Mr. Handyman of Northern Virginia - Arlington to Haymarket
The technician was able to replace the mixing valve in the shower faucet but it took the entire two hours to do that; part of the time was examining the job and going to the hardware store to get the parts. After the valve was changed and the technician moved on to the shut off valves for the toilets he realized he did not get everything he needed to do the job. He said it was his fault because he did not inspect the current valve assembly close enough and needed to return to the hardware store to get the correct parts. He gave me the invoice for work performed; total invoice was $446.45. Labor was $294 for two hours and parts cost $152.45. Handyman charges $116.00 per hour of labor and bills parts at cost plus a markup of what I computed to be between 80% and 100%. I can't say for sure what the markup is but after pricing the parts on Home Depot's website, I estimated the parts to be about $75. The work was good though it took the technician two hours for about 30 minutes of actual plumbing work. My main complaint is the exorbitant price for a job that was fairly simple. I will not use this company again.

    Clearwater Plumbing & Repair Inc
When I first called Clearwater Plumbing and Repair, Inc, I told them we had a leak in an underground water line in my cattle barn and I was having a hard time providing water for the various animals on the farm because it would freeze on cold days and stop all the water flow. They came out quickly, were very friendly, very informative, answered my silly questions, and gave me a very reasonable estimate. Unfortunately, I was wrong thinking we had a leak because we had a LOT of them in every single section of our underground water lines. The small project I thought we had turned into an uncontrollable monster! This was not your ordinary plumbing job; it is an old farm property with water lines going to all our outbuildings, barns, and hydrants. Some of the water lines were under asphalt, some were under concrete, some were along gas lines, some had electric lines crossing the water line, and some were actually inside buildings. It seemed like each day presented itself with another horrible surprise, like the day they had to bring out the jackhammer because they found the water line went underneath a 3 deep bed of rock that extended for about 40 feet. Each night after they left I was so afraid they would not come back the next day, but every morning they showed up early with pep in their step and smiles on their faces! No doubt this was a disastrous job they took on, but they gave me so much comfort when they would smile and say We got this. I have had many contractors in the past that have run into various surprises on the job only to get mad, throw things around, and yell. but not Clearwater Plumbing!!! I cannot tell you how happy and positive they were throughout the entire 2+ week job!!! I will be forever grateful for not only their excellent plumbing skills, meticulous workmanship, insanely hard work, impeccable cleanup, but they also LOVED my dog!!!

    DB's Plumbing & Drain
I cannot ask for better service. After about 17 years of service, my well pump failed around 10:45 AM. I called DB Plumbing at 11:00 AM and had two DB trucks on site by 11:45 AM. Tommy and Shane spent time troubleshooting the issue and did confirm the pump had failed. Tommy explained the cost of two service levels: 1) to expect the pump only, about $850; 2) to replace the pump, $3,871. I obviously chose to replace the pump. The cost was based on the depth of the well. Mine is 200 feet. The deeper the well, the higher the costs due to pump size and materials. I should add the everything pulled out of the well was replaced with new materials: the pump, electrical wire, the water pipe, etc.

    Reddick & Sons, Inc.
Danny and his team were very responsive to my phone call, and they made my service a priority. He arrived on time and quickly began his diagnosis, explaining the system and the fault...and working toward a solution. Danny is a master plumber, electrician, and HVAC expert with very competitive rates. He's the best repair professional we've ever hired...and we are his customers for life!

    Aits Septic Service Inc
The project was well planned and executed. The price was reasonable for the work performed. Most importantly, Rick was very conscientious about the quality of his work. I have one issue with his subcontractor, Powell Plumbing. The refused to honor my Angies List coupon.

    Vienna Septic Tank Service
Horrible experience. When Mariso showed up, he refused to unroll the hose off his truck to pump the septic (it's 125' from driveway). Other septic pumpers have not had a problem, one even had a 200' hose. He argued with my wife for a long time, and finally she relented and allowed him to drive "a little ways" onto the yard. His "little ways" was completely across the yard, and right next to the tank. He was too lazy to unroll any length of hose. That's when I got on the phone with him. He told me his truck was a "little truck" and didn't even weigh over 10,000 lbs. Do the math, he pumped out 8,000 lbs of sewage, he left dead compacted grass and ruts that hasn't fixed itself in over two weeks. I don't believe he actually possesses a valid CDL, or he would know how much his truck weighs. The only other option is that he flat out lied to me, I'll leave it to you to decide. I think he's used to pumping porta-jons. I would not trust to pump a septic ever again.

The technician is professional and friendly. He was honest and answered to my questions concisely. The leaking problem was fixed and everything worked well so far. The cost estimate was fair and reasonable.
