    Brother's Landscaping Services INC
We had a bad storm and lost part of one of our giant trees. Brothers came out and removed the rest of the damaged tree and also removed another one that was leaning towards the house. It was hard because we have a wood fence beside the trees. They were very careful and were able to remove both trees without any damage and cleaned up all the debris. Everything looks great and we are now safe from these trees falling on our house. I use Brothers Landscaping for everything including installing a retaining wall, putting up a fence, putting in a walkway, installing a deck and general yard cleanup. The owner Alex is very nice, professional and oversees all the work.

    Legend Lawn Care, LLC
I laud Mike, his business model and thorough industry knowledge exhibited to me during my communications with him. I selected his company after reviewing his proposal to service my lawn (1.1 Acres), especially when compared against others that placed bids for the same work. I have been very impressed with level of service, his ease of accessibility and responsiveness to my requests. Saying I'm "Very satisfied" is quite an understatement, and will continue to retain his services going forward.

    Cole's Tree & Landscaping
Worth every dollar spent, money goes a long way for the quality of this company's work. They went above and beyond to make sure everything I needed done was finished during the time they were there. Would call again for anymore tree work.

When I called to arrange an estimate, Jose answered the call instead of an answering machine or a service that schedules call backs. He met with me the same day that I called! Jose arrived for the estimate 10 minutes early which is something you do not see these days! I walked around my property and pointed out where I needed lawn mowing, maintenance and some tree and bush maintenance. Jose has a good eye for detail and suggested some additional improvements to achieve the openness I was after for my property. Jose told me that he would schedule my work in about a week. The day Jose and his team came out to perform the work, he gave me a call to let me know he was there and see if I wanted to come out and see the work. We met the next day and walked around the property to review the work. The result was exactly as we had discussed. Jose was prompt, he has very good attention to detail and is very customer oriented. I fully recommend Jose and his company for your residential landscaping needs.

VM Drainage & Erosion Solution LLC
I chose VM Drainage and Erosion solutions after consulting with four contractors. They were the only one that provided a detailed task by task description and cost estimate. With this I could determine exactly what was going to be done and how much it would cost. The other 3 contractors only provided line items and cost with little to no detail leaving me with a lot of questions about what was covered under their line items, i.e. the details that matter. This left open the potential for disputes on exactly what was covered and made it very difficult to compare the project scopes of the contractors. VM Drainage estimate was attractive but not the lowest. But then comparing work scopes was difficult. Bottom line is I got a job that was well executed, took into account all my concerns, and based on conditions after more than a month, is working well. I highly recommend them based on cost, customer orientation, quality of work and time of execution.

    Brother's Landscaping Services INC
Brothers Landscaping is the best. I have used them for several years for all my outdoor projects. They go far beyond expectations. They have done everything from tree removal and yard cleanup, leveling my yard ( bringing 12 truck loads of dirt) and building a retaining wall and planting grass, Putting in a 45' footpath in my back yard and also extending my deck. They are always courteous, fair priced, punctual and work hard. Alex is fantastic and always available on the phone and oversees all projects. I wouldn't think of using anyone else.

