    Indoor Air Quality Medics
    Late afternoon on Labor Day, we had a lightning strike near to the house. The resulting electrical surge created a spark and ignited a fire in the aluminum flex gas line going to the furnace. Fortunately, we were home and was able to shut off the gas to that line and put out the fire. I contacted IAQ's Emergency line as the fire department had to shut off the electric and gas at the meter as a precaution until we had the issue checked out. Josh who called me back right back did a great job explaining what likely needed to be done after I texted him a few pics. He advised that I wait until the next day to get it serviced and save the emergency service fee. He even took the time to schedule the service call for me. The next day, Brandon came out and replaced an aluminum flex line with a pinhole in it and he also repaired the thermostat burnt wiring. He got our furnace fan back working quickly to enable use of the air conditioning. Upon finishing the job, I called the gas company who also spoke with Brandon about the repair. This enabled the gas company to come back out to inspect the repair and turned the gas back on.

    I got a few quotes from different companies before I ultimately decided to go with OHI. I choose them because they were very open and honest about everything leading up to me signing my contract. Scott and Whitney came to my home to give me a free estimate and talked to me about what I wanted and what to expect during the remodeling process. I liked the fact that they weren���t trying to up-sell me and worked with me to do everything I wanted within my budget. They came to me with a computer design and we worked together to make everything perfect for my home. I highly enjoyed working with them and highly recommend them to anyone who wants to update their home and do it with little stress. They communicated with me throughout the process and made me aware of everything that was going on. I love my new kitchen and bathroom!

    Rich and his assistant were very professional. They diagnosed the problem the first day, picked up a new pump and valves and installed them the next morning. They explained everything as they went, including retiring, adding a shutoff valve, new backflow valve, and float switches on a new hanger. Neat work. Before finishing, they checked the pumping volume twice to make sure it met code. (Sorry I don���t have a better picture of them working, they were always down on their hands and knees looking down the tank.)

    Custom Design Tile was pleasure to work with from start to finish! The owner Brian Brennan and his son Mike did an outstanding job for us. After accepting the quote for the job, Brian guided us through the design process with relative ease. He accompanied us when visiting all the companies to help us pick out the tile, vanity and fixtures for the new bathroom. He gave us great advice on how to proceed. The team did that performed the work was superb. Jose and Orlando arrived on time every day, did their work per the schedule and cleaned up after themselves every day. The tile work was phenomenal. From start to finish, the job went very well and finished on time. The finished product turned out wonderfully. I highly recommend CDT for any bath remodeling project you have!!

    5 stars. So we put out several bids for getting our basement remodeled from bare bones into living space, and Hivex was the most professional in all aspects, from the proposal, to the install work, to the finishing touches (they didn't paint so we did that ourselves). I have nothing but praise for the job they did. It was on time, in scope and on budget totally, their PM (Bob S) was superb and the guys all very respectful, professional and prompt. Hivex drew up the plans, pulled all the permits, and worked out all the inspections with the inspector (looks like everything passed, to me!!). They even had a couple of ideas I had never thought of, that made it all the better, also at no extra cost btw!! I'd recommend them highly for anyone looking to remodel their basement!

