Lighting Installation reviews in Nokesville

    Murphy Family Services
Outstanding!!! By far one of the finest installations that I have had performed in my home over the last 30 years. Eric who performed the installation is a master at recessed light installation. After a brief survey of my existing lighting and my new requirements he went right to work. He made only two (2) 6"x 6" drywall ceiling cuts to complete the 11 light installation. I envisioned that my ceiling would require major drywall work when he finished and my requirement to hire a drywall contractor. In fact he did such great job in his ceiling entry work I completed the drywall patch work myself. He took advantage of my existing wiring to tie all lights in and replaced existing switches with ones that provided a dimmer capability. If you are thinking of having recessed LED lighting installed and don't hire Murphy Family Services and Eric specifically you're missing out on a great opportunity to spruce up your home with a quality lighting job (Oh! don't forget that you have to buy the LED lights and switches but at today's prices they're a real bargain. Extremely pleased, Joe Vercellone

    Courtesy Electric Inc.
On September 9, 2015, we purchased a deal through Angie's List for three hours of handyman service.  The deal stated, "[c]an be used for everything from minor plumbing and electrical work, . . . ."  On the automated email form and later in a telephone conversation with Courtesy Electric, Jose was advised the work involved putting up lighting fixtures.  Courtesy Electric made an appointment to put up the fixtures on September 25, 2015.
We took time to pick out the fixtures and then I took the day off work to be home when Courtesy Electric arrived.  And I waited, and waited, and waited.  I finally called Courtesy Electric at 3:30 pm to determine what was going on.  Two hours later, Jose with Courtesy Electric called back to inform me he had decided they would not be able to honor the deal because of insurance issues.  Jose admitted he had known of the "insurance issues" for several days but had apparently decided not to let us know.  The insurance issues surrounded sending a "handyman" to do electrical work.  Yet electrical work is the business Courtesy Electric is in and holds itself out as being electrically proficient !!  Is he saying Courtesy Electric is not insured for electrical work?
Courtesy Electric wasted significant amounts of both our time and money and we are not fans of rude inconsiderate behavior.  A reputable company would stand behind the bargain it had made and be more cognizant of quality customer service.  Cannot recommend Courtesy Electric to anyone.

    Lakewood Home Builders Inc
From the first time my wife and I met with John Stageberg, my wife and I knew we had found the right contractor for the job.  To say that the design phase of our remodel was long would be an understatement.  However, John was extremely patient with us and very accommodating. He was always there to lend input when needed and never tried to push anything on us.  He was also very conscious of our budget concerns and did his very best to keep us within it.  I can honestly say that John was the utmost pleasure to work with.  He truly made us feel as though we were dealing with a friend rather than just a business person.  He is  an extremely pleasant-natured gentlemen that we could just as easily see ourselves going out and having a beer with as having him build our dream kitchen.
Being a do-it-yourself kind of person, I naturally wanted to try and take on some of the work.  In this case, I was in charge of the demolition phase.  Unfortunately, at one point, I had a mishap with the ceiling and a true mess was the result.   This mishap involved lots of sheet rock and insulation; neither in the places they should be.  I contacted John after the incident occurred only to get some advice on how to proceed.  I was fully expecting to make the repairs to the ceiling myself.  However, when John heard of the incident, he and his construction manager took time out their schedules the next morning to come over and repair the damage to the ceiling.  I cannot express how much this was appreciated.  This incident  was also the first time I was able to meet our construction manager, Lance Rittenhouse.  As with John, Lance was another gem to work with.  The honesty and integrity of these two gentlemen and the job they do just cannot be expressed enough.  Lance was always extremely informative and walked us through every stage of our construction.
I wish I could say that our construction went by without issue, but unfortunately there were some bumps along the way.  Most of the bumps were minor, a couple were a bit more serious in nature.  The more serious of the problems occurred during our cabinet installation and some poor workmanship in that regard.  However, rather than diving into the minute details of these issues, I would rather concentrate on how these issues were handled.  To me this is how a business is defined.  We are all human, nobody is perfect, and in my life I have come to realize that it is a real rarity when a project completes without issue.  Forme, it is how the issues that arise are dealt with that makes me want to do business with a company again.  EVERY issue that arose during the remodel of our kitchen was handled honestly and with professionalism from both John and Lance.  They went out of their way to ensure that everything was to my utmost satisfaction, performing the work themselves if needed.  It is this type of dedication to there work and striving for complete satisfaction that sets Lakewood Home Builders apart from the other contractor's in my area.   This is why I know exactly who I will be contacting when my next big project comes along.  Thank you, John, Lance and the rest of the Lakewood Home Builders team!   Until next time...

    Electrolite Wiring
They are great. When we have a wiring problem, he is the person we go to. He is extremely polite and very trustworthy. He will tell us upfront what something is going to cost. He is very dependable. He is there when he tells us. If there is a hitch or problem with a part not coming in, he calls us immediately. We would trust him in our home without us being here. His prices are very reasonable. He is very friendly.

Affordable Handyman and Services went very well.  They did this about two weeks ago.  They charged $169.  The experience was very easy and very efficient.  I called them to schedule it, it was within a week from scheduling, it was on time, very polite and professional.

    Root Electric
Massive short burned out oven, microwave, 3 circuit breakers, and a lot of light bulbs. Bill Root returned my call in a few minutes and told me to call the power company to check out their wiring. They came in a couple of hours and gave the outside line a clean bill of health at no cost. Bill was tied up in traffic and came early the next morning. He quickly determined that the neutral contact in one of the two electrical distribution boxes was very loose and had never been completely tightened during the construction of the house. (The county building department is staffed by bureaucrats and inspections are hit or miss.) He fully tightened the loose wire and checked the other 5 lines. He told me I could save a few bucks by replacing the 3 damaged circuit breakers myself.

It went very nicely. He was very knowledgeable and there's nothing that I like the least. There was no original estimate because I just paid for their hours of work.
