    Del's Automotive

Del's has been our 1st choice in vehicle repair/maintenance for over 2 years now.  We have always been pleased with the service we receive from Chris & his staff.  We enjoy the friendly, personal attention that we get from them.  And we know that our vehicles are getting the best service possible.  If problems come up during service, Chris lets us know right away and gives us easy to understand information on what's needed to correct the issue as well as what the cost will be.

I have put over $100,000 into my classic Porsche 911 over the years.
One of the plaguing problems for years has been stalling and leaving me stranded on the road. For years I thought it was a battery short and many dealers were unable to solve.
I switched to Bill at Ferris and his team and they solved the electrical shorting problem with a baffle and some insulation. But it was still stalling occasionally, albeit far less badly.
I realized on one stall on I-95 that if I opened the fuel cap, then the car would start. When I dropped it off at Ferris, I told them I had a vapor lock problem which was depriving the motor of gas and stalling it.
Well, instead they found that the gas tank vent had been plugged with some body puddy, accidentally apparently when the car was under body work several years ago, and that a vacuum lock was occuring.
I'm telling you that after owning dozens of classic/expensive cars that this was absolute mechanical brilliance and diligence; and that truly my porsche has not run as well as it is running now in the 20 years that I've possessed it!!!
BIll and Rod absolutely know their stuff and are the best, most honest mechanics I've ever known!! They did a couple of adjustments for practically nothing and charge really honestly for the labor and parts they put it. SIMPLY THE BEST!!!! TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!

SUMMARY: These guys were absolutely horrible and, in my opinion, questionably unethical UNTIL a senior supervisor John Verns (sp?) stepped in. With his oversight and several subsequent bumbles we finally got the viper running correctly, but it took over six weeks and over $3,200.00 in cash. As I live close to an hour away and it took me over 5 trips back and forth, it was a disaster. With John Verns running repair and closely supervising and fixing this bungling I would use them again -- but with extreme caution and only if I HAD to use the DODGE DEALER.

    MY BACKGROUND:

I have owned dozens of vehicles and dealt with dozens of service shops around the area. Vehicles included lamborghini diablo, mercedes SL5.5 AMG, corvette convertible, BMW M-Roadster, mercedes SLK 3.2 convertible, porsche 911 turbo, dodge viper, jaguar van der plass, Hummer H-1, Ford 350 Dually King Ranch, etc., etc.

I have owned more than a dozen motorcycles including my current Ducati, Harley Davidson, and Suzuki.I own a 40' RV and 24' center-console boat. I was in the Army as an officer for 7 years and served in combat during Desert Shield and Desert Storm in a Mechanized Infantry Division (24th ID (M)) where we used hundreds of pieces of complex equipment in the worst possible environments with extremely complicated maintenance and operations procedures.

I have considerable experience in all facets of equipment maintenance over 30 years as an operator and maintainer; not as a mechanic.

    THE STORY:

My Dodge Viper had been running rough -- some chugging and skipping during acceleration, loss of power. Check engine light was on and saying and giving a code for an emissions sensor. It's also leaking water into the passenger compartment when it rains.

After dropping it off for a couple of days, Rob in service tells me that a mouse has made a nest in the engine and chewed up the wiring harness near the computer chip. They don't keep these in stock, so Dodge will have to MANUFACTURE me a new one and it will take 3 weeks. Also, I have to replace the window motor/guide as the gap on the passenger side is where the window comes in. Total: $3000.00. I okay it.

I come back in 4 weeks later, pay the tab, and drive home. On the way home, engine is rough. I think it's because its been sitting and may have bad gas; run the gas out, put more in, get back home and the check engine light comes back on again. And for some reason on the way home the A/C goes out!! Somehow they've lost the charge on the A/C whilst bumbling around the engine compartment. AND its still doing the rough engine running! I drive it in 120 degree heat for an hour BACK to the dealer and complain. They do a quick look and can't figure out what's wrong -- and I lose my mind for spending $2000 on an engine harness and ECU computer unit -- and they weren't the issue!!! And on top, my car has been sitting on the lot for over a month and looks like total crap -- for my $3000.00 and month of waiting they couldn't even WASH the car!

They agree to stand behind their work. Enter Management, John Verns, who takes over. Charge the A/C unit for no-charge. Couple more days, supposedly a couple of sensor repairs, and it's running good. I plead with John to double-check the car and take it on a test drive because I've spent multiple hours running back and forth; he does so and confirms all is good. He IS kind enough to FLATBED the car out to my house! He assures me he's tested it and it's working great now.

Get the car back; use it a couple of times, and sure enough -- check engine light comes on AGAIN!!!!! Have to drive it back and pick it up again, but for ANOTHER $200 they diagnose a broken hose and repair it for me. They are trying hard to be professional but with multiple screwups and multiple WRONG diagnoses their credibility is suspect -- but they still aren't afraid to run the $$ meter even more!!

So far the Viper is working again. John Verns was very reasonable and the only reason I haven't totally failed them in this report, along with the fact that after 5 tries and 5 weeks their Viper mechanic finally appears to have fixed the car.

Proceed ONLY if you have a DODGE and require dealer service. Seek out Management immediately if anything funny at all.

Fantastic. Multiple diagnoses, multiple solutions, very price sensitive, very understanding, highly technically competent, absolute pleasure to deal with, fabulous work.

I have considerable experience in all facets of equipment maintenance over 30 years; these guys are THE BEST small independent shop I've dealt with and may possibly be THE BEST EVER.

Rod and Bill are experts and are GOOD. Can't give you a higher recommendation.
