AF.H. Furr Plumbing Heating AC & ElectricalOH MY GOODNESS! WE ARE SO HAPPY!!! This was just such an EXCELLENT service from every respect! First, FH Furr was responsive - they set us up with an appointment right away. They said that they'd give us an estimate and we could decide what we wanted to do from there. We had SUCH a hard time finding anyone that would come out/was available, so this next-day service, early, was just what we needed. We had excellent contact from them - from a confirmation text saying they'd see us the next day, then when we called dispatch first thing in the morning once everyone knew their schedule, they knew where we were in the queue - window of 10 til 1300. They called to say when they were finishing the first job, then when they were 20 minutes out. We got a picture of our tech, so we knew who to expect. When Steve arrived, he was professional and explained what the first part of the service would be, then what to expect based upon what he saw. He was qualified to work both the electrical and the generator side of the problem, which was EXCELLENT because the other techs here had been able to work only one side of it and not even look at the other. Since it was a combo problem, this was exactly what we needed. Steve was courteous and professional - he put on slippers every time he came in, wore gloves and mask. Which is quite an ask in a house that's been sitting with no AC for 4 days. // then, the actual quality of his fixing the problem. He walked through everything, explaining as he went what connected to what, what it did, where things seemed to go wrong ... all this was EXACTLY what I needed because I wanted to know so I would be a little smarter (this is the second time it happened). I learned a lot, followed his explanations because he put it in terms I understood, and I really felt like he cared that I understood. As it turned out, there were multiple things wrong - loose connections, which burnt a post and a wire, which prevented the signal from getting where it should, etc etc. He explained both the panel and the generator side of things as he fixed it all. Then, in ultimate customer service, he walked through and made sure the whole house turned back on - making sure the AC worked, that all switches were powered, and that everything was as it should be. Then, he made the whole system go through a cycle - making sure the power properly switched from utility to generator, that everything came up on generator, then that everything released back to utility and the generator shut down properly. I was VERY IMPRESSED with the whole experience. We're also now part of their annual service plan. I tell you, we could not be happier. I highly recommend them.- Nancy F.

FURR - Was that my property twice this week the first time was to do an inspection on the water heater and they performed a water heater flush and gave me a great deal! They informed me of my unit performance and gave me helpful tips. The second visit was because my Gas furnace was not cycling correctly, the technician came out and promptly fixed the issue, also gave me a fair price, and gave me helpful tips. Will definitely be using them again in the future, for any water heater, air conditioning, gas furnace, plumbing, or electrical needs!- Jeff O.

AMAX Energy Systems - Back-up GeneratorsOur almost 70 year old community has a blessing and a curse—many aging trees and above ground wiring. Over our 55 years here we experienced multiple outages and anticipate more. After many years of debate we finally decided enough was enough. We consulted generator owner neighbors, Angie’s List and a ton of online research in deciding we wanted a specialist that could handle the whole installation and it’s multiple components/contractors. Max Energy Systems offered just exactly what we were looking for. Our decision proved correct through first estimate to final approval. At the start the gas company was digging up our area to upgrade and repair gas lines. You alerted us to the possibility that work could reduce our pressure below the minimum required for our desired generator. That proved correct and the company installed an entirely new gas line avoiding what could have been a game changing problem. Your coordination with the gas company and their contractor successfully resolved a potential road block . The not so ideal location of our electrical transfer box, our unique architecture and location on the lot created considerations that required creative solutions. Your team did a splendid job of solving those issues and in the process were extremely conscientious and accommodating with our schedule. Theirs and your attention to detail, workmanship and communication with us made the necessary intrusive work smooth and easy. We were greatly impressed with your thorough planning, low-key management of all the contractors, inspectors and components of our successful generator installation. There were quite a few curves during this process and all were handled professionally. Just a few weeks after installation we experienced an outage. Our generator fired up and ran flawlessly relieving us of the anxiety that characterized many periods of threatening weather over the years. Thank you so very much for the outstanding job you and your associates did under the demanding and ever changing conditions required for our generator installation. AWe reached out to five other plumbing providers for an emergency technician to come out, with no luck, until one company referred us to Reddick & Sons. They sent a technician out within 90 minutes; he inspected the unit, gave us a short- and long-term diagnosis and refused payment after his short visit. We are now in the market for a new toilet.

DNugent & Sons fixed pendant kitchen lights that had detached from broken ceiling boxes. Nugent gave a $211 estimate to repair a single light. Total time for the repairs to three lights was close to three hours; the first light repair took about half that time. The repairs appear to have been well done. But we believe the bill was excessive, and unjustified. We paid the $1071 on site. The invoice was delivered later, and consisted of two unintelligible charges: “Customer Provided Lighting Fixture*Each $633", and “Miscellaneous Minor Repair $438". Asked for an explanation of the invoice, the Nugent accounting office (Chris) said that $211 for each of the three lights was the total of $633, as estimated. And the $438? The explanations offered changed, conflicted, and became increasingly creative. Among the explanations for the $438 were the following. ● Nugent charged $40 for each electrical ceiling box installed to support the lights. Nugent said $40 was a reduction from its “book rate” of $65 each. Those same boxes sell at Home Depot for approximately $3 each, less when purchased in quantity. ● The remaining $318 ($438 - $120) was for extra time, beyond 45 minutes, for each of the three repairs, billed in one-half hour increments, which is the shortest time increment Nugent bills. However, in our home, two of the three lights were repaired within 45 minutes. (Note that if each of three repairs runs over the 45 minutes by only a minute or two, Nugent will charge $318 for an additional one and one-half hours of work.) ● Nugent argued that the extra charges were justified by what Nugent “saved” us in drywall repairs by not needing to cut the drywall. So the less Nugent does, the more it charges. We were never told before or during the jobs that there might be additional charges for time or for materials – and certainly not for such excessive and creative pricing of time and materials. Consequently, we cannot recommend Nugent & Sons to others.

AHighly recommended. The entire process was performed expertly and efficiently. In our initial meeting, Tony explained what would be needed in detail and we were given the pros and cons of all options. We went with the Cummins which was a bit more expensive but you get what you pay for and we will be patting ourselves on the back during the next four-day outage. They provided a detailed installation schedule which they easily met. Installation went smoothly with zero problems. Marshall, Steve and Tony are masters at their trade.
