Lynchburg Virginia is fortunate to have a great team of heart doctors. Dr. Sackett grew up here and is established in the community. He has been serving me for about seven years for atrial fibrillation. He monitors me through a variety of tests and monitors the medicines that I take. Lynchburg is lucky to have a professional like him.

I arrived at 08:20AM, registered and sat in a packed waiting room for half an hour, at most.  The receptionist called me into her office whereupon I furnished my insurance card, photo id and answered a few routine question.  Then I returned to the waiting room for about another 20 minutes.  After this brief 20-minuted period, a receptionist guided me to the bay where the nurse, Jennifer, provided me with instructions to follow.  She introduced the I.V.  in preparation for the anesthesiologist‎.  After another 10-minute wait, the nurse wheeled me into the room where I met Dr. Scharf, the anasthesiologist and Dr. Musana, the gastroenterologist.  I found both Dr. Scharf and Dr. Musana very considerate and thoughtful and willing to explain the procedure and their role in the process.  After I recovered, I once again found hospital staff already at my side providing ample guidance and compassion for my waiting family and me.  Everything went better than I could have expected or hoped : from my initial preparations at home until my discharge from recovery.

The PA that I saw ran a hearing test on me as well as using a "camera" to look in my throat and ears. She determined that I had no hearing loss, but did have post-nasal drip related to allergies that was contributing to some on-going stuffiness.

Communication is quite easy from square one. The way insurance or financing handled is good enough and almost seamless. Things go there so well in every aspect of my care that it turns into more than just an appointment but almost a social thing. I'm just very happy the way things go there. When I need a reference, I get it. If I need a little more confidence about decisions, there is always another physician attending. No worries on my part.

People at Orthopaedic Center Of Central Virginia are very professional. They really know the stuff and go to a lot of detail about what is going on with you. It used to be a smaller practice and now it is humongous. People come from all over to work on them. The thing that has driven me crazy about the place though is the fact that you have to wait even when you have an appointment. You are going to get top notch service and top notch care.

I have seen Dr. Hayes for years. He is attentive, friendly, and very smart. He listens carefully and the appointments don't feel rushed. He's sometimes behind in his schedule (probably because he doesn't rush you when he's with you), but I'm willing to put up with that in exchange for the time spent on the visit. As with other primary care practices in the area, you must see the NP or a different practitioner if you need to be worked in, but I've been pleased with every physician in the organization. Most recently I had to be worked in with a different practitioner and Dr. Hayes called to follow up on the treatment.

Medical Associates of Central Virginia was wonderful. The staff was nice and patient with me. They didn't have any problems with changing of appointments. If I left a message, they will call me on the same business day. They would be on top of the list to look into.

I still have two herniated discs. I had to go back to work so the problem came back but I had the most luck with this doctor & this surgery. He's a very nice person & had a good bedside manner. As far as those things, he was excellent.

I was in the police force for 20 years. I started using them during my tenure in the police force. I have had the same doctor the entire time. When you go there, you get to pick your doctor. The first time I went to him was in 1985 and that was for my first physical examination. They will work with you and try to give you an appointment within a week or two. If you call in with an emergency and tell them what it is, they will try to work you right in. It is not the physician’s fault. I feel like I am part of their family. They take care of my family, too. I usually go there every three months. I will continue to use them in the future.

Update--Due to their new billing practices I will no longer be going their. The doctors also do not have hospital privileges anymore.

Everything was fine. It is a huge collection of doctors, but on my first visit, I spent an hour with a nurse practitioner and never met the doctor. I never did meet the doctor until I was in the procedure room, which I thought was kind of weird. It takes a long time to get in for the first appointment, and then it takes another two months or so for a standard procedure. The billing was taken care of by my insurance.
