    Initial visit was fine. Was talked into a service contract which over a year later they have not honored. Horrible communication. Cancelled first appointment for service contract. Then were not flexible enough to work with me on another one. Then for months, unanswered phone calls and emails. Finally made contact on Facebook and refund promised with time frame for arrival. That was a lie as it was never sent. They then ceased communication. Then emails with owner of company and promised again refund to be sent to me. Never sent. Lied again. Then ceased all email communication with me. Third time, office tells me refund is mailed. Never sent. Now getting runaround and excuse after excuse and no refund sent. DO NOT deal with this company. Read the reiews, surprised they are still in business. Breach of contract, fraud, lying, theft. Should I continue!

    Very quick response to my phone call. Appointment scheduled within a few days. Technician arrived on time. Diagnostic work was very thorough with detailed explanation and great patience with my questions. Was able to replace two large fuses on this ~28 year old unit, clean up the electrical contacts, and restore to full operation. Very pleased with the service and will certainly use this contractor again when needed.

Scott met me at the house at about 8:30am and by 2pm the same day the new outside Condenser unit had been replaced, was blowing cold, and the old unit hauled away. I was amazed at the speed of the installation.

    I called the office and the young lady answering the telephone was very professional and knowledgeable. I described my problem and, according to my convenience and preference, she gave me several choices as to when a technician could come by (the same morning) to diagnose my issue. She also gave me the price of a service call with diagnostics over the phone so there would be no surprises. Keith, the service technician arrived as promised. We spoke and he went right to work checking all facets of my system. Keith was knowledgeable, well spoken, polite and professional in every sense of the word. He kept me informed throughout the process of what he was doing and what he was finding. Through a process of elimination, he determined the issue and fixed it. Keith is the kind of employee any employer would be proud of. If my experience is typical of all of the customers of Lighthouse Mechanical, I would highly recommend them. I will call them again in the future.

    BACKRIVER COOLING AND HEATING SAVED ME $4,400! During the recent cold snap, my house would not heat above 62 degrees and the furnace ran constantly. I have a dual fuel heat pump system with AC and gas heat back-up. When the temperature drops below a set point, my auxiliary gas heat turns on. My normal service provider was bought out by Miller's Heating and Cooling so I called them for service. After examining my system, the Miller's tech told me that my gas furnace was working but that my heat pump control panel and compressor were dead. With replacement of those two parts at $4,500, the Miller's tech recommended a new AC unit for $4,400. I decided to get a second opinion and called Backriver Cooling and Heating based on Angie's List reviews. The owner examined my system (with no background on Miller's assessment from me) and found the problem. A circuit board had been installed upside down so the compressor was off and faulty wiring of the auxiliary gas heat relay kept it from working at all. The compressor and control panel were working fine. The only other company that has serviced my system since my original company was Miller's. The fix cost me $105 instead of the $4,400 Miller's wanted to charge me. Lance, the owner of Backriver was extremely knowledgeable, thorough, professional and friendly. I highly recommend Backriver Cooling and Heating and am so grateful their honesty and experience saved me $4,400. I will be using them in the future.

    Lighthouse Mechanical Heating & Cooling
    I have had Lighthouse Mechanical do some work in the past and their fee seemed to be reasonable. They were helpful, polite and did good work. However, I am now questioning their fee and service. I called them on a Saturday because my system was not working. The tech was able to come out for a $99.00 diagnostic fee which I thought was reasonable for a weekend and with cold weather starting the next evening needed to get the system fixed. The tech was at my place for a minimum of 3 hours and could not locate the issue. The tech was very nice and tried hard. He even called another technician on the phone for assistance. He said he would need to come back the next day with another tech to figure out the issue. The next morning, Sunday, they both came and after more than an hour determined it was the defrost board on the heat pump. As parts places were closed they would need to come back on Monday to install a new board. They were able to do a bypass and get the heat pump to run in the meantime. The tech said the board would run $200 to $300 tops to install price. The office calls me Monday morning and it will be $408 plus the $99 diagnostic fee, Its extremely cold outside so can't really argue and price it out elsewhere. So that Monday after the call about the price another tech shows up with the board and completes the install successfully. Again nice tech even when he had to be outside working in the cold. I receive my invoice and later that day I take a moment to check the part number of the board against the internet to check pricing... $115 was the highest price I could fine. Called the person from the office to see why I was charged $408 plus the $99 diagnostic fee as this didn't add up. I understand mark-up but that's a big mark up on a $115 part and less than an hour���s labor to install it. The person that gave me the price was out and would call me back. No call back that day so I called again the next day and she answered. Her response to me is that they charge a flat fee not based on the part cost or actual installation fee but a national average. And also as they are a Trane dealer and I have a Carrier unit it is more expensive. Customers need to be aware of this. Won't be calling them again. Nice techs but 5 hours plus over two days to figure out the issue and their pricing scheme is not fair. I will check elsewhere next time.

