We contracted with Dixie Plate Glass to make and install a piece of glass. The glass is circa 3 feet by 4 feet and sits atop a pony wall separating a shower from a tub.
We contacted Dixie Plate Glass and they said they could fill our request for custom glass. They said they could both make/cut the glass and install the glass. The work was done on time and the glass looks great, but their installation was definately lacking. Dixie Plate glass installers sealed the area around the glass with a silicon caulk and it looked terrible. They told us that once it and quot;setand quot; that it would look good. The silicon was sloopy; absent in places and lumpy in others. We phoned and asked them to return and fix the problem. The Dixie Plate Glass office contacted the lead man on the installation (Mike) and he did phone and asked us what the problem was. After hearing what we had to say, he said that he would come over in a couple of days and take a look. We never heard from him again. We ended up hiring another contractor to remove the silicon caulk that Dixie Plate Glass installed and recaulk. Now it looks good and professional. Mike was also the installer who stood on my brand new tub surround with his boots on and scarred the surface, The scars were so deep that they would not buff out, but had to be resanded.
