Golden Retreat is a fabulous boarding facility. It is bright, airy and immaculate. Donna is wonderfully flexible and works with you to make your pet's stay a good experience. My little dog stayed in a and quot;suiteand quot; or room that was large enough to accommodate her canvas crate, tufted bed, blanket and toys. Her suite had an orthopedic dog bed, oriental print rug, windows and a glass door that opened onto her little yard and overlooked the large dog play yard. My dog is a rescue who had spent months in a shelter, so I was concerned about boarding her. She did so well! She was delighted to see me, but she was also bouncing around, going to Donna and her husband. She'll be visiting Golden Retreat again and I'll have no worries. This is a fabulous facility that provides excellent care. My vets also board at Golden Retreat.

Wonderful. It was the first time I had ever boarded my dog. I considered her "socially challenged". He was wonderful with her. He called about an hour after she got there to assure me that she had settled in and was in his lap. I was so relieved. She had never been away from me and was pretty spoiled. I would refer anyone to Jason Gayle and his Alpha Kennel.

Dr. Liza Nusinovich was extermely attentive to our pup and ultimately we successfully treated his tummy troubles (3 months of diarrhea on and off) with a Panacur prescription and a grain free diet. Melvin is a much, much happier pup!  Had Dr. Nusinovich been the only vet we had seen, the review would undoubtedly be A+!
Only problem was after resolving tummy issues Melvin saw Dr. Bakanas for another checkup, and Dr. Bakanas gave him a treat (without asking!) at the end of our visit.  She had reviewed the chart and knew of his dietary issues even though the visit was unrelated, so I was surprised at this and couldn't speak up fast enough. The receptionist confirmed that the treats were BJs brand (not grain free).  Very disappointing after all we went through with his dietary adjustments.

Great!  Dr Helen Poland was 10 minutes early.  I love it!  OWEC is usually on time and when a vet is running late, the office staff always calls me.
OWEC has been my equine vet for nearly 20 years.  I've always had outstanding service and my horses have had the very best care. OWEC stays on top of the latest in veterinary science and technology. The vets and office staff are terrific and have always taken the time to answer my questions.  I love that OWEC has several excellent vets. Being on top of information technology, any OWEC vet responding to an emergency can pull out their tap top and access my horse's records. Also, you often hear the expression about "rocket science". Well, at  OWEC you get a "rocket science" vet. Dr Helen Poland was a PhD physicist before becoming a super equine vet.  And Dr Tina Boyd is an  extraordinary vet who is TLAER emergency responder certified and works to inform emergency responders and horse people on how to avoid or in deal with emergencies. In my book, OWEC is the real deal!! They've taken taken great care of my horses and taught me a lot.

After 12 years of being a member of the family, our 24-year-old gray mare developed cancer. Dr. O'Grady was her vet the entire time we had her. The symptoms of the illness developed quickly and it was only a matter of a few days from diagnosis to euthenasia. I couldn't have asked for better end-of-life care for my horse. Dr. O'Grady did an extensive examination, sent blood work to the lab for testing, and provided palliative care so my horse wasn't in pain. When the diagosis was confirmed, Dr. O'Grady gave clear information about the disease and prognosis. The next day, when we had her euthenized, Dr. O'Grady explained what would happen. (I have been present when my various dogs and cats needed to be put to sleep at the animal hospital, but a 1000 pound horse was a new experience.) Everything went smoothly. Dr. O'Grady showed compassionate to the humans and was so gentle with my horse. What more could a person ask for?
