    VAUGHAN & TIMBERLAKE APPLIANCE
My appointment was scheduled for 9 a.m. At 9:15 no technician had arrived so I called and the repairman told me he had forgotten about the appointment. He was here within 10 minutes, examined the washer and found nothing wrong with the machine. The leak was coming from the drain pipe instead. Paid for the service call but didn't mind because I know the washer is sound.

    1. The top of my GE Profile range fractured when something heavy fell on it.  This provider gave me no problems when I told him I wanted to try and get the factory approved part on my own by shopping on line (if I could get it for less). After some research I could not beat the price that they could get it for.  He came on time, worked very hard and did his job well.
    2. Also needed the springs on my Kitchen Aid dishwasher replaced as the door was just flopping down when opened.  He worked diligently and get the job done.
I certainly appreciate someone who is a hard worker.  He is part of a family business that seems efficient, he communicated well with texting, etc., got back to me very fast when questions were asked, was punctual and got the job done properly the first time.  It is difficult to get that kind of service these days. And the work was guaranteed for 90 days.
I would certainly hire this company again!

Our washer and dryer came with the house we recently purchased. Since day one I have not been happy with the performance of the washer as the loads of wash always seemed to have too much water remaining at the end of the cycle, so it was necessary to do an additional drain and spin. I washed a blanket . . . BIG mistake! The next load of wash went through the beginning cycles and then stopped during the draining cycle leaving the washer full of water!
Contacted George's Appliances on Thursday, October 10th for a service call. The person answering the phone was very pleasant and efficient. After taking all my information she said that they would be able to service the washer that afternoon, but I had a conflict so we set an appointment for Friday, October 11th.
The service person arrived as scheduled, was extremely polite and personable, asked lots of questions and was quickly able to diagnose the problem. The drain and trap were clogged. He unclogged both of these and did a test run of the cycles to ensure there were no other problems. In addition to resolving my problem, he was very receptive to my questions about the machine, offering suggestions for kinds of detergent, amounts to use and basic operation for both the washer and dryer.
I would highly recommend George's Appliances and would never hesitate to call them to service any appliance we own. The customer service is A++++ and their price was very reasonable.

    Not well...
He was attentive to phone calls but did mess up the first appointment and was on his way to my house one week early.  On the day of the originally scheduled appointment (one week later) he was a no show and admitted to "messing up" when I called him.
He was punctual and called ahead on the day he finally arrived for service.
He came in and dumped his stuff all over my kitchen counters without consulting with me first as to the best location to place his stuff.
He asked for towels to protect my floor but did a poor job in keeping things dry with the five towels I gave him until I mentioned something.  I had to provide the "ladies blow dryer" that he requested to melt the ice in the ice receptacle.
He wanted something faxed to my house for a picture of my refrigerator.  I had to go up and down the stairs 3 times before
he realized that it could not be faxed from his office.
As things were going along and after taking everything apart and then placing it back together again, I asked him what he thought the problem was.  He actually told me that he "could not discuss things until he was done with everything"; that he could "not do two things at one time".  Wow!  To me it just looked as if he was trying to increase the bill as he was perfectly capable of conversation regarding other things prior.
When he finally was agreeable to speak with me about the diagnosis, he stated that he found what he originally thought was the problem to not be a problem at all.  He stated if he did replace that part that there were "no guarantees" that it would fix the problem.
From what I could get out of him, it seems that he is the only one working in this area of the company of a larger franchise but he was very cagey about discussing this.  He is the only one that always answers the phone.
He is a nice enough fellow, and I know that there is not always an answer to a problem, but when he put everything in my lap and stated that it was my decision as to how I wanted to fix the refrigerator, I lost all confidence at that moment.
Bottom line.  He could not and did not fix the problem, I was out 1hour and 30 minutes of my time as well as $220 with nothing to show for it.
Too bad I did not join Angies List before I made this appointment.  All of the evaluations unfortunately don't surprise me.

G.E. repairman was in Roanoke, VA. His regular days in Lynchburg were Tuesday and Thursday. Tuesday, June 18 he installed a power control board. On Thursday June 20 he installed a fan motor. My bill was $447.27. We waited the suggested 24 hours for the refrigerator to begin making ice. It never did.

On June 24 I went to Vice Phelps, the contractor that built our house in 2011. He is the head of VC Design and Build, Inc. He told me he would replace the refrigerator. We got a new Kenmore refrigerator June 27. I never received a bill from George's Appliance. Perhaps Mr. Phelps had a hand in that.

As part of full service move, our front loader washer and dryer were supposed to be professionally moved and re-installed. I did take the opportunity to buy pedestals, and so that was agreed not to be part of the contract- fair, any cost related to installing pedestals would be additional cost. I managed to get units on pedestals, but needed some help balancing and then hooking up. The service man only hooked up the washer, and pretty much shrugged his shoulders about the rest of the job stating "yeah, that's going to be a problem." He told me the parts I would need, wrote a bill to the company, and was on his way. Thankfully, I didn't have to pay him directly but the job is still not done. Now I will have to go through further hoops with the moving company to hire someone competent.

Hawkins Appliance sent a young man out tot repair and to my surprise he was punctual, professional, and quickly identified the problems with my appliances. He had to order the parts so when they came he called to schedule a time to come fix my appliances. He worked quickly and was polite and professional. I would definitely call them first if I had a problem with an appliance.

Just to drop by and perform a simple assessment of the problem that I originally thought it would be a simple swap of a dysfunctioning part just didn't end up being what I wished. It wasn't worth the repair so I dropped the idea. Not George's fault but my expectations. The costs for so many repairs are way too high from almost any company but I do like George and his staff just fine. I just only would like lower prices. Still, if I ever needed such a service again, I would probably call on George again. The degree of professional treatment was the best.

Got to the home on time, was courteous and efficient. Cleaned up after himself and seemed genuinely interested in my being able to continue using the appliance with minimal costs. A real treat to do business with Dave (representing George).

Hawkins showed up in the time frame expected, calling me to make sure I was there; was friendly; went straight for the problem; told me what I could do to make a recurrence less likely. But the main thing is: he came when expected.
