We are about to have a refresher...not because they didn't do the wonderful training, but because we need a refresher :-) We have to remember (my husband especially) that they don't need a treat every time. The training techniques are positive reinforcement and without the 'clicker' training. We did NOT want clicker training but real positive training without another item we needed in our hand. I have recommended Rudy's friends to others and they have had the same positive experience. Anne is so patient and fun to work with, as is her staff. I have had labs for over 40 years, worked with rescue groups and trainers. Anne is one of the best!

It went great! Im very happy to have the tools to manage my wonderful dogs behavior, particularly when we are taking walks. My dog was barking and lunging and pulling the leash when other dogs would come near. On leash behavior was the main reason we called Anne since I was afraid my dog would pull me off my feet. This morning we met three unfamiliar dogs walking together and my dog stayed attentive to me and sat obediently while the other dogs walked by. My dog was calm and not nervous. What a change. Anne had brought another dog so that my dog could practice in a controlled situation. We are still working on some of the behaviors using a combination of praise and food rewards in order to teach our dog, for example, to not bark at passers by when she is not on leash but is in the house or on the deck. Im convinced we have the tools and its just a matter of our following through. Im so glad I found Rudys Friends and had this training.

"This service is well worth the price, as my dog has learned so much in just 7 private sessions. The trainers also coach the pet owners, making it a team effort that pays off in the end. Anne and Kim were very professional and very caring. I would highly recommend Rudy's Friends Dog Training to anyone who plans on training their dog"

Ariana was wonderful! We were new dog owners and needed help getting off to a good start with our puppy. Ariana was professional and kind; she listened to our needs. She also incorporated the whole family into her instruction, patiently engaging our children in the lessons so that all of us would know how to continue the good work that we began under her tutelage. One year later, we called on Ariana again to help. Our puppy was thriving, but a new problem had surfaced; our dog was having a few (too many) accidents. Once again, Arianas calm manner and clear instruction did the trick. She correctly diagnosed the problem and proposed a plan for changing the behavior. She worked with all of us to ensure that we were consistent in carrying out the training. And once again, it was successful! We can't recommend Ariana highly enough.

Instructors were very fun, and teaching rewards method for training.   Fun class, and provided excellent training as we learned a lot.  I would be very interested in continuing training there as a next step for my puppy, since I think the basic training may not be sufficient and will need to move on.

Anne did a fantastic job. Gracie is a 19 month old very energetic lab who basically had no self control. After 4 sessions with Anne, Gracie is a new dog and a joy to take places. I now have all the tools and knowledge to continue to help her be the great dog I knew she was capable of being.

We've had Chelsea for 8 months, and she is a wonderful dog. I've had other greyhounds before as well, and so am familiar with the breed. However, some of the issues we were having were: 1. Chelsea being afraid of kids 2. occasional growling at my husband 3. waking us up in the middle of the night even though she doesn't need to eliminate.
I am 8 months pregnant, and wanted to deal with these issues as soon as possible. So I found David on Angie's List, and he was able to come earlier than originally expected because of a cancellation.
The visit was 3 hours, and for about the first hour, he talked with my husband and me about pack leader/follower mentality. I am familiar with Cesar Milan's work in that area, but I knew there was still much to learn and so appreciated a professional coming to the house to give us a more thorough lesson and fill in the gaps, especially in our particular case. He helped us understand that our attitudes and behaviors had everything to do with the way Chelsea was sometimes acting. Even though she's a shy dog, she has also been assuming the role of pack leader during the times we were not doing our duty (this is bad!).
This might sound too theoretical, so let me give some examples...
    1. He taught us how to walk her (and our other dog, who doesn't have these issues) on a leash with her head at our side, not leading us from the front. Instead, we were to lead HER and make the decision whether, where and when she gets to sniff. This establishes both of our roles as pack leader.
    2. Rewards/currency (food) is very important in terms of offering dogs an additional incentive to do what we want.
    3. Chelsea felt the need to guard the house, which is why she insisted on sleeping in different rooms and moving throughout the night, then waking us up too early. David suggested that we only let her sleep in one room in order to take away her perceived "responsibility" and since then, she has been sleeping in until I wake her up.
    4. Using a special collar at the top of the neck helps keep control during walks AND inside, where also keeping a short leash on her allows us to give painless corrections when she does an undesirable behavior.
There's plenty more, but I'll stop here. So these might seem like some easy solutions (they are) but without David, it might have taken me several months or longer to stumble upon them.
I really appreciated his attention and focus throughout the session. His manner with Chelsea was very gentle, and she obviously responded well to him. His techniques were easy to replicate, and I also appreciate the follow up, including his e-book and videos.

    K-9 DIVINE
We rescued an older puppy this winter. Although she was ok at a few basic commands we needed a lot of help with leash walking and overall basic training (particularly because of her size and strength) so we sent her to K-9 Divine for a week. When I spoke to Rachel, she was honest in explaining that because of our dog's primary breed, the issues we were having wouldn't be fully resolved during and quot;boot camp, and quot; but she would be able to make progress and get us on the right track. And that is exactly what Rachel did. I was impressed with how much progress she was able to make in that amount of time. We weren't able to schedule our follow-up session with Rachel right away (which is included in the price), but she provided us with detailed training instructions to help us out before our training session. I have already recommended her to friends. I really appreciated her setting realistic expectations and she was flexible with scheduling. I was hesitant because of the price and I was worried all the bad habits would reappear once our dog came home, but I think it was money well spent. We still have some work to do, but our dog made a lot of progress during boot camp, and we are having a lot of fun reinforcing at home what she learned while at K-9 Divine.

After a few weeks of working with our puppy at home, we have seen so much progress. Our training session with Rachel was very helpful, and walking our puppy has become so much easier and she is doing really well with other commands as well. Rachel did a great job with our dog (and in training us).

    K-9 DIVINE
She is a miracle worker. First she came over for a single training session. Then, she took both my dogs (puppy and 3 y.o) for an entire week of training. The puppy came back a "new" dog -- no longer barking like a maniac and driving me crazy. Since then, she takes them when we go away. They come back much calmer.
