    Firebelly Renovations, LLC
Firebelly Renovations began work in our home in January of 2018 for substantial restructuring of our master bath, kitchen, and creation of a mudroom/pantry that took space from the garage and extended the kitchen. The contract stipulated that it would take 60 calendar days. Our expectations were for the project to be completed in April, at the latest, given change orders and construction delays. Firebelly did not complete their work until November, 2018 -- TEN MONTHS LATER!! We ended up hiring a third- party contractor to complete remaining punch list items, as we had difficulty getting Firebelly to return. While we have a kitchen and bathroom that is substantially complete and we are now enjoying, getting to this point was a huge life disruption that took nearly a year. As the months dragged on, we observed questionable commitment to the work product, unreliable business practices, and poor project management. Examples follow: QUESTIONABLE COMMITMENT TO QUALITY WORK -The new flexible vent pipe they installed through the roof for our new dryer was so flawed in design and installation that it collapsed creating a water trap for the humid air (see photo). -Firebelly installed closet doors that block the full use of our new Elfa closet system. Drawers will not fully open (see photo). -In several areas, new walls are not straight, corners deviate from 90 degrees requiring modification to shelving that will be installed in the space, and drywall compound/tape and paint were applied in a sloppy manner (see photos). -Caulking in the kitchen and bathroom has already cracked (less than six months), the toilet has leaked, the shower has leaked, the vessel sinks in the bathroom are not securely fastened in place, the bathroom live-edge vanities have started to sag and need to be re-supported to their installed level (see photo). UNRELIABLE BUSINESS PRACTICES -Firebelly failed to pay a subcontractor plumber, resulting in a lien being placed on our home. We have requested paperwork to settle the matter with the plumber, but Firebelly has not provided it. -Change orders were started and sometimes completed prior to receiving our written approval, a contract stipulation. -They often cut short their 8am to 4pm work day. There were instances of Firebelly excusing themselves from our project for an entire week, giving reasons that did not sound credible. They lied to us about a family vacation in July (that delayed our project another week). We later found out that this was really an excuse for the owner to work on other projects. POOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT -Firebelly made numerous miscalculations on the quantity of product needed. For example, bathroom floor tiling required three separate trips to the store, each time to order more based upon their calculations. Yet, when we returned in August from an overseas trip, we were informed that the tile design was not completed as planned as they did not have enough tile!! -Based on their calculations, we over purchased special-order tile and could not return it, costing us over $200. Another tile store had to make an exception to their return policy because we had exceeded their six-month limit for returns - otherwise, this would have cost us several hundred dollars. -Items, such as kitchen appliances, cabinets, tile, etc., were ordered so they would be available when needed and sat in our living room and garage for months until Firebelly made enough progress to install them. -Subcontractors were hired only as the project proceeded, introducing delays and resulting in variations in cost. Many more frustrations and observations could be listed. This was an ordeal that overtook our lives for the better part of year. We began to wonder if Firebelly had ever done a job of this size before as they did not appear to have the staff or the systems in place to address the challenges of this job. We would not recommend Firebelly for any substantial home renovation.

    Blue Water Contractors LLC
Freddy Ramirez and his crew are patient, hard working and reliable. They came on time and stuck with the job despite some frustrations from working in a very old apartment building with thick walls and complicated moulding requirements. Freddy was creative in finding solutions to matching old moulding and doors. They put in a full days work each time they came and they almost always came when they said they would. They were patient and accomodating with my requests and suggestions. I am very pleased with the results. Everything works and is according to plan.

    Basement Remodeling Company
I hired Basement Masters after interviewing multiple contractors for my project. From the moment I engaged with the owner (Pavel), I knew my search was over. His extreme organization, presentation and level of detail far exceeded my expectations. It was clear he understood his craft and customers' needs. I had a comprehensive written proposal complete with options, schedule and payment plans within a couple hours. This impressive responsiveness didn't end with the owner. The customer care and quality of service extended to the entire team of employees and subcontractors. All work was done on time with great care and professionalism. I was kept well-informed of all tasks throughout the project to include which subcontractors would be in my home on any given day. I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience or the outcome of the project. I can't recommend this company strongly enough!

    Brush Strokes Fine Art LLC
My daughter inherited a rare Barbara Hepworth print that is contained in several museum collections and is quite valuable. But my mother had framed it rather cheaply 40 years ago. So we wanted to have it reframed with an acid-free mat, museum quality glass and wood frame.
Our regular framer had retired and so we found Anabela Ferguson on Angie's List. She came to our home with many different mat and framing options, as well as excellent suggestions. She gave us an Angie's List discount. Within a week, she had expertly framed the print. We were quite happy with her service and responsiveness.

    FrameMasters
This is actually the second job that FrameMasters has done for me.  The first job, done in June 2013, at a cost of $200, involved framing a certificate and accompanying medal.  We were limited by wall space, so it had to be small enough to fit the space without crowding the contents.  They did a perfect job with mat color and the frame is so perfectly cut and joined, you'd think it was one continuous piece of wood!  The frame restoration job was a little different.  FrameMasters does not do the restoration themselves.  They sub it out to a restoration expert.  My mother had been told years ago NOT to have the frame repaired because it would damage its value.  Not so.  Although there was a considerable delay due to illness of the restorer, the wait was worth it.  You cannot tell the frame was ever damaged!  She made a perfect repair, a perfect match of the base color, and perfect match of the gold accent.  FrameMasters is a fairly small shop in an industrial area that has an extensive selection of frame choices.  All varieties of woods and various other components from traditional to contemporary.  You can choose from an extensive color selection and even an extensive range of prices.  You will get excellent advice on how to properly frame whatever your project requires.  They also have bins of ready-made frames in a wide selection of styles at bargain prices.  FrameMasters has been in business a long time and I'm just disappointed I didn't know about them sooner.  I will never take my framing to anyone else.  In fact, I am in need of a custom-made mirror for my powder room and FrameMasters is doing that job, too.

    FrameMasters
Shop always does a beautiful job. They have a wide selection of frames and I have found them to be better priced than other frame shops. When I am there, there are often artists getting a large number of works framed.

    Rigadom LLC
This is my third renovation with Rigadom. Timofey and his team have done an exceptional job with the previous renovations that we have decided to have another major addition for our growing family. The team was very accommodating and responsive to our family needs, as always. We completed the renovation within our budget; however, we were a few months behind our schedule due to bad weather. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. I would contact Rigadom again for any design and build project in the future.

    McLean Home Improvement LLC
Lester responded to my telephone request for a quote right away. He came the next day to give the quote. He was prompt and professional. He offered good suggestions for how to do the things we had in mind. He got us the quote within several days and scheduled the work for the next week. The men who did the work were also very professional. They got the work done in a timely manner with great attention to detail. When the guys pulled up our linoleum floor and the subfloor was not in good shape Lester was very thorough in his approach to fixing it and the end result was very solid. When we asked if Lester and his guys could come back to paint he was able to accommodate our schedule and the work was again first rate. The men were also very good about cleaning up when they were done. I would recommend McLean Home Improvement without reservation.

    Kepler Framing
The master framer is really good and helped me choose an appropriate frame. He gave me good advice on what would go well and what won't. The work that he did was superb. I am satisfied with his services and would recommend him to other people. He does framing in the basement and gets lots of business through word of mouth. He did a wonderful job and I wouldn't go to anyone else if there is a job in the future.
