    JW Home Improvement
Initial contact and dialogue went as expected. I spoke with a representative, sent the specifications and the sample design/picture. The rep said she would get back to me within 30 minutes, she did not. When I called I was told she had departed for the day. On the next business day, I called again and was told the request was with the Master Carpenter and I would receive a quote soon. After a few calls and conversations, another representative provided a verbal quote but without any detail, and did not send a written quote. I suspect she sensed my frustration and was trying to be helpful. I subsequently spoke with the rep I originally contacted. She assured me the Master Carpenter had my request and I would get the quote. To date, I have yet to receive the quote. I am disappointed with JW's performance. I used this firm a few years ago and was very pleased with their responsiveness, the quality of the work and the professionalism of those who preformed the work. Something has changed in their process, I hope they regain their edge.

Dave showed up to my house in Virginia that I was getting ready to sell and told me that he could not help me with my basement room, but he started pointing out several other things that he could do (like pulling the carpet tighter to get rid of wrinkles, etc) but it would cost me more than the $500 credit that was offered. He talked down to me while I was there and I overall did not get a very good feeling from him. He did not like it that I did not take him up on the other offers that he was providing and said he could not help me at all. I think he saw someone with a little extra cash and just wanted to take advantage of it and then got mad when he didn't see a high dollar job to be done. I am in the military and moved to a new duty station a week after this encounter. He put a note on Angie's list that he was sorry he couldn't help but I needed to contact Angie's list for a reimbursement. I did not go onto Angie's list when he sent me that message and I do not have any way of Angie's list notifying me that I received a message. I just saw that message today. My house sold the next month, so I had no need to go on Angie's list anymore. My job in the military was as a Drill Sergeant and that is a 7-day a week, working over 100 hours a week for 2 years. This reimbursement honestly slipped my mind at the time. Now I am in a different job, and I have another house. I was looking for a contractor on Angie's list and saw I had a message on there from Evergreen. When I saw the message from this contractor I remembered that I had never gotten reimbursed. So I contacted Angie's list and they said it had been too long and I needed to contact the contractor. When I contacted the contractor, he said he has no obligation to pay me back because I did not contact Angie's list when he told me to. He did not do any work for me but was still more than happy to take my money. I told him I just saw it, but he basically told me I was out of luck, that he had no obligation to pay me back, and then hung up the phone on me. This is not how you take care of customers and it is wrong to take someone's money for services that you did not perform. I would not recommend this company to anyone else. They are just looking to take your money, regardless of the situation you are in and then just rudely hang up the phone on you when you ask them to pay you back for a service that they did not perform.

    MP Home Repair
Marcos Pena and his entire team are extremely responsive and have a good sense of design. Marcos spent three days with his team discussing the design and reconfiguration of the laundry area in order to extend the powder room to accommodate the shower. He brought in an electrician, and a plumber to make sure all work was done properly. Nancy, their assistant, was always available to ferry messages back and forth to Marcos and to schedule work around my schedule. His team did an amazing job. Take a look at the pictures. MP Home Repair can handle anything you through at them, from a simple handyman like jobs all the way up to complex renovation projects.

After surveying the job, the ensuing quote was for $1,100 for two replacement sills.  What a joke.  I have done this type of work myself and I am unskilled.  A replacement sill took me three hours from the beginning to the end.  And, that was one person.  The wanted $550 for two skilled craftsmen.  What a joke and a rip-off!  I will be getting my money back and I would recommend that you never use them....even if you won the lottery.

