    TOP Quality Home Improvements LLC
It went very smoothly, there were a couple of miscommunications along the way, so in the future I would make sure to clarify and specify all of my desires in a more detailed manner. However, any confusions were cleared up with very gracious and helpful responses and all of my desires were met. I am very pleased with the final product! Thank you Tom Pollard and crew!

    Phoenix Home Services Inc
Phoenix was recommended to me by a co-worker. I needed a new driveway and front walkway. Clint came out, discussed options and had a plan and quote to me w/in 3-days. They were very accommodating about working w/a hectic schedule. Once the install day came the crew arrived and went right to work. Very professional, efficient and clean. I had my new driveway and walkway w/in 3 days and what a difference to the curb appeal to my home - beautiful!! My neighbors watched with a scrutinizing eye and are now ready to use Phoenix as well!! Highly recommend them and will be using them again myself.

They were very efficient. Their work was very well done, and they left our basement clean. Oh, and it's been three years and the basement is completely dry.

The whole process went very well. They returned my call immediately and had the appropriate people come out to view the house and discuss the project and their recommendations. A day later we received an estimate/proposal by email, which they followed up on by phone as I received other bids. Once the job was awarded to them, they started within 48 hours and put in full days starting each day at 7am promptly and wrapped up the job within 7 days. The workman were very courteous and went above and beyond by tending to the little things (like patching siding that was missing from the footprint of the previous deck. The skim coating also went well in that they repaired areas that I didn't point out, but were in need of repair. They also did a great job cleaning up.

When I initially contacted the company they promised to come out and look over the job.  They showed up on the date and time promised and provided an estimate within one week.  The contractor was always available to answer questions and make changes.  They started the project on time and worked long hours to get the job done.  They were very flexible when something set the schedule back (removing trees not originally scheduled for removal, weather, design changes) and the contractor always returned phone calls and email. Instead of choosing materials all at the start of the project, he recommended as we got closer to the area being finished that I decide what tiles, stain, carpeting, etc. and it worked great because as things were completed my original idea sometimes didn't work as well as I thought it would.  The finished product was, and is, very pleasing.  The contractor hauled any and all of the debris and excess materials as they progressed, keeping the property looking neat throughout the project build.  When the build and remodel was completed, the contractor cleaned everything to include ensuring all the grouting was neat and tidy, deck was washed of dust and debris and the sunroom was vacuumed and dusted of all wood dust.  The final walk thru of the completed project was professional and any items not finished to my satisfaction were redone.  Over-all it was pleasant and rewarding remodeling.

From my perspective, everything went according to plan.  During the project, Eric had to substitute one part of the materials when the delivery of a product was not of the quality he was expecting (entire order of stone).  This resulted in some redesigning/replanning.  Everything was discussed with me and explained.  The alternative that was designed and installed was just as great as the original.  I much appreciated Eric's attention to detail on the stone.  Due to the location for that particular product, the defects would have been visible.  One other point on the materials.  The concrete steps used came in at a lower price than originally estimated due to the factory lowering its price.  Eric made me aware of the lower price and adjusted the final costs accordingly.   I found his workers courteous and hard working.  Communication from Eric as the job progressed was outstanding.  As you would expect of a job this size, there were changes/adjustments that had to be made.  Each were discussed with me (and I with Eric) explaining the why and how.  For a job this large and complex, there were so many things that could have gone wrong; nothing did. I mentioned the price adjustments for the steps above.   At the end of the job, Eric did a careful accounting of all costs and compared them (line by line) to the original estimate explaining all the differences (both direction).  I was in complete agreement with his numbers and appreciated this attention to detail.  It made me feel very comfortable with the price of the project. I was also impressed by Eric's knowledge and expertise and how he utilizes them in the project.  In other words, he knows his stuff.   If by chance he doesn't know the answer to a question, he finds out.  He also has many local contacts he can suggest that know their stuff as well.  (I had questions unrelated to the project concerning grass seed and other things.) I do not hesitate to recommend Serenescapes to anyone.  This is a quality product and one I will enjoy for the life of the house.  I plan to use them again myself for other (smaller) projects as well.   One recommendation for anyone having this type work done, plan well in advance of when you want the project completed.  We started Fall 2015 with a desired completion of Spring 2016 to allow for the complexity of the project and the weather.  You can't and don't want to rush hardscaping.  If you have a known due date, be sure and communicate it.  I have no complaints with the work or the schedule and I'm ready to go this spring despite the abnormally wet fall.  Eric kept in contact to let me know when they couldn't work, why and when they would be back.  He monitors the weather constantly and plans according to the forecast.  I appreciated this communication.

    Albemarle Backhoe Service
Brad Jr. came out and assessed an issue with a leak in the dam at our pond. He returned the next day with waders and got down into the muck under the dock to try to find the leak. He discussed several scenarios and we planned for him to return with his backhoe for a minimum charge to further diagnose the issue. A complicating factor was that the dam is also part of our driveway. He and his father returned and worked quickly and efficiently to diagnose and repair the dam. When they left the driveway was as good as ever and the dam was solid. Throughout the process, Brad was very communicative and his price was more than fair. I very highly recommend Brad and his dad for any backhoe needs, as they are intelligent, knowledgeable, and very capable.

We asked him to give us a price on the first job, the front lawn, which needed either seeding or sod and a bit of landscaping work. He was SO convincing and knowledgeable that we decided to go with him. We were not disappointed. We talked with him about our driveway problem. The apron washed away in places and needed to be replaced. Again, he had excellent ideas, and we decided to go with them. He could not get to the driveway immediately but filled it in sufficiently for us to use in the meantime--at no extra charge. When the City of Charlottesville sent three inspectors who said three different things about what the city required, he dealt patiently but firmly with them (this is an election year, and he knew how to press his advantage). The job is now complete, and it is a pleasure to look at it. The apron is expertly done, the stone edging on the right side is flawless, and we have bright golden crushed stone on the driveway and mulch on the right edge. It looks very nice.

Mark Harris arrived promptly, provided a written estimate of work to be performed, and suggested several ideas and improvements to our plan. The work was performed exactly as planned, on time and on budget. Mark understood the special needs of our family for handicapped access and was able to suggest improvements to our plan, such as a 36" width to the walkway instead of 30", to accommodate a possible future need for wheelchair access. We couldn't be more pleased with his and his workmen's performance.
