Cottman Transmission and Total Auto Care
Not well at all. They misdiagnosed the problem costing me over $1200 in un needed "repairs". I even inquired what codes were showing and they provided a printout showing the charge air problem (and as I recall none for the transmission). I took the vehicle to BMW where they immediately diagnosed it as a failed turbocharger bearings. I would NEVER use this shop again and probably never use Cottman's for any service to my vehicles.

I took my 2001 Ford Cobra to the shop to have my transmission looked at.  I knew that some of the sychros were bad in the transmission and was told this was a good shop to go to.... What a mistake that was....   First, the shop told me they didn't even have the right tools to take apart the transmission and asked me if I had the tools.  Are you kidding me???  What kind of supposed professional shop doesn't have the right tools to take apart a transmission?  Transmission work is the only thing they do and not having the right tools is a joke.  Then the shop told me that I had a 6 speed transmission, the car was stock and came with a 5 speed .  Cobras never came with a 6 speed transmission til 2003.   I had to call their corporate office and complain about these idiots.  I had to pay the up front charge of taking out the transmission and having it diagnosed.  I refused to pay anything else.  I ended up buying a brand new performance transmission, having it towed to someone else to get install.  Avoid this shop like the plague.

I had the truck towed to the provider's location using the tow service they normally used as it would not move under its own power.  They started repairs right away and were complete within 3 days.  When I went to pick up the truck, they showed me the old parts and which parts caused the failure.  They also took the time to recommend additional future service and options for adding an oil cooler for extra durability.
About a week or so after I picked up the truck, I noticed that it was leaking transmission fluid from the pan.  I called County Transmissions to schedule a return visit.  They were able to start repairs the next day, and ended up replacing the pan (not normally replaced during the rebuild) at no additional charge.

Very courteous and professional staff. I learned they do more than just transmissions--general repairs as well.

It is an hour drive from my house to their shop, so I will not bring my new car back for oil changes, but I will be going back for major maintenance and repairs. They impressed me that much.

Automatic transmission lost 3rd and 4th gears.  Being from out of state, the first thing we did was check Angie's List.  Angie's List listed Suburban Transmission, but there were no reviews.  We asked around the area, and Suburban was reported to do good work, but was expensive.  We found our experience with Suburban to be exceptionally good, as they were very professional, explained the services they would provide and the price range, depending on condition of the transmission.  The price turned out to be $300.00 less than the top quoted price.  We compared the same job  where we live in Northern Virginia and found the price there would have been at least 20% more.  The job was completed ahead of schedule, we were kept in the loop, all questions that pertained to quality of materials to be used were answered, warranty was explained, help with obtaining towing was provided.  The place of business was clean and comfortable for my wife; the staff was friendly and knowledgeable.  The entire process was very professional, very reasonable priced, and I would not hesitate to highly recommend  Mike McRoberts, owner of Suburban Transmission.
