I am writing this on behalf of my 93 year old Mother. The office staff is very friendly. The social worker that sees my mother always greets me and shakes my hand before and after every session. She likes Mr. Havrilla very much and is happy to continue seeing him. As I sit in the waiting room I watch the other counselors/patients. The counselors are all friendly and cheerful when they come into the waiting room and I think I would feel comfortable with any of them. I believe at least one of them does child counseling as I quite often see children, teens and young adults in the waiting room. Based on my/my mothers experience I would recommend this office to everyone.

I have been going to Dr. Chessan (via staff member Pam - I think she is a nurse, not really sure - and apsychologist at his facility) for about 2 years now and was mildly satisfied for a while but the last 3 visits have been really terrible and I realized I have to move on. Regular visit: Dr. Chessan spends very little time with his patients, I speak to Nurse Pam for about 5 mins max and then she writes the prescription and he comes asks how I am feeling, signs and gives this creepy grin like he is trying to figure out if you are "crazy" or like you are a little kid. You take the script, pay and leave. One good point, they are very prompt on getting people in and out, so if you know what medicine you need and aren't having any problems then it is great, you will be in and out in sometimes less than 15 mins from the time you pull into the parking lot until you get back in your car. 3/10 visit: (icing on the cake) Saw Dr. Chessan via nurse Pam; described the problems I was having and she suggested one medication in addition to what I am already taking and suggested that I probably have ADD (attention deficit disorder) or mild bipolar disorder. She suggested that I get a full workup to determine which I have and talked about some possible medicines to treat either condition. She did not really explain the side effects of the medicine or anything more, but called in Dr. Chessen. When Dr. Chessan came in she explained to him that I am probably bipolar (mentioning NOTHING about the possiblity of ADD) even though no testing had been done and she had only spoken to me for about 5 minutes tops about the possibility of either. He told me about 4 different drugs for bipolar and asked which one I would like to try. Since he had really given me very little info about any of them. I asked him which one he thought would be the best and he said they were all good drugs. I asked about side effects and he said they were all minimal. I asked him if there were any complications with any of these with the birth control IUD that I have or migraine medication I take occassionally. He seemed very annoyed that I was even asking about side effects or complications from other drugs and said no no complications, smiled at me like I was a little kid and left. Nurse Pam, wrote me a prescription for of the medicines he had mentioned "because this one doesn't cause weight gain" (don't really know what I am supposed to read into that - and since that wasn't one of my questions is obviously not what is most important to me). Still haven't been tested for bipolar, so I don't know why she was giving me a prescription for it. She also said they were out of samples but to call if it was very expensive at the pharmacy. I called 2 days later because it was expensive and she said they had gotten samples in to come by the office and she would have it at the front for me. I sent my husband and they gave him the wrong medicine (it was labeled for another patient)! I called the next day and they were way more concerned that I might keep the medicine than they were about giving out the wrong thing. They assured me that they had it up front and I went that afternoon after work. They didn't have it up there!! I waited for more than 30 mins. while they looked for it and tried to find someone who might know where it was. I asked them to give Pam a note to call me, and that I would rather pay for the prescription than drive all the way across town again. They said that they would give it to her and she would call me first thing in the morning. Guess what, no call! So I called them the day after Pam should have called me and she said no it is at the front you can come get it any time. That day I would be in the area so I stopped by and they actually had it that day. No apology from anyone for all my trouble. I get home and start reading the info that came with the medicine and the first thing on the package insert in big bold capital letters is DO NOT TAKE WITH BIRTHCONTROL - MAY RENDER BIRTH CONTROL INEFFECTIVE. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR FIRST. Funny because I had talked to my doctor and he said it was fine. I called the pharmacy and he said absolutly do not take this with my IUD. He said some pills the dosage can be adjusted to make it effective still, but not the IUD I have. He also said it does have the potential to have very bad interactions with my migraine medicine. So basically Dr. Chessen doesn't know anything about the medicine that he is prescribing and doesn't even know if what he is prescribing medicine for is actually the condition the person has. He took "practicing" medicine a little too literally. This was the final staw I am done with him and his office.
