I can't say enough about ARS and highly recommend! We had some complicated mold and water issues in our new older home and we didn't realize the extent of until we had already purchased. It was a huge job that encompassed almost every room on the ground floor of our house. The repair was even more tricky because mold and chemicals make me very sick, so the remediation needed to be perfect and the repairs had to be nontoxic. From our first appointment, through a hundred plus phone calls/texts, and meetings, to follow-up, Shaun has been an outstanding partner in this process! I am very sure we couldn't have done it without him. He couples an incredible amount of knowledge about every aspect of the home with creativity and receptivity to new ideas (or requirements). He listens carefully to the customer's needs and concerns and ensures that their needs/goals are met. He is a perfectionist by nature and it always looking for ways to do things better. He is honest about pricing and helpful when it comes to discussing priorities to help me meet my budget. He has a can-do attitude and a laid back style that was such a asset in the middle of a difficult and stressful situation. Decision after decision, we found that we could trust Shaun to look out for us and give us excellent, honest advice. His team is super friendly, trust-worthy, and hard-working. All good people. I'm very happy to say that the mold remediation was 100% successful - no bad reactions any more. And everything that was removed (interior walls, studs, baseboards, trim, insulation, sheathing, wrap, siding, header, gutters) was put back just as it was or better than before. ARS are my go-to for any future issues.

    Radon Experts of VA LLC
I called Rodolfo on a Friday because my radon mitigation system (installed by a different company) was in need of repair. He was able to come by the next day, on Saturday morning, and quickly identified the problem and was able to fix it.

    The Flood Masters LLC
Excellent. The crew working with Flood Masters is knowledgeable in every aspect of construction. From plumbing, framing and electrical to fine carpentry and painting. They remodeled our whole basement and then returned to remodel our first floor. The owner of the company, Gustavo Vegas, is ever present, gives excellent advice and listens carefully to the needs of the homwowner. He is outstanding.

    Radon Abatement Services
The team was outstanding. They arrived in the morning and identified the best possible options to route the vent pipe. Since the best option was also the most labor-intensive, they made heroic efforts to dig ~6 feet deep from the exterior of the home to access out crawlspace from the corner of the house. This resulted in them taking much longer than expected at our house -- with an outstanding result.

    Valor Mold Removal
My first consultation with the company was very professional and the explanation of the job was great. After the proposal was submitted and a appointment was made, the team came in with all of there equipment ready to get the job done. All precautions were taken to keep the mold within the area of the job. I was then told to leave. When the job was completed I walked into the garage and was totally amazed at how clean everything was and the smell of mold was gone.

    Mold Pro Inc
Horrible. NOT recommended. He missed appointments, and was 2 hours late when he finally did show up. Then he did an incomplete job, and left mold behind just a foot or two from where he was "working." Don't waste your time or money on Glen Decker.

    Valor Mold Removal
I can state without exaggeration, that hiring Valor was one of the most important decisions I've ever made vis a vis hiring a professional services company. Why? It turns out that my basement has been infested with mold, and the reason I've been having increasingly inexplicable and difficult to treat health issues over the past several years. We are forever grateful to Valor for its honesty, professionalism, heart (yes, businesses can have heart), and above all, a respect for the highest standards it brought to our mold remediation.  It scares me to think how close we were to engaging a crackpot service, spending tons of money, and ultimately, not remediating the mold.  I will not bother to delineate the ways in which that company (listed here on Angie's List and not even licensed to work in Virginia where I live...not that they shared that with me) was dishonest and unethical, but enough to say that Valor was the mirror image.  The confidence and appreciation for the company started with Lois--who epitomizes polish and meticulous customer service as the administrative head and first point of contact for the company--and David, the public face and anchoring force of Valor. He exudes honesty, calm, a deep knowledge of his profession, and decency. In our case, he was adamant that we needed top-notch pre and post testing from a 3d party tester specialized in dealing with complex health issues as had occurred with us. You've got to love a mold remediation company that insists on subjecting itself to high grade testing! David walked us through the work and methodology and it was of the highest standards. We are now completely mold free. Hurrah! I will also add that the team that worked here at the house (Donnie, Joey and Kristyn) were equally professional and delightful to deal with. I cannot recommend Valor highly enough. They are in a class of their own. Final word (or warning) to all of you considering a mold remediation expert: this is absolutely not something you want to scrimp on and go with the lowest priced provider. There is a reason that Valor is more expensive than most of their competitors. You're paying for the Gold standard.

