Plumber reviews in Marshall

This is the 1st online review I've ever written but Appleton Campbell's service was so bad, I feel obligated to write this. They sent two plumbers - one watched the other one work. He inspected both units and advised we would need to replace the entire sink faucet and the bathtub spout. We were charged the standard trip fee for the plumbers to look at everything and then $467 to order the replacement parts. 30 minutes after they left, I called the main office and asked them to cancel the order for parts because I would be buying them myself. I was told they would cancel the order and credit my acct back the $467. A few days later, I received a call that the parts had been received by Appleton Campbell. I again reminded them of my prior request to cancel the order. They apologized and said they would send the parts back and credit my acct back. 2 weeks later, I called back to check on the cancelled order because nothing had been credited back to me. I was advised that the Billing Dept had just submitted it the day before. I asked why it wasn't submitted immediately (2weeks ago when I cancelled the order) and she could not provide an explanation. I was promised that I would be reimbursed within 2 weeks. I argued it should not take that long and was still given no explanation. It is now over a month later and I still have not received my payment back. Appleton Campbell has stolen $467 from me and I have no idea if/when I will ever get it back! I ended up buying the parts myself for a total of $70 and had a handyman/plummer install them for $100. Appleton Campbell's prices are insane and their billing dept/customer service is even worse. Stay away from this company!

MRC broke my faucet, over-charged and is non-responsive. After being a customer of MRC for over a ten years and having spent well over $5,000 dollars doing business with them from service calls to major projects, I am stunned at the business’s downfall. A week before Christmas, I had MRC install a kitchen faucet and to repair a faucet in the bathroom. I also asked to get an estimate for a gas line. A plumber installed the kitchen faucet and took a look at the bathroom faucet. He didn’t have the parts for the latter and would have to return another day. He said that the billing would be treated as continuous when they returned. He looked at the proposed gas line project and stated that I would get an estimate. Weeks passed. Approximately a month later I called to find out what had happened to the bathroom faucet as I was still waiting to have it fixed. MRC had forgotten. A second and different plumber showed up and ended up breaking part of the bathroom faucet. He apologized and said that MRC would order that part and fix the faucet. I also told him that I never hear back from MRC regarding the gas line project. I again took a fair amount of time out of my day and discussed the project. I paid the bill and was overcharged as they charged me as though it was an initial call and not a continuation. Another promise to get me an estimate was given. But another month passed and my bathroom faucet was still broken by their first laborer and they had not been hear of. After two months I called asking for the owner – Mike. Days went by and he didn’t return my call. After additional calls, I finally spoke to him at great length and told him that my faucet was still broken, that I was overcharged and that I never received an estimate. Mike told me that he had fired the first laborer (they guy looked pretty rough and gritty and that’s per 25 years in law-enforcement) and that he would have things fixed and would get me an estimate. Weeks have passed and my faucet is still broken due to their plumber’s error. Months of my time has been wasted and I was overcharged. It’s sad that they will treat a very long term customer with such recklessness and disregard. How do you think they will treat you?

Perfectly! Mark was thorough, professional and efficient. He listened, made great suggestions and left us with new lighting in our workshop and storage area. He replaced outlets and switches, made a change to bring the laundry room up to code, and replaced exterior GFIs. I also use Furr for HVAC and for pluming work and have been very satisfied.

Health Department inspector commented on the high quality of the work. He said that he often sees little plastic distribution boxes, and was impressed that the company still used the long-lasting cement box. We had a different company come out and pump the septic tank during the two-week period between the original inspection, the installation of the new D box, and the final inspection by the Health Department. The other company that saw the word being done, said "Oh, we could have patched the crumbling cement in the old D box, and it would cost a lot less."  I knew at that moment that I made the right decision to hire Shenandoah Septic, because they were doing the work the correct way. We are selling our house at the end of the month and I feel happy that the new owner will have a sound system for years to come.

I was provided Chuck Mullins information from a neighbor and called him in the evening.  He quickly answered and said he would have someone in the office call me back to set up an appointment as he was driving.  Minutes later the office called and set up my appointment for the next day!  Plumber showed up on time and was very willing to answer all my questions.  He quickly fixed the leaking fitting that had been recently replaced.  It only took about an hour.  Cost was very reasonable and responsiveness was excellent.  Chuck Mullins Plumbing will be my go to plumbing company going forward!

