    Gurney, Dr. Robert W.
The provider was at first able to diagnose and prescribe a few things to my son, but by the fourth appointment nothing was working for him. Doctor robert, then brought a form to my attention and told me that I needed to sign it to give my son Acutane. When I asked why he told me that "Some stupid congressman's son committed suicide on this treatment, so now we have to make people sign this form". When I responded, and let him know that he shouldn't talk like that in front of my son, he became very confrontational, and tried to persuade me to just sign the form. I wont go into detail about how things went from there, but there is no way I will ever bring my son to this doctor again. Needless to say, I got a second opinion on this medication, and it turns out that it was not even necessary in this case. I'm glad I stuck to my gut feeling and walked away from this doctor when I did.

    Braun Dermatology Associates
I went there for Moe's surgery. Had a chunk removed from my upper shoulder after receiving a confirmation biopsy of a skin cancer. Dr. Martin Allen Braun did the procedure. There are five of them there. A family business. Focus on the word, business.
After the procedure I asked for a few prescription strength pain pills. I did not ask for a 30 day supply.  A few would have been fine. Just to get over the first few days of pain and swelling because I had to return to work immediately. Was offered only something with Codine, which I do not respond well to. I told him that repeatedly. I asked for a few Vicodin(strength to be determined by the doctor) and had a horrible long drawn out argument with the Dr. Martin Allen Braun. After a ten minutes argument he finally wrote a script for five pills(plenty for what I needed) and handed it to me in protest. I was so disgusted I told him "we are done here" and I left the prescription with him when I exited the procedure room.
In the end it turns out he was more concerned with his liability for prescribing a drug that I know to be effective, than in controlling my pain immediately following surgery. We are talking 5 pills here. He brought up his liability several times in our conversation.
I was asked to come back for a follow up in two weeks. I will not be returning to that business. My family physician will prescribe something for my gaping wound and I will get a referral to a physician who cares more about his patients than his perceived liability for prescribing a few pain med pills that will improve the life of his patients.
    Unbelievable.

    Clinical Skin Center Northern
The office staff is friendly and polite. High marks for them. Our appointments were usually on time which was a pleasant surprise for a doctor's office! It seems as though appointments are available only thru 2 or 2:30pm, which is tough if you don't want your kids to miss school. We first saw Morgan Klein, the physician assistant, for my son's molloscum. She was so friendly and patient when explaining our treatment options. She was gentle and great to work with. All of our interactions with Morgan were positive. I feel our interactions with Dr. Stashower and Dr. Tieu were not as positive. Dr. Stashower seemed a little awkward with a teenage girl with acne. His treatment was mainstream (antibiotics and Differin). On my child's 3rd visit, her acne was flaring up. His comments to her were a bit insensitive and he recommended birth control pills or Accutane on the 3rd visit. I felt those options -especially Accutane -were a bit extreme given there are other products or antibiotics she hasn't tried yet. So then we switched to Dr. Tieu because my daughter thought she would be more comfortable with a woman doctor. This appointment seemed like a drive-thru appointment. Dr. Tieu was so quick and out the door. I thought she should have asked for more background info. She didn't change any meds.

    Sebastien, Dr. Theodore S.
I needed a dermatologist in a pinch and unfortunately did not check the
reviews until I was in the waiting room: mistake! Per the previous
anecdotes of how RUDE and RUSHED Theodore Sebastian is, I concur with
all of the existing statements capturing his poor bedside manner and
general brazen inconsideration. I regret I cannot give him the title of
Dr. as this should be reserved for only those who practice medicine
with at least a small ounce of compassion for their patients. I had
three questions for Theodore which I stated at the initiation of the
    appointment.
After he addressed the first issue, he was headed
out the door when I reminded him I had two remaining questions. After
he addressed the second issue (somewhat annoyed that I had stopped him),
I reminded him that I had a third question- he grabbed a brochure and
said, I'll meet you out in the front with a prescription. Perhaps,
Theodore, I do not want to discuss a sensitive medical question with
    your full waiting room.
Per my clock, my entire appointment was
under five minutes. I have another pr-existing appointment with a
dermatologist who could not see me until later this week, and
unfortunately I will have to pay another $30 copay to get my questions
    answered.

