    Taylor Made Paving
From the beginning of this project, Randy Stevens, the owner of Taylor made Paving, handled everything in a timely, professional and friendly manner. I couldn't be more pleased with his pricing and the extra efforts he made to get my driveway re-sealed and estimates for some additional work that I may need done in the future. I highly recommend Taylor Made Paving to Angie's List members and anyone else looking for a quality, trustworthy and reasonable paving company to work with. I will not hesitate to hire Taylor Made Paving in the future.

    Virginia Driveways and Patios
I and my neighbor signed with them on Wednesday and they completed the jobs in the heat on Friday. They did an excellent job on my driveway even adding a foot to it's width (hence the rating). They ask for no payment until you are happy with the job. They are professional with the customer and their work with the exception of keeping and leaving the worksite as clean as I would have liked. There are asphalt bits all over the place. (Hence the slight ding on professionalism.) My neighbor is less pleased than I am because he specifically asked for no seam in the asphalt but his request was somehow lost during the job. Since he is not satisfied he has not had to pay anything to date. The crew of six and two bosses worked hard in the heat and completed my driveway, excluding cleanup attempt, in about three and one-half hours. I am pleased with how it looks.

    Frontier Asphalt Services
If you need paving or sealant work on your driveway, avoid Metropolitan Paving, Maximum Paving and Frontier Asphalt Services, all in Leesburg, Virginia. All 3 of these related companies claim to be licensed; however all but Maximum Paving are unlicensed. The main things that these companies seem to have mastered are ignoring their customer, poor workmanship and figuring out how to avoid as much responsibility as possible while barely staying within the letter of the law. In April 2017 we signed a contract with Metropolitan Pavings representative Maxx Jones to add an additional layer of asphalt to our driveway. Their equipment broke down after one-half of the driveway was rolled out with mixture of large poorly mixed stones. The asphalt was not level and the distribution of stones is uneven. To make up for the lack of quality in the driveway, Maxx promised that after 6 months he would do 2 seal coatings on the driveway without charge and noted this on the contract. In October 2017, we began leaving voice mail messages for both Maxx and Phillip Jones (listed as the owner of the company) requesting scheduling of the first seal coat. After more than 15 unanswered messages, Phillip finally returned our call but claimed that Maxx (who, it turns out is his brother) was not associated with the company and that Metropolitan had no responsibilities for the promised work. He eventually contracted out one sealcoat even though he claimed he had no responsibility to do so. It took a complaint to the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) before the second coat finally got scheduled. According to Phillip Jones, he subcontracted the 2nd sealcoat to Frontier Paving, with Maxx Jones representing that company. When the work was eventually done, Maxx was not present and the work made the driveway even worse. It now has a rough surface, footprints in the sealcoat and is four different colored bands of asphalt. When I called to complain, Luke Jones (the owner of Frontier and apparently another relative) claimed Maxx was not associated with the company despite Maxx returning at least three previous messages left with Frontier. Despite the poor quality (which DPOR does not regulate), Phillip has declared that because work was done his responsibilities under the agreement negotiated through DPOR are complete. Its been more than a month with no further responses from Metropolitan or Frontier.

Probably the best review is if someone tried your service once and then uses it again. Falls Church Paving did two jobs for me. The first job was resurfacing a driveway and resolving a run-off problem. That went very well. The second job, at another property, was adding a parking pad off an existing driveway. I was concerned that it would look added on. Not only did it look as if it had been designed that way originally but the entrance was far more gracious than it was originally. Falls Church Paving came when they said they would, they did what they promised, and the price was very fair. J. Rhodes

    H&H Paving Asphalt Specialist, Inc.
Everything was great. The sales guy (Rob) was very nice and low key. He met with me and provided the estimate, background info on the company, and lots of local references (every job within a couple of miles, not just select ones). The references were street addresses organized by year, dating back 9 years. So, I could easily tour around and see jobs that were done at different times to see how they're aging. All looked great. The site supervisor was also great --- Todd was our project's lead. He brought a large team (all H&H employees) and they worked quickly, which is important working with asphalt in cooler temperatures. Todd was careful to thoroughly answer any questions I had. They peeled off all of the old asphalt to examine the existing base. Given that the base looked really solid, they recommended not to add stone and instead go with a thicker application of asphalt --- which, by the way, costs the company more than the stone. They only took about 3 hours start-to-finish. The resulting driveway looks fantastic. The edges that they shape make the project look very nice. They're also careful not to leave a mess around the work site (garage, grass, lip of driveway, street). Everything looked really good immediately afterwards, despite asphalt being a messy business. Highly recommend H&H.

    Northern Virginia asphalt
I called Northern Virginia Asphalt for an estimate. The man I talked to was very responsive and flexible. The evening of the estimate, I expected someone from NOVA Asphalt; however, someone from Pave Masters Inc showed up and quoted me $3000. I looked Pave Masters up here on Angie's List and they have a D rating and a 1 out of 5 on Yelp. I'm not sure if NOVA Asphalt subcontracts work or what. Can't comment on the quality of work of Northern Virginia Asphalt, although be cautious if you arrange an estimate and someone from Pave Masters shows up.

    Collegiate Sealers & Paving
They came when they said they would and did the job quickly and neatly. They filled the cracks and thought they were all small enough to be filled. There are a couple that were a little larger and don't look filled.

Excellent work -- very professional, showed up on time with a complete crew & impressive equipment, completed the work on time (1/2 day), did an excellent job, cleaned up thoroughly afterwards, and were very careful of adjacent plantings and structures. All I had hoped for.

    Northern Virginia asphalt
Jonathan and his team were fantastic, and best price. Job very professionally done with high quality, long-term materials. Jonathan's team put down top soil I purchased to cover areas that needed grass reseeding. Team didn't leave until I was completely satisfied. Completed job within two weeks of signing contract. Jonathan visited and gave me estimate within one day of calling. All of my neighbors who share pipe stem were also very satisfied, especially the tie-in to their driveways.

    J Donohue Asphalt Paving
When the work was complete, it seemed fine. I started seeing minor cracks after they left, but over time, they started getting worse. The cracks are only on the edges, probably due to improper tamping them down. The rest of the driveway still looks good. I have contacted him multiple times, starting June 7, 2016 and four separate times I was told it was "an easy fix," and that he would be out in the next few weeks but he has not shown. I spoke with a different independent company who said that the "easy fix" was not a viable solution.
I received a 2 year warranty, and so far, Mr Donohue has failed to honor that warranty.
