    Southern States Volkswagen of Durham
They are very good as well. They are not cheap. Usually you do have to wait. You can't pick up a phone and take it in the next day. If I call them one week, they can get me in at the end of the week usually. If I call them on an Monday or Tuesday, they can get me in on an Thursday or Friday. I like that they are efficient. They take care of the care. I have not had anything breaking on my old car. They let me know what needs to be replaced, if it needs to be replaced. They give me a ride home if it will be over an hour. They have an shuttle that will take me home, and bring me back to the dealership. Its an convenience. It just seems expensive.

    Tarlton's Oak Service
Repaired heater.  Was told that the brake lines were broken, then was told that your were a custom size and needed t0 be custom made (for a 2000 Buick LeSabre???) that added $400 to the bill.  Brought it in and told them I needed the car to drive home that evening and if they could not do it by then to not do it or let me know so that I had a ride home to Louisa.  by 5 pm no call, called them and mechanics were gone for the day.  I did not get the car back for 4 days.  I called everyday because they NEVER called me.  when I picked it up I asked what kind of warranty they game, jokingly he said till you drive away.  Well that wasn't a joke.  Traction control stopped working and he told me that was because the anti lock brake system was not working and that I did not ask for that to be fixed.  I thought that was part of the brake system. Will never go there or recommend.

Very professional work.  Courteous.  Also have loaner cars available.  They always call me to get approval for recommended work first.  I really appreciate that.  Thank you.

    Needham Enterprises Inc
John Needham has been servicing and repairing my cars for almost six years. He has always been reasonably priced and is meticulous about his work. He has done every thing from monthly lube, oil change and filter change to electric window repair. My most recent experience was with a coil pack for my Ford Taurus. My car started missing badly on a business trip to Lynchburg. I called John from my last appointment in Lynchburg and he said he could get me in the next day. I was there at 9:30 and was back on the road in less than four hours. In addition to repairing the coil pack he replaced a windshield wiper that wasn't wiping to well and told me that it was under his warranty and didn't charge me a dime. He also does all the service and repair work on my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have never found a mechanic that was as fair, honest and competent as John Needham

I wanted Bobby to fix my husband's full size Dodge truck so that I would consider it driveable. The battery cables were loose, so it wouldn't always turn over. The engine idle was too low and it would stall when it was cold. The fuel SOV had failed some time ago, and the replacement was a $400 part, so instead of getting it fixed, my husband would pop the hood and reach into the engine to turn it off (because using the key wouldn't stop the fuel flow). I also told Bobby to call *me,* not my husband, with any questions. The repairs were my Christmas gift to my husband. Since Bobby knew it was not our daily driver vehicle, he had me write the list of repairs down when I dropped off the truck, and I told him he could take his time getting it completed. He spent two weeks (which was fine by me, we were traveling during the holidays). He called me once about the fuel SOV, when he had a quote for the part. He could either order the new valve for over $400 just for the part (no used ones were available in any of the nearby parts yards) or he could modify the valve for $20. I selected the less expensive alternative. He attached a stiff cable to a handle on the dash so the truck can be shut off from inside the cab and without popping the hood. My husband is thrilled. The truck starts and runs like a dream. He picked it up and used it to help a friend move the next morning with no worries. I haven't driven it yet, but Bobby runs a good shop and stands by his work. He won't cheat anybody. He'll make sure whether you want to buy new parts, or he'll recommend when used parts might save your wallet some heartache. He did not do any work that I did not have on the list of repairs - we'll take the truck back to have the oil leaks fixed as soon as we have the money!

    Settle Tire Company
Excellent service.  Very courteous and helpful.  I won't go anywhere else for car service and tires.  Settle is the best garage in town---by far.  I recommend them highly.
