This seems to be a very odd company. When they actually do work then they high notes but they don't look at messages on Angie's list and their phone is currently ringing busy continually. They either need to fix their horrendous customer dis-service or close their shop. Angie's List needs to stop recommending this company until they get their act together.

    Virginia Outdoor Power Equipment Co
At the end of October Virginia Outdoor Power Equipment picked up a riding lawnmower and charged $70 for pickup. They were asked to check out the engine which stalls out after a few minutes of running. After several weeks, I called to see where they were with the repair. They came back with a proposal to do all kind of welding and repair work on the mower blade housing which has some damage on the front end. Two years ago it hit a stump and the blade cut the front skirt of the housing. Its been running just fine for two years after I bent the damaged spot out of the blade path. The blade is not exposed at any point. Virginia Outdoor Power Equipment wanted over $1,000 to repair the blade housing before they would even look at the engine. I told them to ignore the blade housing as that was not the problem. They removed the blade housing, including taking the drive belt off the main pulley in the rear, left it out in the rain, and couldnt find anything wrong with the engine. The blade housing is designed to be removed from the front, not the rear. They then returned the disassembled mower and lost the spring that connects the links between the blade drive assembly and the main pulley. When I told them the part was missing they sent a spring, but it was not the correct spring. They then ordered a spring from Briggs and Stratton but they ordered the wrong spring. I cannot reassemble the mower because I dont know how they removed the drive belt from the pulley, and I cannot reconnect the linkage anyway because they lost the spring. They refuse to reassemble the mower to the condition it was in when they picked it up. They claim it is unsafe due to the blade housing. Reassembling the mower does not require that they run the motor. Running the motor does not require that they engage the blade linkage, especially with missing parts. I cannot assemble it because 1 - I dont know how they took it apart in the first place and 2 - they lost a critical part. They ruined my expensive riding lawnmower, and refuse to take any responsibility.

    AJ's Mobile Repair Service
Very convenient.  One of the features I liked about the service is that he came to the house so I didn't have to haul the mower and power washer off to be repaired.  Both had been sitting for a few years, so they ended up needing to have their carburetors rebuilt, but worked great after AJ was done with them.

Well worth my driving out to Centreville from inside the beltway to deliver my snow blower. Steve was very accommodating and flexible with my schedule. The shop (shed) in the back was a clean, neat, and well laid out workspace. Steve explained what he saw needed to be done, ordered parts, replaced the broken augers and examined and cleaned up the machine. All this was done in 10 days! He gave suggestions and tips for ongoing maintenance -- using PAM or WD40 spray in the chute to keep the snow/ice from clogging, adjusting the augers as they wear down, using the right gas and oil, and cleaning up at the end of the season. The machine started up immediately (but no snow to move). Steve had appreciated the manual and extra parts that came with the snow blower since the part numbers were not on the machine itself -- advised me to hold on to that information as long as I had the machine. That saved me some money. The pricing was very fair with $80 for service and $120 for the ordered parts.
Telephone is by far the best way to contact Steve at First Look LLC. No response from the online attempt but very cordial and accommodating by phone. Will definitely go back for small machine repairs.

I knew they would pick up the mower from other reviews, though did not know it was $40 for pick up/drop off. However, I was willing to pay because the grass was way too high and I didn't want to mess my car up. They said they would call me the next day before doing any work to ensure the charges were okay, though I didn't receive a call until later in the week after they already did the work. I noticed the discrepancy, though it was not a big deal because the price was what they quoted. Also, it had been raining alot that week and I'm sure they were busy. Anyway, not a problem. Everyone was friendly and they returned it when they said they would. The guy even started it up and tested it out on the grass. The mower was the cleanest it's ever been and works greta.

They picked up the mower on time, fixed it and delivered within 2 days. I had not performed any maintenance on the mower since I purchased in 2005, so it was in pretty bad shape. It runs like new now...
