    Mushtaq, Dr. Ednan
I called Never received a follow-up phone call the following day. Called the Reston hospital's x-ray receptionist to see if an order had been received. No go. Then I called Dr. Mushtaq's office, again (now it is the Friday morning before a long holiday) so ask what was going on, and the office (i.e., Claudia) NOW tells me that I must pick-up the paperwork, that they won't fax it ! I am so finished with this office. Horrible support staff ! I rate them high for punctuality because the doctors are usually within five minutes before seeing a patient.

I walked into see this Doctor with normal sinus function and complaining only of tinnitus and TMJ and
referral for eval for acoustic neuroma. Although my MRI showed no acoustic neuroma and that should have been the end of the treatment, this doc proceeded to review the MRI and noted what he said was sinus congestion and sinusitus in the
left sinus that he said could be contributing to my tinnitus, and then recommended a procedure called balloon sinuplasty (which happened to be advertising on a scrolling monitor in each office).  I asked about the procedure and he said it very simple, safe and effective and that his patients have had great results.  I explained that I never had sinus infections or sinus
issues other than allergies, but he said that it is a good procedure to promote better drainage and that it could help with the tinnitus.  I should have walked away at that point but he seemed sincere and gave me brochures on the procedure. He said patients return to work in 24 hours and only have 2-3 weeks until they feel great. Unfortunately, I fell for this doctor and before really investigating him and the procedure, scheduled to have the procedure done.  That one bad decision has seriously impacted my health and quality of life and resulted in now 5 months of pain and suffering.
This man failed and refused to take time to walk me the procedure in advance of him sedating me - he simply said he would not recommend it if he did not think it would help me. The nurse never reviewed anything with me in advance but rushed me to sign all the paperwork and take the drugs so I would be ready when the doctor arrived - which he arrived over 40 minutes late.
That should have been a red flag and I regret not walking away at that point.  He never informed me of any risks, he did not tell me that he had scheduled me for sinuplasty to all sinuses when I thought we were only doing one on the left. He never he never reviewed my MRI to prepare for the procedure and was completely unprepared, doing the procedure blind.  When he had
difficulty with the right sinus - which I never expected to be touched, and I expressed discomfort, rather than stop, he forced more anesthesia in the area and continued with the procedure. Post op was a disaster, with pain and swelling and ultimately turning into a terrible neuralgia around my right eye and nose, migraine, nausea and complete debilitation caused by damage he
created during the procedure.  I sought a second and third opinion from well regarded ENTs in Virginia to eval what could have occurred.  They both said that this procedure was not appropriate or warranted and it certainly is not used to help tinnitus. They said it typically is a very safe procedure for chronic sinus infections but done only after all medical options have been tried. Dr Prasad NEVER SAID ANY OF THIS TO ME.  he had never seen me before the visit for getting an MRI.  When I informed him of the serious pain and problems I was having post op, after never having ANY sinus issues or pain before seeing him, he claimed it was probably a blockage because I did not irrigate enough - taking no responsibility for his actionss even when I queried him as to why he recommended  this procedure.
To net it out - this Doctor recommended and performed a completely inappropriate, medically unnecessary and damaging procedure  to a woman who had normal sinuses but suffered from terrible Tinnitus. Now I have a more painful situation that may not have a solution - changing my life for the worse.  This doctor is abusing this procedure because he can sell it, do
it in 3--40 minutes and charge an enormous amount.  DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN.  SEEK OUT ANOTHER DOCTOR AND GET ANOTHER OPINION.

Fairfax ENT & Facial Plastic Surgery
We have been pleased with the service provided and the doctors at Fairfax ENT. Dr. Tobey performed surgery and the scheduling, preparatory instructions, and follow-up all were good. We have had audiology testing there as well for two children and that went well, too. As a side note, the kinetic sculpture in the Fairfax City office is the coolest waiting room decor ever.

    Otolaryngology Associates Pc
Thorough examination and then detailed explanation/discussion of possible solutiions to problem. Trying non-invasive treatment and drugs before weighing in on surgery. Will know more when daughter is back from school and if want to pursue further treatment over the summer.
