I was so impressed with Dante from our first phone call. He answered the call right away himself, answered my questions, and set up a time to come out and access the situation. He was completely accommodating of my schedule. The very first thing he did was provide me with his license and insurance information, before I even asked him to. Upon his very thorough inspection it was determined my mother-in-law's house needed Mold Remediation and Installation of a Vapor Barrier System (Encapsulation) in the Crawl Space. We decided to go with Dante because of his extensive knowledge and experience in the area of finding and resolving moisture and mold issues. Dante answered every question we had as well as explained every answer in great detail. He made sure we understood each and every step in the process. He gave us an enormous wealth of information and peace of mind, that my mother-in-law's house would be a safe living environment for her. Dante had genuine concern for her well-being and was genuinely interested in helping us. We really appreciated this. Dante and his team showed up right on time and ready to begin. We were unaware of all the debris and trash that had been left underneath the house that other contractors and repair people had just left behind over the years. Dante and his crew removed and cleaned all that up before they began. Dante and his team removed all the old insulation, sealed all accessible penetrations (electrical, plumbing,HVAC,etc.), temporarily installed air moving devices at the crawl space door to greatly reduce dust, odors and pollutants and to suck air out of the crawl space only during mold remediation procedures and upon vapor barrier installation, hand scrubbed affected areas of the crawl space, install new insulation, and install the vapor barrier. He even found a leak in the foundation wall and repaired this at no extra charge. We were so impressed with Dante, his work and his team that we had him renovate my mother-in-law's bathroom. He is so knowledgeable about construction and has an eye for detail and design, he was instrumental in helping design the bathroom. He had to gut the entire bathroom and I mean from ceiling to floor and everything inbetween. The before and after is nothing short of amazing. It is absolutely gorgeous. I told Dante he needed his own home improvement show. The ceramic tile design and work alone is absolutely beautiful. He did bring some things to our attention that we had not thought about. He widened the entry door to make it wheelchair accessible if ever it was needed in the future, the new commode is taller, the light switches are not flipped up and down, instead you just touch the switch and it comes on and goes off. The fold down teak wood shower chair looks great. The bathroom turned out so well my mother-in-law decided to renovate the entire rest of the house. Dante began with the bedrooms and living room. He had to tear down panelling and layers of wallpaper behind the panelling in each room. We even discovered wallpaper had been at some point placed onto some of the ceilings. After removing all the panelling, wallpaper and repairing or replacing drywall, everything was painted. He also had to replace a lot of trim work and interior doors as well as updating the electrical and electrical fixtures. He found additional unused space in the hall and built a linen closet. He also built and installed additional closet space in the third bedroom tripling the closet space for that room. Dante is a genius with designing extra space that you didn't know you could have. We decided to not replace the carpet in the house, but instead Dante had the original hardwood floors refinished. They look stunning! The kitchen and utility rooms were also completely remodeled. The kitchen has all new cabinets and quartz counter tops. The quartz Dante found is gorgeous. The kitchen floor and all the appliances have been replaced and the electrical and electrical fixtures have been updated. The trim work has been replaced and the walls repaired and painted. The kitchen not only has more space but looks amazing! The utility room had to be gutted from ceiling to floor, but oh is it fabulous now! Dante moved the washer onto the same wall as the dryer and built and installed a double pantry from ceiling to floor where the washer was. He installed the same cabinets and quartz counter top to match the kitchen. He has tripled the storage space in this utility room. He also replaced the old wooden entry door into the utility room with a new steel door. We did this whole house renovation in stages and it took about six months to complete, which is exactly what Dante had told us. Dante kept us informed the entire time and was in constant communication with us through the entire process. I would recommend Dante to any of my family or friends. He and his team are honest, extremely knowledgeable, punctual, hard working, courteous, respectful, straight forward, reliable and reasonable. He and his team take great pride in their work. They are also very respectful of the living space and the work areas were cleaned thoroughly at the end of each work day. I can't thank Dante and his team enough for what they did for my mother-in-law! We have some projects around our house that need to be addressed and he is the only contractor I will be calling. He has our complete trust and respect.

