    Veterans Medical Supply Inc.
    They claim to be a veteran owned business, so I expected to find a company dedicated to service and their fellow veterans.
    I called at 1645 on a Tuesday (They're open M-F 8-5EST). I introduced myself and stated I was seeking information and the type of medical supplies I was looking for. 
    Representative hung up while I was in mid sentence. 
    Called back and received no answer. I assume it was too close to quitting time to answer questions from a fellow veteran.
    If you're looking for medical supplies, don't bother calling too close to opening time, lunch time or quitting time or Friday afternoons, to ask questions. They'll either not answer the phone or hang up. Privately owned business, federal government level customer service.

    My wife ordered a backrest for her Dolomite Opal 2000 walker.  She was quoted a price of $26.00 for the part, plus shipping which was unknown.  Two days later I want over to Area Access with the walker, to make sure that the part would fit.  When I arrived, they immediately took the walker from me (keep in mind it only takes 2 screws to take the old part off and the same 2 screws to put the new part on).  Five minutes later the walker was returned.  The total bill was $85.50.  They charged $12.00 for shipping, $39.00 for labor, and $8.50 for supplies. After complaining about the labor bill they first were going to reduce it to $25.00, then I showed them with a dime in my pocket that I could take the backrest off the scooter, they finally waved the entire $39.00.  I was told the $8.50 was for supplies such as lubrication and paper work.  So it cost me $8.50 to receive my bill.  Just remember when this company bills you you will be charged $8.50 for you bill.  By the way the $8.50 is imprinted on the bill so it is part of their normal operations.  I believe that a company should make a reasonable profit on their customers.  What company charges 225% of the item ordered.  This company does.  After 20 years of being a customer, I will no longer allow myself to be ripped off. Taking my business where the customer is appreciated.

    Capital Caring - Leesburg
    It?s been three weeks since my mother died, so I can finally describe her last days.  They were made much more comfortable and pain free by the wonderful people at Capital Caring.  We called them in late because no one wanted to admit that Mom was dying.  My advice is to call them in as early as possible.  The individuals we dealt with were kind, knowledgable and a calming presence for not only my mother but the whole family.  They provide a brochure with a tremendous amount of information about what was going to happen.  They train the family to do the things that must be done.  Trained nurses are available by phone or in person 24 hours a day.  They save you and your loved one from emergency room visits. 
    By the time we called them, we were in crisis mode.  They sent great nurses to assess my mom?s condition (thanks, Martha and Michelle) and were able to provide round the clock care for the few days that Mom was still with us. Because of Capital Caring, my mother was able to die in her own bed with her own cherished belongings and her loving family around her.   The end was not accompanied by sirens and flashing lights but low lights and warm, comforting hands.
    Call these people!   For your sake, as well as your loved one!

    Poorly, the technicin showed up with replacement equipment but the unit's AC power cord was too short, returning the new equipment to Roberts.  I heard nothing for several days and I again called Roberts.  Again a technician was sent with replacement equioment but again the power cords were too short.  The new equipment was returned.  That was the last I heard from Roberts!
    I then contacted a new service provider through my doctor.  Upon their arrival I discovered the Roberts is known in the industry for providing obsolete equipment, charging for but not providing service for their equipment, and generally resisting customer suggestions.
    My recommendation is to take your business elsewhere, these guys need to get out of the home service business, certainly when it applies to home medical equipment.

    The office staff was very friendly and informative.
    The installer was a little late but did a very good job on the installation. He appeared to be very experienced at doing the installation. The installer did a very neat and professional looking installation.
    The installer did a very good job of demonstrating and explaining the use and care of the unit.
    There were a lot of things to remember. Even though this was a "refurbished" unit I thought it should have come with an owners manual.
    I called Area Access about the owners manual and the office staff immediately E-mailed me one.

    The aid comes in twice a week to bathe my wife because she is not able to get into the tub as yet. The nurse was here last Sunday and we are expecting someone come for physical and speech therapy. They were recommended to us and we were using another service earlier. Even though my wife had a break up because she went to the hospital for surgery they didn't restart. They just suspended operation and restarted everything on schedule. They were professional and I had used them earlier for myself.
