    Independence Landscape & Lawn Care
Mark Haller their lead man is extremely professional, knowledgeable and helpful. They installed French drains and a paver stone curved walkway with a front step. Paco, their foreman, is excellent and their is crew courteous, hardworking, and efficient. Their prices are in the median/competitive range. You will definitely receive excellent value and excellent return for what you pay for without being gauged. We have had absolute confidence in their ability to listen, offer solutions, explain most pro’s & con’s, execute good work, meet deadlines, along with trust worthiness and solid knowledgeability. Highly recommend! For more detail on the two jobs they did for us, read more below about these two project experiences and results. :) 1) French drain installation We trusted them to install a French drain system which we had not realized we needed - at least not until we met with Mark for initial lawn care estimates. Since the drains were installed last Spring (2019), the lawn is lush, thriving and beautiful. If we had gone with either of the two other companies’ lawn assessments, we would have invested in a continued mud pond and no return. 2) Paver Stone walkway The stone walkway installation is beautifully done. We receive compliments from neighbors and family. We give them Mark’s name each time. We are very happy with the workmanship. My only suggestion is that Mark mention ahead to his clients that colored concrete pavers leach calcium giving it a chalky color for 6 months to a year. It was very disappointing - heart sinking for me to see it happening almost immediately after the pavers were laid. The process is called efflorescence. I needed to look it up to figure out the cause. You need to wait a year and then you can safely power wash out the calcium and seal the stones into the intended rich colors. I followed up and Mark was helpful and confirmed it was efflorescence. He said customers ask about the chalkiness all the time. I do not feel that the omission is purposeful, but it may be an assumption that I’d know or that the stone company would mention it. I recommended Mark tell clients at the onset before they visit the stone store. Concrete pavers are less expensive, but I may have invested in a different kind of paver knowing that issue ahead. I was not given an opportunity to make that decision. Alas, the stones will get treated by us this October and hopefully I see the rich colors that for now, only show after a rainfall. I will update this review when we treat the pavers.

    Marks-Woods Construction Services, LLC
Marks-Woods Construction just finished a multi-part project on our home including a full kitchen remodel, adding a full bath and storage area to our basement, a mudroom addition and a portico. The design process at the beginning helped to expand on our initial ideas and Danielle was great at offering suggestions that we never would have thought of. This step saved us time and helped us avoid regrets we would have had without having Danielle's expertise. Greg did a nice job working though the architectural details and permitting. Our project manager was Drew and he was great to work with throughout the entire process. We had an issue with our backslash and he worked with the supplier to replace it with something more in line with our expectations. Despite a variety of projects, we had a consistent crew with dependable, courteous workers who always created a great end product and kept work areas clean. We wouldn't hesitate to use them again for future renovations.

Professional, knowledgeable person conducted inspection of work to be done and presented a realistic, no games, offer. While not the least cost of the proposals received, we appreciated the honesty. The work was done on schedule, very professional, super cautious with dust and protection of house, and minimum disruption. No change orders required. Work was completed in two days. Very happy with work and professional quality of company and its employees.

It went extremely well. Total project took just 2 days to complete. Mr. Ronald Coleman was very thorough and explained everything to me in his initial visit. He monitored the work being performed, visiting multiple times each day, to make sure the work met his expectations. I really appreciated that. The crew that actually did the work was great, prompt, professional and cleaned up everything before they left. A very quality job was done.

    NV Waterproofing & Foundation Repair
Could not have gone better. I needed to educate myself about preventing my basement from ever flooding so I took the time to receive 4 bids. NV clearly found the best path forward without suggesting I perform thousands of $$$ in unnecessary work breaking up my basement. Lately, I have had many different kinds of contractors at my home. The team at NV was by far one of the most cordial, professional and reassuring that I have met with. I even called the owner of NV to tell him how much I appreciated the work. The team actually found a way to save me some moment off the original quote by using some of my existing infrastructure. Let me be clear, installing a new sump pump is tough work and can be very messy. After the team left you would not have known they were there. Very impressive. I would recommend NV to anyone who may be concerned about their basement. Top tier service and professionalism across the board.

    The Pipe Doctor Plumbing Service
The problems were strange and required some investigation. The team first focused on the washer drainage. Eventually they used a camera inserted into the clearance pipe to check the drainage pipe from the house to the septic tank. They discovered a "dip" in the pipe, possibly resulting in an obstruction that might have caused the water to back up, kind of like a rock in a stream. (Admittedly, I may not describe this as clearly as I should...not a plumber!). Using shovels and an excavator, they dug about 5 feet into the ground between the house and the septic tank, ultimately discovering both the dip/weakening in the pipe and a 3" crack (almost half of the pipe) closer to the house. I feel like their work saved us much more money down the road, because without investigating/fixing the "dip" in the pipe, we would never have know about that crack. Without repair, it could would likely have begun leaking back into the foundation. The team was able to replace a 10' section of pipe, connect it to the septic, and confirm a steady drain of water. We have not had the backup or any drainage issues since. However, the smell didn't completely leave the laundry room. They came out again and, after a couple of smoke tests and cuts into the drywall, discovered a vent pipe that had in years past (we've owned the house for 5 years) simply been cut to move the washing machine hookups to the side wall (rather than the back). Although the smoke largely discharged through the roof vents as designed, this uncapped vent allowed septic odors to creep back into the washing room, particularly in the morning when the air outside was heavier. They were able to cap the pipe, and that removed the odor. We have not had any issues since they completed their work. The team was very responsive, and worked with me to reschedule the washing room work after a death in one of the worker's family...only slipped a single day. They also reduced the cost for disconnecting/moving the washer and dryer, since they didn't reconnect them (We were of course going to have to do get drywall repair/paint work after they finished). Although I am hoping to avoid any plumber issues for a while, I know who I will call if something comes up. Absolutely recommend this team.