He offered several low-cost solutions that we could try first, rather than spending money tearing up the house. I appreciated his knowledge and general concern for our well-being. He definitely knows this business and was more interested in helping us than selling us something. I really appreciated that! I would definitely recommend EnviroGroup.

Dante responded immediately, and brought a team out the following week to inspect. He immediately found an obvious pinhole leak in copper piping directly above the one area of pooling water. The pipe was clearly corroded, and there were mineral deposits on ductwork below the pipe. This should have been blatantly obvious to the first inspector. Dante told me if I fixed the leak, my problems would be resolved. Even so, he and his team took the time to carefully inspect the entire crawlspace. At no charge, his team wiped the mold that had formed on the beams, sealed some additional cable and conduit entry holes (which were not in scope of the original job), and re-taped a couple of seams. Again, this was all done three years after the original work, and we were not charged anything for this significant effort. The leak has been fixed and the humidity and musty odors have abated. On top of that, I avoided thousands of dollars of unnecessary repairs and received an education. Mr. DeCapri stood by his work, even when he didn't have to. I highly recommend Enviro Group.

Fine.  He quickly evaluated the problem and told me that I did not need his services and referred me to a roofing expert instead.  The bathrooms are not vented correctly out of the roof, a ridge vent is needed and soffit vents need to be examined to see if they are operating effectively.  He seems to be extremely knowledgeable and he came highly recommended from another source than Angie"s List also.

He was really good. He even came out on a weekend at the last minute to do the work for us. What stood out the most was his honesty. He seemed to be forthright and honest with the things he pointed out. He was very thorough. He was the best price when we investigated. He didn’t charge us anything extra for coming at the last minute.