    Pond Roofing Co Inc
The original roof, wooden shales deteriorated after 15 years. I used the Angie's List app to locate a roofer. Pond roofing responded and provided an estimate. The original roof only consisted of wooden shakes, and did not have roofing plywood or sheeting. I told the estimator I wanted these items with the new roof. Pond roofing provided an estimate and could complete work within two weeks of acceptance. Before the work started, my questions were answered by a very friendly and professional office staff. On the morning the work was to begin, a large truck arrived to off load the roofing supplies. The roofing crew arrived, on time, shortly thereafter. The estimator originally thought the replacement would take a full day to a day and a half. As it turned out, the work required two full days. There were two people the first day, and three for most of the second day. Pond roofing first removed the old roof in its entirety. Then used pressure treated wooden shakes, Winterguard ice & watershield, and felt strips, along with the CDX plywood decking. The resultant roof looked better that the original when new. I was impressed by the amount of work that was required. Placing the shakes was very labor intensive. Each shake had to be cut individually and properly aligned. The work was not only technical but required a designer's eye. I was at first concerned with what I perceived as a somewhat high price. However, after seeing the amount of work that was required, I think the cost was quite reasonable. The crew thoroughly cleaned all debris and left the area in pristine condition.

The company sent 2 techs to do the work. They were at my home before the sun came up and left after the sun went down. They worked hard all day every day.  They were just phenominal. They were in the neighborhood a week or two later, and came by to check to make sure there were no leaks and everything was good.

Mixing Bowl Contracting, HVAC, Plumbing, Electric
My Hunny Do did an outstanding job from start to finish. I corresponded with John Scaniffe through e-mails. He is very nice, efficient, and very honest. After sending some pictures of the various places that I wanted to have the rotted wood replaced with composite wood, John came out to take a look and to make sure the estimate that he sent was right. After signing with his company he scheduled my work to be done on November 12, 2014 through November 13, 2014. The day before my scheduled date, John called and sent me an e-mail telling me when his Master Carpenter would arrive the following day. His Master Carpenter Filix Menendez arrived on time and went to work quickly. He works very hard and does an exceptional job on everything he does. I was very impressed! The house now looks terrific! The windows sills and trim under the windows look as good as when I bought the place back in 2003. The caulking of all my windows and everything else on the exterior was done efficiently and meticulously. I am extremely pleased with the results. I think very highly of My Hunny Do and would highly recommend them to all my family and friends. I know I will definitely keep using My Hunny Do for future repairs and projects.

    HBServices LLC
HB Services performed all services in accordance with our agreement. All interaction - from initial estimates through post completion walk through - was professional and pleasant. HB Services was highly flexible as I wanted to break the job into three phases to limit the impact - both on our time and finances. In combination with unfavorable weather, the project turned out to be more complex and lengthy than originally envisioned. However, HB Services dealt with the complexities of the job and my special requests remarkably well. The bottom line for me was that HB Services communicated with me clearly and openly and did exactly what they said they would which made the entire project that much easier to handle.

    The Home Specialist
I found Tom through the Angie's List recommendations and geographic proximity search.  I had a growing list of drywall repairs and painting from water damage and general wear and tear so one day I just decided that it was time to get some help.  My search identified two qualified vendors and I happened to call Tom first.  I dialed his number expecting to get the dreaded voice mail since contractors never answer the phone but I was pleasantly surprised when Tom picked up!
We made an appointment for the next day.  He came on time and was quite happy to quote on all of my various projects even though they required a variety of different trades.  His quote was quite competitive and I felt very secure in his abilities so I decided to hire him on the spot.  I am very glad that I did.
Tom has a very high attention to detail that is quite uncommon in contractors.  Although he employs crews and subcontractors to do most of the work, he came by each day at least once to make sure that the work is up to his standards and that I was happy  One of the projects that I hired him for was to patch some drywall and paint the room, but while doing the work he insisted on recaulking the windows at no charge.  He take a lot of personal pride in his work.
I also found Tom to be good at going the extra step to solve a problem  As I mentioned in the first paragraph, some of my drywall damage was caused by a water leak.  When Tom saw the damage, he went up on the roof to see where the water was coming from.  Once up there, he found a rotten area in the roof that was a hidden problem that would soon have caused some major damage.  He brought in experienced roofers and fixed this issue as well.
As you can tell, I have been very pleased with working with Tom.  I feel that he is honest, reasonably priced and really cares about doing quality work.  I recommend him without reservation.