By the end of the day on that Sunday before Thanksgiving, 2014 we had water and refrigeration and were able to shower, prepare for guests, clean and cook.  Crisis averted.  It is important to note that this provider helped us when a long term provider did not return our calls over the weekend.  We have subsequently recommended this provider to an elderly acquaintance in crisis and he successfully helped her as well  We later had a problem with an icemaker and he went beyond a role as plumber and researched many aspects of the potential problem.  This young man will not let you down.

My home has a very narrow crawl space.  Before I moved to the house, a plumber had installed an acid neutralizer and connected it in such a way that only part of the house's water system was treated.  To make things right, someone had to crawl under the house (very tight space) and re-route a pipe.  The companies I called, had suggested certain "work-arounds" to avoid doing this, all of which had certain disadvantages for me.  Stilwell quoted me a price to do the job correctly, which involved a lot of work on their part, but the price was not much more than that given me by the other companies for the ''work-arounds".  I certainly got my money's worth and am happy (so far!) with the result.

I think we found out plumber.
My husband and I were on a ski trip out of town when our renters called to tell us they had no hot water.  The original company we called (whom we have worked with before) came out and said the water heater needed to be replaced and that it was "shot".  They gave us an estimate of $1,800 which seemed a little steep to us so we called around for estimates.  One place gave us a price of $1400 then we happened upon Brandon on Angie's List.
He quoted us a price of $1,100 but also went out and gave us a second opinion on whether or not it could be repaired before we made the final decision.   We decided to go with him, partly because of the price, but mostly because we prefer dealing closely with the owner of a contracting business.  As a rule, we have received far better prices and service dealing with owners.
Here's where it gets good.  The heater to be replaced is up two flights of stairs, the last one having a couple tight turns.  When Brandon got there and saw it, he told us the original $1,800 quote was not that ridiculous given the extra man power necessary.  however, because he had already quoted us the $1,100 we settled on a price of $1,200.  He installed it the next day with absolutely zero drama.
It's difficult to find people who are as good the words that come out of their mouths, but Brandon is definitely one of them.  He is the kind of contractor you hope you can find, and he has earned a loyal customer.  We will be calling him first for future projects.

I returned home to find water running out of the front of my house under the kitchen window.  I called three plumbers before finally reaching somebody which turned out to be Appleton Campbell.  They had a plumber on site in less than two hours.
The plumber was prompt, punctual and professional in demeaner.  The leak ended up being located in a wall behind the cabinet under the kitchen sink.  The plumber had to remove water lines to a disposal, instant hot water heater and other pieces of plumbing to access the area.  He also had to cut a 12" x 12" hole in the wall to access the pipe in order to replace the leaky section.
Although a price breakdown was supplied before cutting the hole in the wall, it was a very confusing estimate.  It offered one price for the work and another price if you are an Appleton Campbell HSA customer.  Although you initial the price breakdown, it is not clear which price you are initialing.  I believed I was paying less than half of the charged cost for cutting the access hole in the wall.  The cost just to cut a hole in the wall was over $400.  I could have cut the hole in the wall for him if I had realized that was the actual amount being charged.
Although the leak in the wall was repaired, removing and moving around the other plumbing resulted in multiple additional leaks within the week after the plumber left that the homeowner repaired.
I have had a previous pinhole leak repaired with re-routing a section of plumbing for a quarter of the cost that Appleton Campbell charged.  In a desperate situation where prompt attention is required and cost is not an issue, then Appleton Campbell is the one to call.

I love this company.  I called for an inspection for the sale of our house.  I called, set up an appointment and they responded...all quick, easy and painless.  They were happy to explain everything they were doing and took their shoes off before coming in.  They did a thorough job and while they did cross sell some products, it was zero pressure and well explained.
Now the best part.  We moved into our new home which is also on well water.  Within a week, we noticed red tinged dirty water coming out of the faucet and immediately freaked out.  We hadn't closed yet, so I wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with the well before settlement and I called Bell.
Another tech came out and almost immediately diagnosed the problem as simply disuse since the house sat empty for a while.  Even if the problem had been more severe, he explained everything so clearly and vividly, it immediately put me at ease (and educated me).  Again, he did cross sell some products, but it was everything I was in the market for.  Specifically water treatment.  Even though I scheduled a "well inspection" which runs around $300, he offered to change my appointment to an "estimate" and didn't charge me a thing.
We will deffinitely be using them in the future.