I hired EnviroGroup LLC to inspect and assess the residential mold remediation work performed by another local company, for a house I was planning to buy. As it turned out, hiring EnviroGroup was the best decision I could have made.
I had entered into a contract to buy a cute ranch home with a crawlspace foundation. The home inspector I had hired reported that there was a mold problem in the crawlspace. The seller agreed to have the mold problem remediated (at seller's expense) and hired a local exterminator's spinoff company to do the work. The more I learned about that company, the less comfortable I became with their ability to properly remediate the mold problem. Buyer beware: Virginia, like most states, does not regulate mold inspection or mold remediation. Make sure that anyone you hire has nationally recognized industry accreditation/certification for the type of work to be performed.
So, I decided to exercise the option in the home sale contract to bring in my own mold inspector to assess the work performed. After checking the yellow pages, Angie's List, and some other online reviews, I decided to call EnviroGroup first. Within the first 90 seconds after calling the owner, Dante DeCapri, I knew I had found the right person for this job.
During this first phone call, Dante gave me a list of information to gather and questions to ask of the seller's contractor and their plan to remediate the mold problem. Each of these questions turned out to be important in evaluating the work performed, as well as the long-term "health" of the house.
I hired Dante to come out and inspect the mold remediation work as soon as it was completed. He arrived promptly at the appointed time and was fully prepared. He started by walking me around the outside of the home, looking for potential sources of crawlspace moisture that should be eliminated as part of any proper mold remediation effort. Dante quickly determined that the rain gutters and downspouts were undersized for the large surface area of the roof of this ranch home, and backed up this finding with calculations of rain runoff rates. Additionally, he found that one downspout emptied into a drain pipe that had no discernible outlet, so it's likely that runoff was staying in the ground just inches from the house's foundation. These are two problems that my general home inspector did not identify but should have.
Then we went into the crawlspace, and within about 30 seconds Dante was able to tell me the so-called mold remediation work was done totally wrong. The EPA provides guidelines for mold remediation, as do certain industry associations. In general, the 2 major steps in mold remediation are (1) eliminating potential moisture sources that can lead to mold growth, and (2) removing existing mold spores from surfaces by scrubbing or similar means. As it turned out, the seller's contractor had done neither of these steps.
Dante showed me that there were still mold spores in numerous highly visible areas on the floor joists in the crawlspace. He explained that mold stains will persist even after the spores have been cleaned up properly, but he demonstrated that in this case you could wipe any contaminated surface and come away with plainly visible mold spores. He also pointed out that the air conditioning air handler and ventilation ductwork in the crawlspace were sure sources of condensation in the summer months and nothing had been done to limit the amount of moisture they introduce into the crawlspace.
At Dante's suggestion, I asked the seller's real estate agent to contact their mold remediation contractor for an explanation of their mold removal techniques and copies of the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) for all chemicals used. The results were nothing short of scary.
The seller's handyman had removed the insulation from between the floor joists, then the mold remediation company had come in to spray chemicals on the moldy surfaces then reinstall new floor insulation. They claimed that the chemicals they sprayed would kill the mold spores, causing them to fall off their surfaces and wind up on top of the plastic vapor barrier in the crawlspace. This practice is 180 degrees out from EPA guidelines on how to remediate mold.
Dante took the list of chemicals provided by the seller's contractor and quickly went to work researching them. By cross-matching the names and product numbers provided by the chemicals' manufacturers with industry and EPA databases, he was able to correctly surmise that the chemical used to "kill" the mold spores was actually classified as a fungistat (mold preventer) rather than a fungicide (mold killer). Furthermore, they had used a pesticide product to treat a mold problem!
Dante went one step further by researching the manufacturers' application instructions for the chemicals used in the crawlspace, and found that at least one of them should have been applied only if a negative pressure was established in the crawlspace to prevent contamination of the living spaces.
As a result of EnviroGroup's inspection findings, we cancelled the contract to buy the house, and walked away knowing that we avoided a high risk of potentially significant health problems as well as the certainty of having to spend thousands later on to remediate the mold problem properly.
Dante also showed me an actual mold inspection report and remediation plan he had just prepared for another customer. I was thoroughly impressed by the level of detail in both. They were incredibly in-depth, yet readable and understandable by the average homeowner like me. They included LOTS of photos of the condition of the space before remediation, to allow the homeowner or anyone else to see and understand exactly what was to be done, also allowing a detailed before-and-after comparison when the work was done.
If I ever have, or suspect, a mold or moisture problem in the future I will go straight to Dante DeCapri and EnviroGroup. I suggest you do the same.

Dante and his crew worked quickly and efficiently. Everything was completed within the projected time frame. Within a couple of days, we noticed a marked improvement in our indoor air quality. The price seemed a little high for the 24 person-hours and materials, but certainly not unreasonable. I would have liked communication at the end of each work day, to let us know what had happened and what was next. Overall, we are very satisfied. If I ever require similar work, they'll be at the top of the list.

As a true expert in this field, Dante was able to identify that we were provided incorrect information regarding our crawlspace condition when we purchased our home. He was detailed in his research to specifically identify how the situation had deteriorated and how the information provided to us could not have been accurate.

Dante and his crew made at least two trips to our home to fully identify the problem and outline a thorough solution. This included scrubbing the joists and subfloor to remediate the mold, removal of poorly installed and inoperable conditioned crawl space materials, then properly encapsulating the crawl space. Dante was always honest and direct about the options and costs associated with the solution. His crew were always prompt, courteous and neat. The work was performed flawlessly. Can't say enough good things, wouldn't call anyone else now.

Great. Naturally, it was a mess as they tore the Masonite off.  Dante had a huge dumpster there as well as a port-a-potty for workers.  They arrived at 7:30 - 8:00 every morning, never fail. Dante insists that there is no music, no derogatory language and dialogue is discouraged between owner and workers so there are no miscommunications.  They do not look down on you as you ask silly questions and they don't get sniffy when you question their work.  They seemed happy to educate.
