless sensors are monitored by the system, focusing on the concerns I expressed to him.  He told me the new features and capabilities of the latest alarm systems - quite a bit of new capabilities have been added over the past 20 years!  As it turns out, Splaine sold and serviced the same brand of equipment that was in my old alarm system (Napco).  I was impressed with the equipment from my old alarm system, which gave me added confidence in their product offering.

There was NO sales pressure whatsoever.  There was no pressure to "sign today".  He wrote everything down in detail on his quote, with prices.  This is a family owned and run firm.  He also left a number of brochures that were informative.

After discussing with the wife (who wasn't home when he came, unfortunately) we actually felt so comfortable and impressed with his presentation that we decided not to bother getting estimates from any other firms.  So the next day, I called John up and told him to sign us up.  We put 33% down, and scheduled a date for the install.

Two gentlemen from Splaine came on the appointed date and time.  Very professional, and respectful of the home (i.e., they took their shoes off when coming inside, etc.).  Took about six hours to remove most of the old system, install and set up the new one.  Then, the sales person John came back and demonstrated the new system to us.  I think it's great that the sales person comes back to review the work - it's a great way to "close the loop" - some firms make the big sale, then you never see the sales person again - that was not the case with Splaine.

We've now been living with our new system for almost a month, and we are very happy with it.  It was a good experience.  I would highly recommend Splaine!

After researching a lot for best security system for my home, I turned to angies list to find the best one. After seeing more than 2000 A reviews, I thought to give them a try and tried to purchase angies list deal.
Security system was mailed promptly and they called me to go over the installation procedure which can be done fairly easily.
Once done, they tested the system and answered all the questions I had.
I feel safe that Front point security is monitoring my home.

Excellent sales service by Billy. He was very professional in his explanation of all the components needed for my home security system and was extremely patient in answering my many questions. Chris was the installation technician and was excellent. He provided a professional and thorough installation and orientation of the system. Wonderful customer service.

I compared four other home alarm security companies on Angie's list, but none of them could compete with the equipment package and price that 1st Security LLC provided. I'm very happy with my security system and have already recommended this company to my neighbors and a family member.

The system was supposed to be registered through the police departments and they had not set that up which ended up causing some trouble. The people who came out to install the system were very professional. But the problems were very nerve-wracking. I probably would not have gone with them had I known this was going to occur.

I had a great experience.  They made it very easy and it was delivered quickly. It was a self install and we didn’t have any problems with that. They have been available whenever we have called. Everything functions properly.

    ADT Security Services, Inc
When we bought the system, we were told that after the initial monitoring contract expired they would keep us at the same rate and that the rates for existing customers would not go up. When it expired, we checked with other monitoring companies to get estimates and were told that ADT was now using proprietary equipment, which meant we could only use ADT for monitoring. ADT's monitoring rates went up in the ensuing years, and there was little we could do. For this reason, I strongly recommend against using them.

    ASG Security
While we were under contract, the service was good. We paid using an automatic bank withdrawal with no problems. When an alarm was accidentally triggered, we were called immediately (within one minute). The only problem we had during our contract was an occasional low battery signal from our unit, which would trigger a call from the monitoring company; however, they could not figure out how to fix it, so it became a continual problem. We had issues with this company when our contract was about to expire. We were sent a letter with a new contract asking us to sign and return to "update their records". However, reading the fine print, it was actually a new 3-year agreement. We declined to sign the form, and instead canceled our service at the end of our contract period. When we asked for written confirmation or our termination, we were not provided one. Also, our account continued to be charged at the end of the agreement, despite a certified letter that indicated we were canceling and several follow-up phone calls. We got the county consumer affairs division to step in on our behalf to resolve the situation. To their credit, once the county got involved, ASG refunded the amount charged to us in error within one business day.