    A mess from start to finish, and in the end the company did not install a new water heater. I used Angie���s List to request a quote, and heard back from the company within a day, giving what I thought was a reasonable quote, about $700 less than the other quotes I had gotten. As the company had received an overall ���A��� rating on Angie���s List, I decided to go with them. That is when the problems started. Although I had sent a couple of photos with the quote request, they said they needed some additional ones. I sent them. Then they said they required a certain set of measurements, and the person telling me that said she would not be in the next day, but anyone in the office could continue. The next day received an email from a different person asking if I was still interested in the job. I called to explain I had already been dealing with someone. The person I spoke with seemed confused and said I needed to resend the photos and measurements to a different person. I did this. After a couple of days hearing nothing, I called to check the status, and the same confused person answered the phone again, left me on hold for 5-10 minutes, then Cramer back on the line and said I needed yet another set of measurements, for different things. I sent the measurements. Again hearing nothing for a day or two, I called and said were they interested in doing the job or not. I was assured they were, and they set up an installation date. I said I thought they would send someone to verify setup, access, and measurements, but they said no, they would do that the same day of the installation. Meanwhile, their original work estimate quote was changed to be almost exactly the same as the others I had received. (���Additional work required���.) Though I understand additional work was needed, it seems to me they deliberately low-balled the original estimate to get the call-back. The company also requires the customer to call them ���before the day of installation��� to ���confirm installation and give payment information���. (No, they do not do like every other company does and actually CALL YOU to confirm installation.) I called the day before, and yes you guessed it got the same confused person. I said I was calling to confirm installation, he said ���OK!��� I asked if that was all I needed to do, and he said ���Yep!��� Within a couple of hours I received VM messages and emails explaining I needed to give them my payment information prior to installation. I called back the next day and did so. On the day of installation, per the company���s instructions, I called in the morning to find out the time frame for the techs to arrive. I was told I was the third job for the day, and likely it would be early afternoon. I explained I had an appointment at 6 PM, and was told not to worry, the techs would be there and gone long before that. Yes, you guessed it, there were ���unforeseen complications��� with one of the earlier jobs and the techs would not arrive until ���probably 4 or after���. I reminded them of my 6 PM appointment, and they said likely they would not be gone in time for me to make it. We thus arranged for me to be the first job the following day. The techs arrived the following morning and proceeded to do the exact same measurements I had done previously, and to take pictures of the same areas I had previously sent photos of. I began to get worried when the tech immediately got on the phone with the company. Finally he explained to me that ���due to code changes��� he would not be able to install the water heater until I got an HVAC company to come make changes in one of our vent pipes. (How I was to arrange for the HVAC tech and the water heater tech to arrive at the same time was not explained, and it seemed obvious to me that one job could not be done without the other, unless we were willing to have a disconnected water heater for several days.) The measurement and photo that made the job impossible, I might add, is one of the early ones I sent to the company. My impression: This company���s customer service is absolutely terrible. Unless you are desperate, look elsewhere. I wasted several days, engaged in multiple phone calls and emails, all for nothing. Now I get to start the process all over again.

    I chose VM Drainage and Erosion solutions after consulting with four contractors. They were the only one that provided a detailed task by task description and cost estimate. With this I could determine exactly what was going to be done and how much it would cost. The other 3 contractors only provided line items and cost with little to no detail leaving me with a lot of questions about what was covered under their line items, i.e. the details that matter. This left open the potential for disputes on exactly what was covered and made it very difficult to compare the project scopes of the contractors. VM Drainage estimate was attractive but not the lowest. But then comparing work scopes was difficult. Bottom line is I got a job that was well executed, took into account all my concerns, and based on conditions after more than a month, is working well. I highly recommend them based on cost, customer orientation, quality of work and time of execution.

    The technician arrived on time to take a look at what needed to be done. I had mentioned I was concerned that the spraying water could possibly be getting into the wall. Initially, he did't care to see the problem with the water on. I had to suggested it...... how can you properly diagnose the leak problem without seeing it with the water on? After seeing it he said the leak is from the vacuum breaker, and the work required would cost $289 with cutting in to the wall to repair the POSSIBLE leak. To save some money he suggested we cut our own wall and the cost would be $250. With either option we were responsible for repairing the wall back. I did a little research on vacuum breakers, went to Home Depot replaced the part for $2.79 and my faucet works perfectly! No more spraying water. However, the technician told me this part was not sold separately. That is deceitful. Although the estimate was free, I don't feel like the technician put forth enough effort to really look at the problem and properly diagnose the cause of the problem. I feel like if I was stupid I would have paid $289 or more and had a hole in my wall for nothing. Trying to take advantage of people is not a good business practice. I am thankful for him at least identifying/naming the part that had the issue, that was helpful for me to know what to look for and then fix the cause of the spraying water myself.
