Dog Grooming reviews in Midlothian

Our dogs left Broughton's so soaked in their own urine that their feet had deep burns, the hair on their bellies and legs was stained yellow & falling out in clumps, and our female dog had a quarter-size (semi-healed) gash under her neck that ran almost to the end of her chin (red flag!). When we got home, CJ got out of the car & wouldn't walk on one of his front paws. Belle got out of the car not putting weight on one of her rear legs. We bathed them right away, being quick about it since we knew the urine burns on their feet had to sting. The amount of hair that fell off of their bellies during & after the bath was alarming. After sending pictures to the vet to be sure I was not crazy in thinking our dogs had been neglected, I called Broughton's. I told them we understand our dogs coming home tired, dirty, and smelly. We were not happy about them returning with lick/hot spots, pink eye, and uncontrollable sneezing which we treated at home, but the urine burns & neck wound were unacceptable. Had we known our dogs were suffering we would have had them picked up a week earlier saving them a lot of pain due to neglect. Broughton's answer was that our dogs were old and laid around a lot. When asked, they offered no explanation as to why they didn't call us. I asked if they had even really looked at our dogs, and could I send them pictures of the wounds. Once Broughton's received the pics, they asked what they could do to "resolve the issue". After sending the pictures to Broughton's, they offered to pay our vet bills, but stated that they would not refund the kennel fee. After 4 weeks of vet visits, I told them that our dogs urine burns were due to neglect under their care and they agreed to refund us half of the kennel cost. I asked them in the future to consider calling dog owners rather than letting things get so out of hand and allowing pets to suffer. Although we received some monetary restitution, our dogs suffered greatly because of a company that is in the business of caring for animals and claims to enjoy dogs. If you care at all for your pets, please choose another kennel as I believe neglect is the least of the animal mistreatment that goes on here.

Great, Coconut loved her groomer and she is fussy. She looked so cute afterwards. Totally happy with the service and I would highly recommend them. It was so nice for them to come to me and not to have to worry about my fur baby.

This is a wonderful place for my big goldendoodle. We recently rescued a smaller mixed breed, and he liked Broughton's too. One of the best things is that Broughton's has a good relationship with my vet. So the vet's office just emails the health info to them.

    Sloppy Kisses Dog Grooming Spa
We've been going to Sloppy Kisses for four or five years now. We had tried getting our dog groomed at Petco or Petsmart, and when we went, we would get someone different every time. I always heard the same complaint though: your dog is really hard to groom. She wriggles out of people's arms, spends the whole time trying to run away, growls, makes it hard to get to the areas you're trimming. You get the idea. But the groomers at Sloppy Kisses can handle her just fine. They do an excellent job washing her and grooming her. She looks good and smells good when she comes home.

Typically, I call and leave a message requesting an appointment, I give some idea of the dates and times that would work for me, and they call back and schedule my appointment. If I say, "I need the next opening you have on a Saturday," they'll call back and  if I don't answer, they leave a message, "We put you down for ..." and schedule it that way. Based on other reviews, I'm thinking some customers don't realize that it's a small business, so there isn't a dedicated receptionist who's there just to take phone calls. But when you're there at the register talking to the groomer about what your dog needs, she doesn't tell you to hold on so she can take a call. Personally, I really like that. Their cost was even a little lower than the big box store, at least it was a few years ago, and the quality is higher. They're great and it's totally worth it to wait until they're taking new clients.

I like their scheduling and they work with our schedule. Their care and concern for the dog is great. I really like the products, they use are very good as well. The reason the price is a little higher this time is because huskies shed a lot so they had to do more brushing than normal.

This was our first time at any kennel in the Richmond area after moving from Seattle, and we couldn't be happier! The staff was great. They were professional and efficient, especially for a holiday drop off! Our two pups were kept in the same room, so they wouldn't get lonely, and they both got baths before we picked them up on Sunday. The pups were happy and clean after our holiday weekend.

    Tori's K9 Adventures
My vet recommended Tori's K-9 Adventure when I mentioned living in an area with few dogs and not having opportunity to work on socialization skills.

I followed up on the recommendation and couldn't be more pleased. My puppy, Rags, was evaluated and now attends "puppy day care" three times a week. He is losing his shyness around dogs (and people) and doesn't hesitate to join in group romps. His basic training at home is reinforced at "camp" and, overall, it's a wonderful experience for him. A big plus is being able to drop him off without notice for as little or much time as I like.

The staff could not be more courteous, accommodating or friendly.

I plan to keep Rags in the program over the winter to continue his social training while providing a playful environment.

The young woman who came here to do the job was very sweet and friendly and spent a long time working on Lady. When lady came back in from the van she was so happy that she rolled all over the rugs for at least 10 minutes just rolling and rolling and rolling. She smelled wonderful and so far is not shedding like she had been. We were very happy with their work and have already signed up for another in 8 weeks.

    Sloppy Kisses Dog Grooming Spa
We were really excited to try this groomer due to the good reviews.  We had recently moved to the area and were new clients for this groomer.  When I called she was very knowledgeable and friendly and we set up the appointments for my 2 dogs.  Upon arriving for our appointment everything went as expected and we thoroughly went over how I wanted my dogs' cuts.  After taking the entire day for the grooming to be completed, I picked them up only to NOT have them cut in the manner that we had discussed at all.  I wanted them both SHAVED down and neither of them looked to have had any hair cut except for around their faces.  Nothing else was cut, not even the necessary spots like their tails and undersides.  That should be a given, if nothing else!  I know it takes time to break in a new groomer so I thought to give her another try before moving on to another groomer.   Her prices are in line with what's in the area but the customer service is unforgivable.  Since that day I have tried to call and left several messages and no one ever answers the phone.  They have a message machine that asks you to leave messages, but NO ONE ever calls you back.  Even while I was in there with my dogs on that appointment day they didn't answer the phone, just let it ring and ring.  How I ever got into that first appointment is a miracle because this groomer obviously doesn't want any more clients and can't properly take care of the ones she already has.

    Baldwin Creek Animal Hospital
I go there once a year for their vaccinations. Thats in August so I will be going soon. The groomer is priced reasonable. It is hard to find someone to groom a cat. I can pretty much get him in with in a week from when I call. They like my cat even though he doesn't like being groomed. They don't complain. They always fond something nice to say about him even though he is a pill. They are good doctors there. I will continue to use their services.
