    ABBOTT DRY WALL
My siblings and I needed minor drywall touch ups and a couple of larger issues repaired in our parents home after they died. Abbott was on time, gave a very reasonable estimate and set a date to begin. He brought a few other things to our attention, fixed them, but charged us no more for the added work. This is a 3 story, 5 bedroom home and Gene went over it with a fine tooth comb to be sure everything was as it should be. His eye for detail is very good. Extremely satisfied!

    CW Drywall
He did an amazing job. My house looks better now than the time I first bought it. I couldn't have pick a better person to redo my drywall in my house. He was always on time and worked extremely hard. I would definitely recommend him.

    Palmer Contracting Inc
Excellent!! John Palmer is so knowledgeable, efficient and professional. This was a big job with lots of unusual requirements because the house is so old and had received minimal maintenance in the past. After John's assessment, we elected to have a metal roof (because the house couldn't really support the additional weight of shingles), After the gutter company said they couldn't install gutters, John created a method of attaching the gutters (as the house didn't have boards to attach standard gutters to). He also replaced and repaired the drywall ceiling in the kitchen and bathroom. Added bonus he removed the old tv antenna system from the roof and assisted in setting up a digital antenna that works great!! His workers were professional, courteous and always on time! We had planned a big memorial service at the farm and Palmer's team worked diligently to complete everything and cleanup before the guests arrived. The roof is beautiful and we are so pleased with all the assistance in restoring the house.

    A1 Do-It-All Drywall
Great! They came the same day and provided an estimate that night (others never did give me an estimate)! They did a professional job ripping out the old ceiling and insulation, replaced and finished it, including additional patching and improvements that weren't part of the original scope. They were prompt each day and very courteous...a pleasure to work with. They also put two coats of paint on the entire garage and I'd hire them back in a heartbeat!

    JL Home Improvement
Work was done on existing drywall that was damaged and needed patching and replacement. There was also a damaged window sill. Workers came on several different days. Some were prompt and courteous while others were not timely. The quality of work done was very good and still looks nice 6 months later. The billing process was easy but one worker overbilled for time not worked. Owner resolved that problem quickly and to our satisfaction.

I wouldn't recommend him. I don't think he's very professional. I think once you come into a place you shouldn't tear more up. He tore the whole ceiling down and now he won't call me back. He'll only text me and tell me he is going along with his schedule.

    JL Home Improvement

We have been reluctant to write this review.  If we were independently wealthy, we would have JL Home Improvement on personal retainer and you'd never have the opportunity to hire the company that may well be the best kept secret in Lynchburg. Alas, our lottery number has not come up, so let us tell you about these folks.

We are dedicated DIY'ers. We had bad experiences with two different contactors early on, and were reluctant to try again. But drywall? Well, that's a skill we don't have. So we talked to JLHI about putting up drywall in an upstairs bedroom. After talking to them, we decided to have them put up the trim. Just to see. So we did. The resulting work was excellent. They understood our devotion to our 100+ year old house, and we could not be happier with the work done.

They are now working in our main living area, which poses multiple and complex challenges. The work - from everyone involved - is nothing less than exceptional. Each person has multiple areas of expertise, and all have contributed to work that will last for another 100 years.  These people are craftsmen; they care about the quality of their work and they will not stop until we are happy with the product.  The crew - often the unknown when hiring a contractor - are extraordinary. They arrive, work hard all day, clean up after, and try hard to minimize the disruption that renovations inevitably engender.

JL Home Improvement may not be your lowest bid. But if you want the best possible work at a fair price, done by people who love and care about what they do - well, you just can't do any better.

But you'd better hurry - our lottery number is bound to come up one day soon.

    Professional Painting Contractor LLC
As I was turning right on the road i didn't give much thought to the 'professional paint contractor' van that raced across my lane (he was turning left onto the same road i was turning onto, but he was coming from the opposite direction and speedily cut across the lane instead of yielding to the drivers in my lane.) At the next light i pulled up to the van and noticed he happened to be in the left turn lane (of two left turn lanes) that were turning onto the freeway. The van happened to be slightly over the white line of my lane. I still didn't think it a big deal at this point, so i pulled up beside him. Big mistake. The passenger in his vehicle made and obvious look at me after the driver pointed my way. As the light turned green, I began to turn (in parallel with him) onto the freeway ramp and he accelerated and proceeded to force me out of my lane and off of the road! I honked my horn several times and he only forced me off more. I stepped on the brakes and then corrected back into my lane behind him. At this point, I realized his move was intentional (both lanes merged into one 40 yards down the road and then merged LEFT onto the freeway -he had cut me off to the RIGHT a lane that ended later). Now i was behind him, (as were other cars) in what used to be my lane , and I was now watching him gesture to me, I responded by pointing down to the road and showing him the number "two" by holding up two fingers. I was trying to explain that there was two lanes, as if he didn't know this already. He gestured back shaking his fist angrily, along w/ another unfriendly 'gesture'. His next move surprised me even more -after a few seconds before merging onto the freeway,  he proceeded to slam on his brakes coming to an abrupt halt -all before merging onto the freeway! Thankfully, I wasn't tailgating and was able to put on my brakes safely while not rear-ending him. Several other cars behind me were forced to slam on their brakes as well. Anyway, as I said, I have not used his services but will NEVER use his services. The mere fact that I am wasting any time on writing a review shows that I am so disgusted by his dangerous and haphazard actions on the road that I felt this alone merited a 'warning' to others against having to deal with this individual in person. If you do, I hope you have a more pleasant experience than I had by simply 'sharing the road' with this individual. If you have an unfortunate experience, you were warned! Good luck!

    J P Amos Quality Plastering
I called J.P. Amos 10 days ago on 28-NOV-2014 and left a message.  He got right back to me within 24 hours and set up an appointment to look at the job and provide an estimate.  We met the following Monday on 01-DEC-2014 at which time we agreed on the terms of a verbal contract and scheduled for work to begin on Friday 05-DEC-2014.  On Thursday 04-DEC-2014, J.P. called and asked to postpone the start date to Monday 08-DEC-2014.  I agreed to the postponement and I expressed gratitude and appreciation for the kind courtesy of a timely notice.  As promised, his crew arrived on time at 07:00AM the morning of Monday, 08-DEC-2014.  To my amazement, his crew ripped out and disposed of the entire ceiling plaster and completely replaced it in well under 8 hours.  I thought this job would take *at least* 2 days to complete.  But, these courteous and capable workers finished the job and left everything the way they found it.  I hope to have them back in the Spring of 2015 to perform similar work in the kitchen.

    Jack's Ever Green Painting
I purchased a Big Deal for $99 for three hours of plastering work. When he came out to see what I needed to have done, he said it would take a little longer to complete. The work was okay, I could still see the areas that he patched. But he did complete the work.