    ATLAS Home Inspection
Amazingly well.  Ed Snope did a comprehensive home inspection on a single family house that my wife and I intended to purchase.  We knew ahead of time that the house was being flipped, that the current owner had only owned the home for about 3 months and was doing considerable work on the house.  We knew there would be issues with the house, including grading and water drainage issues and some HVAC issues.  However, Ed found numerous other issues, some that the seller's home inspector missed.  The seller of the house provided his inspection report that was completed just three months prior and Ed's report was substantially more detailed, comprehensive, better written and caught many more issues.  Ed was professional:  He answered all of my numerous questions; He was extremely patient; He took the time to explain things to me (I was present for the inspection); He gave advice too such as what type of caulking to use, what type of weather-stripping, paint, etc... while we went through the house.  He invited me up on the roof with him (I declined) and up in the attic (I accepted, and I'm glad I did) where he showed me improper and inadequate insulation, pointed out potential issues with HVAC registers and recessed lighting that wasn't IC approved.  He showed me how some of the wiring on the newly installed electrical panel was incorrect.  I have a very basic knowledge of electrical issues, and Ed explained them to me at a level where I could appreciate and understand how the panel was done incorrectly in areas.  Ed found many issues with the HVAC system--it had rust on the ducts, improper sealant through the floors, etc.  How newly added returns and ducts in the basement may have improperly balanced the system.  There was barely any airflow coming out of the registers on the upper floors.  He found numerous grading issues outside of the house, along with potential water infiltration points where the bricks were missing mortar, where the lintel above the windows was improperly caulked.  How the downspout extensions were improperly graded away from the house.  How the HVAC system used older refrigerant.  Also, Ed tested every single electrical outlet in the house.  Many were bad, painted over, etc.  He found mold in the washing machine and in a few basement closets.  The previous inspection didn't find any mold.  The house had its previous bathrooms and kitchens gutted and new cabinets, tile, and counter-tops installed.  Ed found cabinets and drawers installed poorly (out of level or plump), incorrect exhaust vents, no caulking, and a shower head and diverter installed incorrectly.  All things I would have assumed were done correctly, because they were newly installed.  All in all, Ed found many, many issues with this house that I never expected, didn't see through my multiple previous visits, and the previous inspection missed.
Ed spend well over four hours at the house conducting the inspection.  He arrived early, too.  What's even more impressive is that he emailed to me a comprehensive, well-written, detailed report the very next day, less than 24 hours after finishing the walk-through.  The report was 50 pages.  It had multiple pictures with red arrows highlighting issues.  It was easy to read, well-organized and broken down into several categories: Major concerns (in red), minor concerns (in blue), FYI (information), OK (in lighter blue) and safety hazards (in yellow).
Ultimately, because of Ed's amazing inspection and thorough report, my wife and I decided not to buy the house.  Although we were disappointed because the house was in a great location, near great schools and came with a membership to the pool just a few minutes away, we knew that it was the right decision.
I will definitely hire Ed again when we find another house.  He was top notch.  A+.
Oh, and one other thing.  At the end of the inspection, I inquired about a radon test, and paid Ed to come back to do the test; however, once I got home, I told Ed to hold off on the radon test, and ultimately cancelled it once we declined on the house.  Ed, without asking, sent me a check back, within days, for the portion covering the radon test.  That's called professionalism.
Thanks again, Ed, for giving me the guidance to make an informed decision.

They were professional. They came and they basically delivered bad news which was they could not do mold remediation because my sheeting on the roof is something called OMB board. He said, if we attempted it, it will get it off but that board is so porous that the likelihood that it would return is pretty significant. He said, we won't do it. You might find another company that will but we won't. And so, at that point he said you need to get ahold of your roofer. I don't know what your warranty is like or whatever. But, we did end up having them come back and work with the roofing company. I ended up having to take the roof off all the way down to the studs. The mold remediation guys were here to do mold remediation on the studs.
It all worked. I will tell you it was the most stressful thing. And it was done in February so it is cold or it's rainy. They did a good job on the mold remediation. I go up in the attic and I look and I have never seen a re-occurrence of the mold. They also took out the old insulation. The potential was that it was also contaminated. And when the roof was done they put in new insulation.
My guess is they are a little bit on the expensive side but for the quality of work and everything else, I don't mind.

Depending on code violations or just "best practice"The senior inspector (Brian K) arrived on time and did a very thorough inspection. We contracted with him because our new house (still under construction) suffered some water damage in the lower level because the builder had failed to prevent water from entering the home. The builder did not take immediate action so we needed an expert opinion.
Brian spent several hours going over the house with a fine toothed comb and identified several items that we were unaware of. The following day Brian sent us a comprehensive report with photographs depicting the problem areas and a summary of recommended or required remediation actions referencing code violations or accepted industry best practices.
The builder took action following receipt of the report. We believe that Brian's report was the catalyst in getting the builder to take notice of the seriousness of the problem and mitigate damage.
