Davis is a punctual and responsible businessman . He's a perfectionist and tool his time explaining or answering all questions we had with complete patience. He's friendly yet professional and we felt quite comfortable with him in our home as if we'd known him all of our lives. His work was excellent but came in priced under the competition .

We really liked Carlos but Carlos had forgotten his tarps on the day he sanded our floor and the fine sawdust from sanding the floor was EVERYWHERE.   All over the bar in our basement, stemware, walls, shelving, EVERYWHERE.  We had also just had new carpet put down and the sawdust was all over the new carpet.  Carlos did his hurried best to wipe things down but in no manner did he capture even half the sawdust.  We hired a cleaning service to come and clean up the mess and Bob Anderson was noncommital and frankly did not care about the fine sawdust damages which caused us headaches and extra expenditures.  While we would hire Carlos again in a minute and provide him with tarps, we would hesitate to use Bob Anderson.  Particularly as we were later informed by Carlos that Bob had misled him into believing we did not pay the balance of the bill for the extra square footage due to the sawdust.  We had to provide Carlos with information proving we had paid Anderson so the matter could be handled in small claims court.

Prompt response to purchase of Big Deal.  At the time of the estimate, we agreed to have floor completely sanded instead of just top finish.  The crew took care to minimize dust through the rest of the house and did an excellent job with the refinishing.  They stained and installed new shoe mold to match the floor,  The owner followed up with a phone call to see if we were satisfied.

From the first time my wife and I met with John Stageberg, my wife and I knew we had found the right contractor for the job.  To say that the design phase of our remodel was long would be an understatement.  However, John was extremely patient with us and very accommodating. He was always there to lend input when needed and never tried to push anything on us.  He was also very conscious of our budget concerns and did his very best to keep us within it.  I can honestly say that John was the utmost pleasure to work with.  He truly made us feel as though we were dealing with a friend rather than just a business person.  He is  an extremely pleasant-natured gentlemen that we could just as easily see ourselves going out and having a beer with as having him build our dream kitchen.
Being a do-it-yourself kind of person, I naturally wanted to try and take on some of the work.  In this case, I was in charge of the demolition phase.  Unfortunately, at one point, I had a mishap with the ceiling and a true mess was the result.   This mishap involved lots of sheet rock and insulation; neither in the places they should be.  I contacted John after the incident occurred only to get some advice on how to proceed.  I was fully expecting to make the repairs to the ceiling myself.  However, when John heard of the incident, he and his construction manager took time out their schedules the next morning to come over and repair the damage to the ceiling.  I cannot express how much this was appreciated.  This incident  was also the first time I was able to meet our construction manager, Lance Rittenhouse.  As with John, Lance was another gem to work with.  The honesty and integrity of these two gentlemen and the job they do just cannot be expressed enough.  Lance was always extremely informative and walked us through every stage of our construction.
I wish I could say that our construction went by without issue, but unfortunately there were some bumps along the way.  Most of the bumps were minor, a couple were a bit more serious in nature.  The more serious of the problems occurred during our cabinet installation and some poor workmanship in that regard.  However, rather than diving into the minute details of these issues, I would rather concentrate on how these issues were handled.  To me this is how a business is defined.  We are all human, nobody is perfect, and in my life I have come to realize that it is a real rarity when a project completes without issue.  Forme, it is how the issues that arise are dealt with that makes me want to do business with a company again.  EVERY issue that arose during the remodel of our kitchen was handled honestly and with professionalism from both John and Lance.  They went out of their way to ensure that everything was to my utmost satisfaction, performing the work themselves if needed.  It is this type of dedication to there work and striving for complete satisfaction that sets Lakewood Home Builders apart from the other contractor's in my area.   This is why I know exactly who I will be contacting when my next big project comes along.  Thank you, John, Lance and the rest of the Lakewood Home Builders team!   Until next time...

    Capital Carpet
We were satisfied with them. They refinished the carpet for us.  He did hardwood flooring on the lower level and on the upper level he did the carpet. He was pretty decent in what he was doing. I wasn't happy with the finished result and I called him and he sent the guys right away and took care of the problem. He takes the time to evaluate what the needs are.

    GBC Kitchen & Bath
The entire renovation was extremely successful.  GBC was one of three companies that we requested a proposal from and decided this company would be the best.  When we met at the Alexandria showroom we were helped with our color choices for the tile, cabinets, floor, and knobs and I would add without pressure.  Our contract manager and crew manager were top notch.  Each area of construction was professionally completed and questions we had were resolved immediately. The additional crew members were very polite and cleaned up after each work time.
I would like to add that the second showroom is called United Floors, Kitchen, and Bath in Rockville, MD. and the same  crew works there as well.  We chose the Alexandria location because of where we live.

    Sosa General Contractor LLC
Jose was prompt and began the job shortly after we purchased the "Big Deal" for our shower.  When Jose came out to survey the job, we asked for an estimate to tile the floor--which we accepted.  We also had him and his crew do some plumbing in the shower and repair some damage to the sub-floor. They removed the old baseboard and installed new baseboard, caulking it perfectly.  They are very good carpenters!  The shower and floor look great. Each day they were conscientious about cleaning up before leaving for the day.  We are very happy with the quality of the work performed and would highly recommend Sosa Ceramic.

    L & L Floor and Interiors LLC
I believe they are oriented in serving builders so we were low man on the totem pole. They put the floor in the house originally when it was built for the previous owner. It was like the left hand wasn't talking to the right hand. The communication was not always prompt in that it felt like it fell through the cracks. I'm sure their work is good. They are a large company and they have had success. I think it is just that we are not the kind of customer they are prepared to deal with. I was disappointed. It didn't seem like they were all that interested in getting our business. They were not good at returning phone calls.