    Wilson Lawn Care
I live on an acre lot and you can consider half of it is woods, house, and driveway. The rest is grass. What is unique about Wilson Lawn Care Services is that they will take the number of agreed cuts for the season, tally them up, and then give you month installments for 12 months. Since the mowing season is 6 months, monthly payments will not be as big. In Spring of 2018, Mr. Wilson came out to give me an estimate for weekly cuts and I accepted it. We agreed on a total of 24 cuts and signed a contract. Heres my experience with this service. Issue #1 The service started about the third week of April, and immediately right after the first cut I got the first monthly invoice. About a week or so later May rolled around and in came the second invoice! I emailed asking why are the invoices coming in so fast, and the answer was that they invoice customers in the beginning of the month and since you joined in the middle of the April, he had to invoice me right away (for the full amount!). What I did not like about Aprils invoice is that it was not prorated for the 1-2 cuts I will get. I got an invoice for the entire month of April! I paid April and May like 1-2 week apart and only 2 cuts into it. Issue #2 I paid for weekly cuts so I was expecting my lawn to be cut 4 times a month. There was not a single month where I got 4 cuts. It appears that their week is planned out to cut certain regions of the county on certain days and if your day gets rained out, you will not be serviced until the following week. No attempt to make up the cut on another day of the week. Then came the question of making up missed cuts because we are paying for that, right?! Their solution to making up missed cuts is to cut the lawn TWICE on a single visit. It took me a while to understand this explanation, but he seems convinced this is legit and good business. So, I am paying him double to cut my lawn twice in a single visit to make up for missed cuts. Issue #3 I noticed when they showed up, they would service the lawn at lightning speed. I was cool with that in the beginning then I started noticing missed spots, missed edging, and gobs and gobs of clippings left on the grass. I am well aware that the agreement is not to pick up the grass clippings and Im good with that, but we did agree they will blow it so its not in piles left on the grass. Blowing the grass clippings was done only to the front of the house. Gobs of grass clippings create dead spots no matter where they are mind you Issue #4 Late in June, they missed a cut and by now I am used to the unreliability and irregular schedule they run (some of it has to do with the rain). I did not say much. Then again, another missed cut in a row in the beginning of July so that puts us out about 2-3 weeks without a cut. So I emailed Mr. Wilson asking him why he is not servicing the lawn, and his answer was that for the next 2 months the service is bi-weekly (every 2 weeks). I had no idea this bi-weekly thing is in play, but we are here whether I like it or not. I am paying for weekly cuts for an entire season (agreed on 24 weeks). I missed most of April, we missed a cut in May, missed a cut in June, and now we are on bi-weekly schedule. I already feel like I am paying for something I am not getting. By my records, here are the cuts I got for a weekly schedule: April - Started after the middle of the month yet billed for entire month (max 2 cuts) May - Somewhat consistent, when rained out, did not attempt to make up (3 cuts) June - Somewhat consistent, when rained out, did not attempt to make up (3 cuts) July - Bi-weekly schedule (2 cuts) August - Bi-weekly schedule (3 cuts) September - Supposed to go to weekly, but continued bi-weekly (2 cuts) October - Not even bi-weekly anymore (1 cuts) November - Nothing That totals 16 cuts. I paid for 24! You do the math Aside from the haphazard cuts, no shows, and the use odd tactics like cutting your lawn twice in one day to make up for missed cuts, I am paying for a third of the cuts I am NOT getting. I am a righteous person and not looking to get anything for free, but I take a serious issue when Im getting bamboozled like that. I have talked to Mr. Wilson on several occasions to express my dissatisfaction, but his response is that we have some 150 customers and no one is complaining. Then he went on to say that he is communication with his customers, AND because he is communicating with his customers these anomalies should be OK. I realized that when you are on a contract basis with them, you are at the bottom of the priority list. Perhaps they just saw no value in a 1 acre home on a monthly plan. You can decide for yourself, however, if you do use his service, I do recommend you pay as you go and NOT do the contract

    Capitol Landscaping Inc
From the start, Jose was responsive, punctual, and knowledgeable. With all the rain we've been having in NoVa recently, I've been having water issues in my finished basement. Jose, and a number of other landscapers came out to assess the grading of my front lawn. He came up with a plan, which I asked to scale back, and executed it within three days of agreeing to do the work. Jose took time to explain what he was doing and why and quoted a reasonable price (especially compared to other companies). Once it was all finished he told me to call if I have water issues in the next few months. I would certainly consider hiring Capitol Landscaping again.

    Clarks Landscaping
I hired Clark's Landscaping to have the mulch beds on the front and side of my house cleaned up. I am very happy with the job that Adam and his crew did. As the saying goes, "A picture is worth a thousand words", so I've included some photos of the mulch beds after the job was completed. I scheduled a month in advance because I needed to arrange to have time off from work so I could be at home on the day the work was being done. I also wanted the English Laurels to finish flowering before I had them pruned. Since I had ample lead time, Adam was able to accommodate my first choice of appointment date. As far as responsiveness, Adam is good about answering his phone and replies to e-mails promptly. The quality of the work was great. He put a nice edge on the beds. Adam pruned the English Laurels by hand, which I was happy about. He fertilized the laurels and spread shredded hardwood mulch. Waste was removed and disposed of as promised. The bid I received was $ 774.00 ($860 - 10% Angie's List discount). It was higher than the bid I received from another company. However, the other company wasn't as responsive as Adam was when came to returning my e-mails. Adam and his crew were polite and professional. Adam even trimmed some grass that was growing around my fence line in the back yard at no extra charge. They showed up on time and completed the work in the promised amount of time. I was satisfied with Clark's Landscaping and I would hire them again.

On a Thursday, I spoke to Julio on the phone, texted my address, and he agreed to come to the house to look at the yard and provide an estimate either Thursday night or Saturday. He did not show up or contact me. A week later, I contacted him again. He apologized, asked me to resend the address text, and made an appointment to come Saturday between 10 and 11. He did not show up. I texted him and he again apologized. I understand that spring is the busy season, but if a company doesn't have time, they should just let me know that.