    I was quoted an amazing price. The price was $700 less than the nearest quote and the system that was recommended to me was a better system than the closest competitor. Cory and his team arrived on time to install my new system. They were courteous and professional and friendly. They arrived ready to work and they answered all my questions. They had the system installed and tested the same day. They removed all of the old unit parts and left my home clean and tidy. Cory programmed my new thermostat based upon my lifestyle and explained everything carefully to me. I mentioned my experience to my co-workers and they all agreed that I got an excellent deal and wanted to know more about their company. I highly recommend this company if you need someone you can trust that will give you a fair price and not overcharge you. They have expert knowledge and pride themselves in quality workmanship. I could not be more happier with the experience.

    My 26 year old hydro HVAC system was leaking so I figured it was time to replace it. I had 5 proposals to convert my system to a heat pump unit. I selected Backriver due to Lance's professionalism and a very good proposal. He patiently answered all my questions before installation (and I had a whole bunch of them). The installation was completed in one day. Lance and an assistant used the garage access to the attic, even though the hallway access was right next to the air handler. Lance did not want to take a chance of dirtying up the carpet in the house. My wife was very appreciative of that. I know my system presented some difficulties like extreme corrosion but Lance and assistant were very cordial throughout the entire process. Clean-up was more than satisfactory. After the install he made sure I had all the documentation and explained what I needed to do to maintain the system. At first glance Backriver C&H may seem like a very small operation that can't possibly handle system replacements, but when you listen to Lance you can tell he has the experience to handle any cooling/heating job out there. I highly recommend Backriver C&H and would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

    This company is amazing. It's rare that you find someone who is honest, and cares anymore. I have a very long story as to why I found Mr. Silva and his assistant so incredible. I will keep it short for you. My family and I just bought a house. There were a few things wrong during the inspection that were "supposed" to have been fixed. Turns out nothing was fixed. We moved into a house that did not have a working HVAC unit. We were "supposed" to have a home warranty as well. That didn't go into affect until a week later. Meanwhile it's 85 on the first floor and who knows how hot upstairs. I decided to take matters into my own hands and contacted Mr. Silva on Friday night. He reached out to me with in 20 minutes of my request. He was extremely responsive. He asked lots and lots of questions. He even offered to come by that very same night to see if he could fix it then. That shocked me. I mean what company do you know that offers to come out right then and there without any question?! His emergency fee was less than $100. Every HVAC place we have used previously charged well over that. He came by the next morning around 7:30 am to check it out. It seemed to be working fine. It was cool in the home. The thermostat read what I had set it on the night before. He told me if there were any changes to let him know. Well as the day went on it just kept getting hotter and hotter in the home. We were moving in that day so you can imagine just how hot we really were. I contacted him, that afternoon. He had gone out of town on Sunday. However, he was there first thing Monday morning. He did some diagnosing, and figured out the problem after an hour or so of testing. He didn't have the part with him, but it was in stock. Being that this was later in the afternoon he would have to wait until Tuesday to pick up the part. He was there first thing Tuesday morning. He and his assistant worked like crazy to get my unit up and running. Guess What! They did! Not only that, he fixed a couple other issues with the unit, thoroughly cleaned it, cleaned up the attic where the previous person had just thrown trash all over the place, and he even tried to help me fix my broken refrigerator. He couldn't, but he tried. Which says a lot about his character. His price wasn't astronomical either. I thought it was a great price for all the work he did for me. He restored my faith in humanity again. He treats you like you were his daughter, sister, brother, mother, father, etc... He will make sure the job is done, and done right. He doesn't cut corners. He is the real deal, and has a customer for life with me. Trust me when I tell you that you will not be disappointed. If you were thinking about switching your HVAC company give this guy a shot. I am sure you will not be disappointed.
