When I ordered from your list then they showed up.  Then they called me and said your $89 includes your sewer line from the house to the street.  They charged me much more than the eighty nine dollars.  Like six hundred dollars more.  The problem is from the toilet to the street and this is not included in this eight nine dollar deal.  Then he actually charged me something like six hundred or seven hundred dollar.  He's cheating out everyone so I'm not going to use him anymore.  That makes me think that Angie's List is probably doing something wrong too.   I just remember it was a whole lot more.  It's too much that is not the normal fee charged.

    4 Service Pros
A medium sized puddle of disgusting, vile water coming up from the basement floor drain is what led me to login to Angie's List and contact 4 Service Pros.   The discovery was made at 4:00 AM on July 4, 2015 and I knew I needed help ASAP.    Greg was fantastic and awake at 4:30AM if you can believe it!!  He came out around 7:00 AM with his lead plumber, David, and went to work with his camera and hydrojet equipment.   When we got the news that the sewer pipe was rotted out I was simply stunned but it wasn't entirely surprising considering several homeowners in our neighborhood had experienced similar problems.  That first day Greg and David were here for 7 hours finding the problem, explaining it, working out the plan of attack and providing a temporary sewer fix so that we could live in the house without relocating to a hotel or going to Starbucks to poop.  Oh, did I mention we were also expecting company?  Anyway, three days later 4 Service Pros was here in full force with jackhammers to begin the week long job. David and Rick really worked their tails off everyday!!  It was hot, dirty, dusty work but they kept plugging along and they didn't leave at night before getting to a place in the job that would allow us to have water and sewer for the evening.  They were fantastic! When all the basement plumbing was finished, Mihn, reinstalled the hardwood and tile, replaced some drywall, painted and got us back in working order.  Another crew did an equally great job digging up the front yard and returning things to normal when work was done.  You would never have known they were here.  Hats off to 4 Service Pros!!!  Great team of professionals who not only know their jobs very well but also how to treat the customer:)  Just Excellent!  (Kudos too to any people on site that I forgot to mention by name!!)

    Long's Corp
It went very well. Another plumber had said snaking could not open the drain blockage. The drain line needs to be replaced and gave a huge estimate. The LONG's Corporation plumber was very professional and didn't promise if the problem will be solved just by snaking but did solve the problem with snaking! I was thrilled and very happy with their service.

    Sparkle Drain Cleaning
    AVOID.

As a Landlord with properties in the DC Metro for over 20 years, I have never been treated more rudely than today April 25th, 2015.  Larry from Sparkle Drain Cleaning came out to one of my properties in Fairfax County since my tenant noted a sewage backup.  I asked a few simple questions: 1. Can you tell me how you will explore the issue?  2. How will you fix it?  3. Do you provide a discount for Angie's List members?

As I tried to ask each question, his response was condescending and lecturing to me.  Unfortunately, Larry continued to rant in a monologue manner and then yelled at me for 'wasting' his time at asking a few questions.  He also yelled at me and complained how Angie's List wanted money.  I assume to be a listed contractor?  He wasn't specific, just ranted.  But oddly, Larry was 'grateful' of getting Angie's List referrals.  Sorry Larry, you cannot have it both ways.

Larry then threatens to walk away from the job....which I gladly let him do.  Why would you ever want a contractor to conduct work when they treat you (the client) poorly.

My worst experience ever as a Landlord (in the business for over 20 years).
    AVOID SPARKLE DRAIN CLEANING.

    ______________________________________________________________________________________

IN RESPONSE TO Sparkle's 4/26/15 comments:

Sparkle's entire account of the situation is FALSE and FABRICATED.  A simple apology from Larry would have more than sufficed since I understand sometimes folks can have a bad day; it seems the rotten attitude in dealing with people in an honest manner is company-wide.

    I REPEAT...AVOID SPARKLE DRAIN CLEANING.

    Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup
On Sunday night following Christmas sewage began flooding from a toilet into our basement.  Calls to several plumbers were futile as no one was doing emergency calls on a holiday night.  Roto-Rooter responded.  They were at our house within an hour.  They quickly stopped the back flow of sewage into the house and snaked the line to take care of the problem.  We still have a huge mess to clean up, but these guys, Sebastian and Nick, saved us thousands of dollars in additional damage.  Thanks, Roto-Rooter!

Scope: Clear Sewer Pipe of root infiltration. Condition: Cast Iron to Terra-cotta 90 degree "T" , blockage on the right hand side of the T. Issue: Could not make their pressure root turn right or their camera. Spent 4 hours trying. They assumed the terra-cotta had collapsed. Estimated $3.5k to $7k to excavate and pipe burst, depending on what the found. They would credit me $500 if I accepted. I declined. Alternate contractor found the blockage was indeed roots, not a collapsed pipe condition.

Kramer and Sons Plumbing Services Inc
Kramer and Sons were excellent!  We had a sewage backup in our basement - Yuck!  They responded within 3 hours of being called, took care of the problem, and when asked for a quote for a hot water heater, gave us an estimate which was about $150 less than their competition.  They were able to procure a hot water heater and install it all on the same day!  The plumbers, Klyle and Juan were wonderful!  They were prompt, courteous and very respectful of our property.  I'd highly recommend this company.  Could not have asked for better service!

They solved my problem but I think their charges were out of line, compared to other companies doing sewer repair work.  My advice would be to call others first.  I called 3 companies.  The second best company had much more reasonable rates, but couldn't do it in the timeframe that these guys did it.  So i ended up paying a lot to get the job done, thinking that   would get it done quickly.  It ended up taking 3 days, which is what the other com[anoies qupoted for a timeframe.

I am disgusted with myself for sticking with these guys and their inflated prices and feel I got ripped off.  The camera should have cost less than $600, perhaps $500 for the septic tank truck, and the10 hours of labor (most of it unskilled digging) should have been about $1,500.  The cost should have been less than one fourth of what I paid.

The problem: The sewer was backing up into the basement shower.

Roto Rooter spent 3 hours snaking the sewer and then another hour running a camera through it. Both were expensive. There was still paper gunk preventing the water from draining. They said that we had a "belly" under our house and gave us a $14k estimate to excavate and replace it. They also suggested "jetting", but given the bend, it probably wouldn't do much. They could call the jetting guy and would cost $850 for the first two hours. It didn't feel right.

Another plumber reviewed the Roto Rooter video and said that with all the water sitting in the sewer line it did look like a belly. He gave me an estimate for excavation  of under $10k.

All American said they could excavate, but they also had a "jetter" with them. They verified with a camera, but that there was no charge for it. The idea of tearing up the basement cement slab and living without water for several days wasn't a pleasant thought. They said they would Jet it for $750. I decided to give it a try.

All American "jetted" the paper gunk and iron flakes so that the sewer flowed cleanly. It turned out there was no belly. They actually ran the camera from the house over 200 feet out to make sure there were no additional obstructions.

They are very good. We would recommend them highly. They explained everything they were doing and why they were doing it as they were doing it. They were very honest about everything they would say. They would say that I could do certain things, but that I don’t really need to spend the money to do that. We felt that they were very honest.