    Syed Amiry DO
IS DR. AMIRY CARING FOR YOU OR YOUR WALLET?
I have had two appointments with Dr. Amiry and I empathize with
other reviews I have read that he is not a medical professional but
rather a salesperson. I initially had a very positive visit and found
his staff - both the genuinely happy receptionist, billing officer and
nurses (especially Maria) to be kind and engaging.
My read on Dr. Amiry from my first visit was fine - albeit a bit rushed. The
second visit (a week later) I had a little more time to assess his
qualifications and personality. Medically he appears knowledgeable,
however I left the appointment disgusted at how he treated me. First,
he seemed defensive when I queried the price of mole removals as opposed
to just scheduling without asking questions. Second,
it was very clear that he was 'on the clock' during the appointment.
If you have multiple questions for Dr. Amiry, then prepare to be:
    a. rushed
    b. patronized
    c. walked out on
He even made it a point to say to the nurse, 'Oh, looks like she has TWO
questions! Not just ONE!and quot; And before he left the appointment he
repeated this insulting narrative, and quot; She's got FOUR questions!and quot; as he
    headed out the door.
Upon arriving home, I called the nurse and explained I would not be coming back.

    Nandedkar-Thomas, Dr. Maithily A.
Dr, Nandedkar was wonderful for seeing me right away even though I was not a patient of hers. Her staff was very friendly. Her office is impeccably clean, beautifully designed and patient friendly. She spoke very rapidly and told me to let the wound heal
and then we'd take a look at it. I was very nervous and she seemed irritated by my need for clarification.
Fortunately, I had set up yet another second opinion with a second dermatologist whose
specialty is skin cancer. It turned out the skin was infected and had to be treated.
Based on the reviews I had read about Nandekar, she seems to do mostly acne cases. Still, she was attentive. And, after
I decided to go with the other dermatologist, she and her office were prompt in getting me my medical records.

    Gurney, Dr. Robert W.
He is a jovial , old school kind of guy and do my 90 year old mother related to him well.  He took a look at her and pointed out what
was pre-cancerous and before she could answer his question as to whether or not she'd let him freeze off one of them, it was done.
No harm done.  I however, would not have appreciated that kind of impulsive action without my first exploring options, etc.  Different strokes for different folks.
What I like about Dr. Gurney is that he is not an alarmist. His  philosophy seems to be why tamper unless necessary, especially
    if you can watch it.
His office is a bit old and worn; you can tell his practice has been there for a long time.
In sum, except for when I brought my mother, I have only had second consultations with DR. Gurney.  I haven't had any
    procedure performed by him.

    Gurney, Dr. Robert W.
Here's what I really love about his practice:
    - Several days a week, he is open at 7am so you can get your appointment out of the way on your way to work
    - He takes all the time you need to explain things OR   He's able to get you in and out as quickly as needed
    - He was able to diagnose issues and prescribe remedies where other derms were not able to solve the problem
    - Every now and then when I forget to come in before the meds are out, they will fit me in same day
    - He sees me every 90 days to check on efficacy and side effects, and bloodwork is checked each year as well
    - It's very, very rare that he cannot see you right away if you need to be seen
    - He has a gentle touch with removals - always completed quickly and with minimal discomfort
    - I have NEVER had an insurance claim fail to process to completion in a timely and accurate manner
I'd give Dr. Gurney and his office highest marks for efficiency, treatment effectiveness, and claims accuracy.
    Highly recommended!

    Nandedkar-Thomas, Dr. Maithily A.
The office is designed to have a calming affect. The entire staff was friendly and professional. The doctor was thorough, friendly, answered all my questions and was as gentle as possible with my 3 biopsies. I was impressed with her and her staff and will definately return in the future.

    Gurney, Dr. Robert W.
I called first thing in the morning after getting a referral from another dermatologist who couldn't see me right away.  The receptionist said they had openings that morning and to come in right away.  After filling out a minimal amount of new patient paperwork, the doctor saw me within 10 minutes.  He quickly diagnosed my rash as eczema after examining it and asking me questions and prescribed a cream that he said would clear it up fairly quickly.
