    COUGOT'S CHIMNEY SERVICE
Although it took a few weeks to get an appointment during this very busy time, good reliable companies are busy right now. But the wait was well worth it. Two professional technicians arrived, first checking the the fireplace and flue from inside the house. Right away I was told good news, it didnt need a professional cleaning at this time! Then they crawled up on the roof (in 12 degree temperature) to check the brickwork and chimney. They explained that no major repairs were necessary at this time, but they did recommend some improvements that could be done at a later date. I truly appreciated their honesty. I was quoted $120 for a cleaning, and they could have very well went through the motions and cleaned it and I never would have known. Instead, they charged me $60 for an inspection, and the peace of mind I got knowing there were no major problems and I could start burning real wood, was well worth it!

    Allstate Chimney Service
I HIGHLY recommend this company for all your chimney needs. He also did our gutters, and cleaned everything, top notch! This house, we just recently purchased, had been severely neglected for many years, and we have a long list of future "to-do's" in the spring, that we will call Allstate for. Their prices are quite fair, and their customer service is very professional and friendly. I look forward to the arrival of spring, just to have them come back out and help us with more projects!

    The Log Doctor
Service person did not have a clue how to return log set to proper configuration. Immediately have soot on all of the logs since they were not reset properly, it is falling off the logs. Next time will use a Eichler trained representive.

    Guirkin Plumbing & Heating
First employee, Phillip, did an approximate hour assessment and charged $220. I and was advised to do the repair I would have to pay a third of the cost up front. I paid. Phillip advised the total would be around $550. Ordered parts and second employee, Marty, showed up and both workers did a great job. Took about 2 hours hours and charged me an additional $550. not quite what I thought the cost was going to be in additional to original cost. Figured the price of the motor was $250, and $25 for another part. Looks like it was $150 per hour. Rated them down to a B due to cost. That said I would hire again to get cost ironed out before work. Good work again by the workers.

    Gas Log Doctor
I got a coupon out of a local magazine for a $99.00 service and cleaning of my gas log, which I really needed, since it had been a couple of years since my last service. The $99.00 couple gave me a nudge in the right direction. I set my appointment and prepared myself for a long wait but I got a nice surprise my tech got there right on time. He went right to work and did a great job with no time wasted (the last company took twice as long, mostly because they were trying to sell me a new gas log) he did the job and said my gas log was in great shape(unlike the last company trying to sell me a new one). I felt great about how fast and professional the job was done. I wish all my appointments went this well, no wasted time I still had time take care of my business!!!

Butler's Tree Service Landscaping and Firewood
No issues, Mr Butler brought helper and the pickup truck load of wood (full bed with high sidewalls) was stacked where requested in short order.  Slightly more expensive than another service we used, but they didn't stack the wood just dumped it in the grass.

    Woodfin

Terribly, to sum up. We were dealing with some very cold and bad weather which delayed things, but not to the extent that it is still delayed. We are in week 4 now of waiting for completion of a project that we were told would take 3-4 days to be completed (back in February).

The problem really seems to be communication within Woodfin and communication with us (the customer). Apparently when the original work order was filled out, part of the project was assigned to the wrong department. That department doesn't know how to do that type of work (nor would I want them to), but it apparently is too hard for Plumbing to reach out to HVAC and get them involved so we can move along, and apparently it is also too hard to call the comfort advisor that originally wrote the order and get him to correct it. The rest of the work we need done is dependent on HVAC (or whoever) coming out to do the venting for the water heater and the range.

So, while they sit around and argue over who is supposed to be doing what, I have a water heater sitting in my garage waiting to be hooked up, a microwave sitting in my dining room waiting to be hooked up, and a bunch of holes in my wall that are costing me money letting all my heat out from where they started wiring or running lines for things they couldn't finish.

We finally got our stove installed after waiting almost 2 weeks for them to come and run the electrical and piping for it, the only reason that got done was because we threw a fit at them and demanded they come out, as we had let the store haul away our old one thinking we would have a new one within 3 days. Apparently there was some issue with permits from the county that held them back, but honestly, they could have just told us that instead of leaving us for 2 weeks without any way of cooking any food, and no information about when/if they were coming back to finish. At no point did they update us on status either while this debacle was being "handled", they just showed up one day to do it without even telling us anything.

We call them multiple times a week trying to get info on when they will finish this up, always get the run around and the same answer. Even our original sales person has stopped calling us back promptly because I think he is embarrassed (I really hope he is).

The remainder of the work is something that would take 2 days at most, if they would just come out and finish it.

it's to the point where I'm thinking about getting another provider out here to finish what they started because I am so tired of playing this game.

Avoid them if you can for a large scale project, I think they will do ok for smaller, single department things, but when you are involving multiple departments, think twice, they don't have the infrastructure for that kind of nonsense.

    Hanover Chimney Sweeps
Marcel and Austin arrived promptly and set to work quickly. The whole process was quick, professional and clean, no mess at all left behind. Fireplace looks great, looking forward to using it again tonight.

    Guirkin Plumbing & Heating
Prompt, professional, quick service. Very nice gentleman came out and inspected and cleaned our gas fireplace, which I don't even know if it has ever been cleaned before (we just bought the house last year, it is a 2000). Vacuumed out everything and made the glass shine. Difference is night and day. He was also able to answer some questions I had about it. I feel much better knowing our fireplace is safe for the winter and am really looking forward to using it on those upcoming cold days. Looking forward to contacting Guirkin for some other future work. Thanks!!

    Neat Sweep
They arrived within the time frame we agreed upon and the driver installed the container where I requested.  He was neat and clean and very courteous.  I called for a pick up a week later and the very next day it was removed.
