    DECORATIVE CONCRETE OF VIRGINIA
I had the privilege of having Decorative Concrete of VA work on my basement in Lynchburg. They turned my dark basement into a living space and for a reasonable price! They're professional, responsive, and very patient when working with your schedule. I am super pleased with the job they did. I will definitely use their services again! Highly recommend!

Nick responded to my initial phone call very quickly. He came out to the house and discussed what the Scope of Work would be. He provided a quote via email with in a couple of days. I went out for 3 different bids and decided Nick was going to be awarded the bid. We agreed on the Services/Price and it was the very next week he was able to start the work. His crew was very professional and hard working - no sitting around smoking or complaining of the heat, they had one goal in mind, to finish the job and do a quality job. They actually finished a day earlier. We are very pleased with the outcome, the Stamped front walk-way looks very impressive blending with all the stone on my house. I would highly recommend Nick.

    Xpert Foundations Inc
I have a new construction in Rockbridge county that needed work done to properly drain around the house (crawlspace was filling up with water).  Xpert Foundations came to the rescue and installed a 3 part waterproofing system and exterior drain tiles.  Xpert Foundations was very busy, but worked me in so my new construction schedule wouldn't be further delayed.  While they were out here, Luis saw that the foundation for the step portion of my bricked back porch was laid on gravel and on top of an old perimeter drain.  It would eventually separate from the main porch, so while he was here and had the ditch dug for the drain pipes, I had him install 2 helical piers to hold the steps up.  I also needed an additional step on both the front and back porch and he framed and poured concrete for those.  Reinforcements of rebar were bored into the the existing foundation, extending into the new poured concrete to tie the two together.  My original GC did not plan for enough steps, which led to this problem.  In addition, my GC did not fill my concrete foundation blocks with rebar and concrete.  This left potential structural problems for lateral movement, especially in areas where the block was 6 rows high.  My structural engineer suggested additional reinforcement which involved knocking holes in the CMU, installing bent rebar and filling with cement.  Xpert Foundations did this work in critical areas only.  As money allows, I will call Xpert Foundations back out to fortify other areas in the foundation that are less critical, but still important for my peace of mind. The work was done quickly and thoroughly.  I would definitely recommended Xpert Foundations and would use them again as the need arises.  I feel my house is now well drained, and structurally sound.     I worked with Luis.  He was great - very professional and easy to work with.  I am a woman and am used to many contractors talking down to me or in such a way that I felt they thought my questions or concerns were stupid or trivial.  Luis was not that way at all.  He explained everything thoroughly and answered all my questions.  His crew was great also - very hard working and polite.

.1. The workers arrived and removed chain link fencing to bring in bobcat. They ended up having to hand dig the sidewalk area but did a quick and thorough job of the pool area with the bobcat. They assured the pool area was level by using a laser light. The workers were polite and hard-working cleaned up after themselves including putting the chain link fence back up . Nick, the company owner, was in and out to check on progress of the job. When everything was complete it looked great to us. However, Nick was concerned about some dirt tracked over the patio that the new sidewalk connected to. So he came out the next day (Saturday) and pressure washed the entire sidewalk and patio area himself. The entire job turned out exactly the way we hoped it would. 2. The sandblasting worked very well. The concrete front porch looks brand new. The workers gathered up the sand used to blast the paint off the front porch and saved it in bags for us. We were able to re-use the sand in the bottom of the pool area to provide padding for the liner. Nick recommended the appropriate type of stain to put on the concrete porch. (What Walmart had recommended 3 yrs ago did not stay on and left bare spots where we walked and where the porch furniture was placed). James T. Davis sells the stain and we will be applying it this week. We are very happy with the entire experience and work done by Shields Concrete.

    KLM Builders
In the past, the transition from the driveway to the patio involved walking in grass, mud and snow and was very unsafe and unsightly. KLM installed the stairs and did all the extra work we asked for with the most incredible professionalism. Now we have an awesome staircase with a concrete pad that connects the stairs to the patio. It not only looks awesome we cannot believe the quality of this staircase done with treated wood in a series of 9 platforms linked together to provide extended depth of the steps. We also have a hand rail mounted on the concrete wall down the side of the house. In addition we asked them to put in buried electrical conduit and a water pipe to transition the gutter water from the front and lower patios to the lawn below all under ground. We were amazed at their ability to make this all happen and look like a job that cost twice as much (we had bids for over $3600 for this job). We are thrilled with Tim the owner and his son who worked their tails off to make this happen in a few days for a fair price and a positive and helpful approach. We whole heartedly recommend them for this type of work. We like them so much we are planning to have help us build a bedroom in our basement.

    M&W Concrete And Coating
My experience was very, very good.  They stayed up after midnight to make sure that the concrete was done right.  They had to be here while it was hardening and stuff so they were here after midnight sitting and watching and guarding it making sure it was right.  One would not find a company that would do that for sure.

    Ascension Builders Inc
My husband and I moved to Lynchburg almost two years ago.  Since we didn't know any contractors personally, we chose a class ?A? contractor we felt we could trust.  His demeanor seemed professional; however, as we began the building process, we discovered his character and craftsmanship was flawed.  The original concrete porch, along with many other items, was poorly constructed, defective and not what you would expect in a new, custom built home.  The front porch was rough and unsightly.  It was very uneven and unprofessionally poured.  In addition, no steps were taken to protect the new concrete from being stained with orange clay, which added to the ugliness of the porch.  Thankfully, we located Matt Van Alstine via Angie's List and believe we found a top notch, high quality team to work with us on resolving our issues.   When we contacted Matt, he immediately answered our call and scheduled an appointment to meet with us.  He was punctual and very detailed.  He spent a great amount of time listening to our concerns and answered our questions.  He was patient, courteous, knowledgeable and professional.  The estimate provided was detailed and there were no hidden costs.  Matt explained exactly what he was going to do and when something changed regarding the work he set out to do, he first talked with us before making any changes to the plan of action.  I felt Matt not only listened to us but he felt sympathy for what we had been through and wanted to prove that not every contractor is untrustworthy.  I appreciated the fact that Matt and his team took precautions to keep the areas they were working on clean, even after the work was completed, the crew tidied up all disturbed areas and left things in aesthetically pleasing condition.  Moreover, the front porch is absolutely gorgeous and I am so proud to entertain friends and family on this beautifully poured porch.    Matt personally oversaw what his crew did and even did some of the more difficult work himself.  Please note, this was NO easy task as we had a lot of brick work to jack hammer around.  The team proceeded with extreme caution and were very careful to place plywood and drop cloths up to protect glass windows and decorative glass panels on the front door.   Matt came back to the residence many times to approve the work his men did.  For the first time, we felt we were in very capable hands.  It was a breath of fresh air to work with someone who is a true craftsman and takes pride in his work.  I believe Matt is more expensive because he hires high quality crew members and you know the old adage:  YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!  My husband and I would not hesitate to use Matt and Ascension Builders again for future work.  In fact, when time and resources allow, he will be the one we call upon and trust to refinish our basement.  He was a Godsend and we could not be more thankful to Matt.

These young men gave me a fair estimate. They were clean cut, arrived on time, knew what products to use. The process took several days. When they had to add another gallon of expensive paint, they did not charge me for it but included it in their original estimate. I was impressed with their work and their character.

    Custom Home Repairs
The work went great, some delay due to rain, but they were here every day they could be until the job as finished. They ran into more problems with tree roots than they had expected but kept on going till the job was completed. The Quote they gave me was very reasonable and they never asked for more. These are two hard working men. My new porch and sidewalk looks great.
